How a commander duel for instance, can be considered a magic game if the commanders are optimus prime and he man? Now picture this: how bad it can be if they start to include real people in this trash. Would you like to see lady gaga as a commander? I can see that happening in the future.

If you guys want to donate $5 a month to cockatrice. You can play magic for $60 a year. Totally online. Right now. Then you never have to care about paper magic or Double Masters or Masters Gold Edition Deluxe version 15x again. You can keep complaining about the price if you want to but it won't do anything. It's a luxury paper product made for people with large amounts of disposable income.
There are many examples of this in life. Deck of playing cards $5. vs Magic booster case of a new set $600. In one you get everything you need the other you don't.
Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani – $60,000 Per 750ml OR Tap water for .03 a gallon.
Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita ($4.8M) OR Chevrolet Spark $14,095
$60 board game you can play for forever until you get bored of it OR Lots of Money on Magic.
Due to Corona Virus I'm buying no magic cards at all. I can get another hobby if magic goes under.
I think I'm spent on this topic after that.

    Quite.

For someone so easily annoyed by 'rainbow communist opinions' I'm confused why you thought folks interested in problematizing WotC's predatory business practices and rising product costs would be receptive to your argumentation.

Thanks for reading my signature. No one has ever commented on it before.
They don't have to be receptive to my argument. I already knew they will most likely never listen.
If anything facts in this thread don't matter.
The main reason I posted in this thread is because it's fun. Maybe someone gains something from my posts. Maybe I sway an opinion. Maybe all of our lives get better from 1/100,000 people no longer having a communist belief system because of me. Maybe nothing happens at all but it was still fun posting it.

Thanks SpeedGrapher I have never been a political guy, but with your post I going to have to join the communist party. Luckily for me in Chile the communist party is pretty strong. In fact not even the pinochet dictatorship was able to destroy it.

    2) That is what I took from it, though, whether you like it or not. It would help choosing you words more carefully, which does *not* equate using more complicated or barely used words, mind you

I feel like on some level this should prove his point to you? You took from it what you did despite what he intended. In the same way there could be someone reading your post, and they will take from that what they will. Not necessarily what you intended the post to be.

there are very real consequences even in a virtual space, and even when you think your commentary is only being directed at an inanimate expression of real life.

Failed hyperbole. If thats true then critique would not exists. You just want that we act as sheeps endorsing everthing that wotc do.

Maybe if you are over thirty and fan of zarana of gi joe this could pass as a fan service. Fan service should be based in somthing that already exist like what they are doing with godzilla

I don't understand some fanatics in here, they champion against bikini chain mail, but when a girl appears with garter stockings (cleary a sexual thing)they call it inclusion. I just call it pandering

Strong card =/= strong character. Your obvious desire for worthwhile value from an SL drop and conception of what constitutes feminine empowerment are vastly at odds with each other.

Any Liliana Vess > thaly of I dont know what. You are escaping the fact that you are comparing one of the most important planeswalker with a creature. Now lets talk about what constitutes Liliana feminine empowerment. She started from a creature to became one of the most important characters of magic history and is pivotal to its novels stories thats empowerment. To top it off her planeswalker cards are not just addendum chaff. In the womens scret lair the only one that really feel right was capitan sisay of the weatherlight. Not puting one of the lilianas makes that product pandering and defeats the purposed inclusion.

Why would you continue to participate in a hobby you’ve been unable to derive value in going on 9 years?

If that is not someone trying to expulse somebody from a community I dont know what it is. But I will answer you smart ass. I like the rules of the game. I played the game a long time ago I even have some dual lands. But now I cant play because nobody plays magic anymore in my city. The fact that I like the game does not mean that I will endorsee their stupid decisions. None of the product you name has tournament value. I dont want subpar cards I want the real thing to play with real people. If anything you are the living proof of why real people does not care about magic because its community is toxic. But hey at least you make honour to your nickname you are a real SonofaBith75.

Putting aside the presumption here that your assertions are correct, is Thalia not an example of a strong female character?

Liliana is stronger she can kill half your board and is at the same level as jace beleren. Is no rocket science there is a reason those cards are so expensive. Puting a secret lair with liliana of the veil gives you a nice entry to competitive modern. O wait this game IS expensive I forgot about that.

    Why would they?

Because that way they finally will give us a more that just dencent product. The last good value out of the box product we got was premium deck series graveborn. No wonder they discontinued that too much good value in there, it was indecent. By the way Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is like 5 bucks.

Any point you’re trying to make is moot after a ridiculous statement like that.

Graveborn was 2011, so you’re discounting the ENTIRE LINE of Commander decks (36x), as well as Challenger decks (8x), Guild kits (10x), FTV Angels, Legends, and Realms, and Brawl decks (4x) among others. If you can’t find value in any of those OVER SIXTY products, that’s entirely on you, and your ability to judge products is questionable at best, and laughable at worst. Why would you continue to participate in a hobby you’ve been unable to derive value in going on 9 years?

So I must leave magic because you say so? Because I want more valuable cards in the non booster products?. Or is because you accept everything they do even this inclusion trend thats has nothing to do with make more people play the game. You want more people to play the game? Lower the cost of entry. Or perhaps you are happy playing your "exclusive" expensive game with the same dudes over and over again.

Well that's why *you* want them to do things differently, but my question still remains: what is WotC's incentive?

Because supposedly they care about women. The best way to show that is putting a product with a strong female character. The other thing about liliana is that she is evil. There are not too many evil women in magic. That makes her very special. So why are women not entitled to be evil in magic? I mean important ones.

Wizards of the coast is greedy because they dont release a secret lair with liliana of the veil. She is the poster girl of magic. So I wont believe the feminist trend. They dont want more women in the game they want more money.

Wait, wouldn't more women playing (therefore more players buying product) bring them more money? What even is this argument, I don't understand at all?

Because at the end of the day they always choose subpar cards for these "inclusive" products. Take this for example, wizards could easily have choose Liliana of the veil for a secret lair. She is the better value out of the box for multiple reasons
    -The card is more expensive
-The character is more important. liliana appears prominently in the youtube ad
-She represent a powerful and independent woman both in the lore and the card (Liliana of the veil)
-She is not in the reserved list
Make my words they will never release a liliana of the veil secret lair
