Rupture Spire in Standard? Really?? Reliquary Tower also seems awful in that second deck, and pretty much any deck in fact. It really seems like you've included all these Conflux lands for the sake of it without actually considering whether they would work at all in your deck.

I really like the mono-red burn list though. Don't know how good it would be - seems like it rolls over to a single Finks or War Monk - but it's certainly cool.

Rupture spire was a mistype on my part. I was thinking of the creature land, Ancient Ziggurat. So, that's my bad.

The Reliquary tower is there to let you build a hand, as well as survive an end-step Hurkyl's recall, without hosing your mana. I figured I didn't need the colored mana badly enough. Hopefully, testing will bear out whether or not that's true.

It has been a strange and fun strategy to try out. I am not advocating it as a permanent strategy, but it is pretty fun to just throw out there on rare occasion. Of course, your mileage may vary, it's been lightly used here, and of course, my success could be other circumstances (Like bad players in general pretending they are good at drafts.)

Mind's Desire is definitely legal in Extended. (And restricted in Vintage.)

What he said. It's banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage, but legal in Extended. I know, it seems weird to me too.

I'm not sure we're in Kai Budde range... Budde did it for much longer and at multiple Pro Tours. Keep in mind that a lot of great players don't make all the GP's.

That being said, LSV is certainly running hot, and playing some phenomenal Magic right now. Congrats!

Am I the only one that found Urconway's critique hilarious? Have a sense of humor guys.

    I thought it was hilarious.

My guess is, we'll see something new dominate the standard portion, falter in limited because of all the brainpower exerted for standard, and just miss t-8 (11th)

I think it'll be a new take on Faeries with a third color.

can someone explain to me please what it means be x-1, x-2?

X wins, and 1 loss, or X wins, and two losses, respectively. In a 9 round day, 7-2 would be the X-2, and 8-1 would be the X-1

Live coverage just finished, Antti Malin defeated Jamie Parke 3-1 in the finals to take home the only PT title for a Non-American this year.

USA took home the team title 2-0 over Australia.

Shuuhei Nakamura was able to stay atop the Player of the year race and take home that title.

Aaron Nicastri also withstood a furious challenge from Estonian Hannes Kerem to take the Rookie of the Year title.

Well, BDM isn't an employee either, just a freelancer. So, my guess is RB is freelancing as well. I doubt his layoff was unamicable. He is still friends with many employees, and a Great Magic Personality.

You. because any definition that makes Australia a continent excludes nearby islands, since they're not actually part of the Australia landmass, whereas New Zealand + Australia is Australasia.

There are multiple definitions of continent. One of them is based on continental land masses; in that case, New Zealand is not connected, so it doesn't count.

The other is based on the underlying plate tectonics; New Zealand is actually on a different continental plate.

There is NO definition of continent that has a continent called Australia that includes New Zealand.

Australasia is not even a continent, but it IS a grouping that includes both. Note the spelling.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_(continent)

Sometimes, it pays to read the links on wikipedia.

Australia is both a Country, and a Continent, but New Zealand is neither part of the country of Australia, OR the continent of Australia.

"As a cultural construct, the concept of a continent may go beyond the continental shelf to include oceanic islands and continental fragments. In this way, Iceland is considered part of Europe and Madagascar part of Africa. Extrapolating the concept to its extreme, some geographers take Australia, New Zealand and all the islands of Oceania (or sometimes Australasia) to be equivalent to a continent, allowing the entire land surface of the Earth to be divided into continents or quasi-continents."

And, considering local would be a relative, cultural term, I'm okay with using a cultural definition.

Someone just cast Plagiarize, but I'm not sure if it was the author of this article or Manuel Bucher from SCG.com...

This article is almost identical with his premium article from last week or so. He too talked about the mental tricks of magic.

I know, this isn't exactly a secret science but still it smells a bit fishy to me.

I'm not sure if ManuB knows I was writing it, but mine's been ready to go live for a few weeks. I started working on it in mid-November. Sometimes, you'll see a lot of this. I was kind of bummed to see Manu and Randle's articles so recently.

Thanks to all have shared their tricks, and please, keep 'em coming!
