Scourge Wolf - Pretty sure this is the first 2-mana, 2-power first striker available in red at Peasant.
We actually have a few options if you're looking for something with those stats, including Aether Chaser, Blood Knight, Burning-Fist Minotaur and Zada's Commando, as well as Blood Petal Celebrant if you agree with Design's more recent take on offense-only first strike. None of these crack my personal 360 list but if I were to expand I think Aether Chaser and Celebrant would be serious considerations.
As for the downshifts, my usual playgroup is only 4 so I have avoided lands that only tap for 2 specific colors as they tend to not make players' decks too often. I am interested in Stromkirk Occultist though, as I have a decent number of ways to madness it out. Casting it off a loot or rummage effect really does feel like you're getting with something, and it isn't too embarrassing to spend 3 on either.
I've been expecting a Call of the Herd downshift for a while now, happy to finally see it and add it to my cube. Spiritmonger is interesting as well, but the rest feel a little too power crept for my 360.
Haven't gone over the set in it's entirety yet, but from what I noticed skimming through spoilers:
Trigger Happy - Absolutely love the idea of this, will need to examine my cube and determine if the power level feels right.
Attempted Murder - Probably not efficient enough for how inconsistent it can be, but I actually like the pun and I just added Crow Storm to my cube so I wouldn't need to add new tokens for this.
I'm a Peasant cuber who mostly lurks, never had an issue with the two formats sharing a forum. I voted No but really whatever is easiest to moderate seems best.
What do you guys think of You Meet in a Tavern? Could it replace Harmonize (if people still play it)? It's been a while since I updated my cube.
Personally I'm not a fan. Only getting to look 5 cards deep means that even in a deck with 17 creatures you will:
~37% of the time draw 3 or more creatures
~36% of the time draw 2 creatures
~26% of the time draw 1 or 0 creatures
The other half being a bad Overrun is not enough for me to replace Harmonize. You're paying for flexibility, but I think you'll typically be unhappy with either mode.
So far the only card I'm interested in is Quandrix Apprentice, as its in a weak guild and has very close to "Magecraft — Draw a land" which is fantastic on a bear. Plus huge synergy with Retrace if you're running any of those.
I haven't seen anybody mention it but First Day of Class is another Persist combo enabler (though only for 1 turn). Not a huge deal but figured it was worth noting.
Hi all, I'm new to Peasant (just put my cube together this year), and am planning my first large update. There are several cards in white that I would love to hear some experienced thoughts on!
Oppressive Rays and Sky Tether are a couple of 1 mana removal spells that come with downsides. Rays seems like it could be good in an aggressive deck that can close things out before your opponent can start spending mana on freeing their creature. Tether looks strong in flying and control archetypes.
Angelic Renewal is an onboard effect, but it is fairly cheap and you get control over when to pop it.
Niblis of the Urn fits into white weenie and flying archetypes, but I've never played with it so I'm unsure if its too fragile to be effective.
