Ok so Synod Sanctum is on the battlefield and I play Worldgorger Dragon. In response to the dragon's first ability I activate the sanctum's first ability, exiling the dragon. This puts the dragon's second ability onto the stack. Responding to that I use the sanctum's second ability returning the dragon, triggering a second instance of it's first ability. At this point the stack looks like dragon exiles all, dragon returns all, dragon exiles all. Will the triggered ability of the dragon returning all cards exiled with it work here? I'm asking because to my understanding the cards are exiled by the second instance of the dragon (after being exiled and returned) so the first instance of it can't find the cards with its return ability. I'd love to be corrected and told that this does work but am I understanding correctly?
So quick question about Surge Engine. How does it interact with Lazav, the Multifarious? If Lazav copies it and uses the first ability, does he retain the unblockable when he copies something else?
If I have a Spy Kit and a Brass Squire in play, then I cast a Battalion Foot Soldier and in response to the etb use the squire to equip the Spy Kit, can I search for whatever I want? I understand that the soldier tells to search for 'Battalion Foot Soldier' and not 'a card with the same name' however to my understanding any mention of a card's own name within its text always refers to itself (rule 201.4)
I don't expect it to actually work and I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something here, but I would appreciate if someone could point me to a specific rule that says it doesn't.
Simple question. I'm making an Ashling the Pilgrim commander deck and doing some research I've found lots of people recommend putting in the various swords of protection, such as Sword of Fire and Ice. I didn't think this was legal as Ashling's colour identity is mono red and I'm pretty sure the swords aren't. Maybe I've misunderstood how colour identity works and the swords are colourless? Just thought I'd run this by some people who know what they're talking about.
EDIT: one other question while I'm here. Would copying Ashling's ability count towards the 3? Or could you trigger it twice, copying once each time with something like Rings of Brighthearth without detonating?
Ok, so I've given an opponent Lich's Mirror, and I have a Grindclock. If I make my opponent lose, can I trigger the Grindclock after they shuffle into their library but before they draw? Thanks.
