Thanks for the Mana suggestions also! Absolutely knew I'd need to get some shock and fetch lands for Mana fixing but they weren't quite in the budget currently. I appreciate the board wipe suggestions also and will look into those ASAP as well.
Thanks very much for the suggestions and seems right in line with some thoughts I had! Honestly part of cylonic rift was to add one to my collection and this desk seemed like a way to justify the purchase. Haha.
I'll absolutely look into making those adjustments when I get a chance Thank you very much!
Hey all. Recently made a new deck list that sort of focuses on Vial Smasher shenanigans with some Thrasios draw mixed in. Certainly not meant to be cEDH and more in the tuned area. Probably about a 6 or 7 in terms of power is the end goal, for now.
I was hoping for some suggestions? I tend to prefer controlly type decks with interaction and I think this seems pretty on par with that. Some obvious issues might be a bit too many ramp spells/mana rocks and possibly lack of board wipes.
My friend's are fairly casual but slowly upgrading and improving their decks. I'm fine with this deck being relatively under performing and making small adjustments over time, just curious to hear other's opinions and any suggestions on future near upgrades or possibly deck adjustments.
For context one friend plays a pretty strong Ruhan of the Fomori deck that has a tendency to wipe the table unless I'm playing something a bit more tuned than I'd like with the group or a Sliver Hivelord deck that's fairly slow but eventually unstoppable if no one has much interaction. The other two plays a quickly improving Selvala, Heart of the Wilds deck and Mina and Denn, Wildborn landfall deck.
My land base is certainly something I've noticed. It's hard to justify spending the money on 'just' lands, but as I've read and looked more it makes more sense. Particularly since it's a better long term investment anyway.
I guess the obvious ones are aim for shock lands followed by fetch?
Reyhan I didn't really realize the combo potential initially, though it makes a lot more sense now. Infect seems like a pretty gimmicky/cheap way to win (To me at least) and I know it has a bit of dislike in the LGS. Usually infect decks get singled out pretty quickly.
Stax seems really interesting/fun to be honest. I'd really like to build towards that. The tanglewire alone was one of my favorite inclusions and played properly it's a lot of fun. It seems like Stax isn't too good with Atraxa though, or maybe I'm just not familiar enough with it?
To be honest I don't *have* to stick with Atraxa. Any solid budget-ish cEDH deck in the 300-400 range is what I'm hoping to end up with, then work on upgrades going forwards.
I'm pretty still new/fresh to MTG, I've been playing for just under two months and I've gotten really into the game. So with that in mind, I'm still a bit unfamiliar with some of the more popular or staple cards for EDH/Commander so something that might be obvious to others might not be for me.
I picked up the commanders anthology, found a budget upgrade guide suggestion, then found a few more of my own cards I'm interested in and mixed them in. As of now I like where the deck is, for the most part, but I really need to work on making it more competitive and faster. My LGS has a handful of people with competitive oriented decks and I usually end up in the dust. I'm hoping to fix that with some upgrades/guidance if at all possible.
The cards I'm currently considering cutting are which consists of:
Mostly due to the poison theme being super slow for the two poison cards I have (Sort of a backup win con? But from playing it seems to be far too slow without the deck more themed for It), Darksteel reactor being almost hilariously slow after actually playing, Cauldron seeming a bit out of place, Altered Ego also kinda alright but usually too expensive/useless for my meta, and Reyhan being pretty subpar too. I might be missing something, but that's what I'm leaning towards cutting.
I currently have all of the cards in the 'Maybe' board on the tappedout decklist to add to the deck, potentially anyway:
I'm hoping for suggestions on where to maybe take this deck or cards to make it more competitive for my LGS.
The Meta for my LGS seems to be very very combo and control heavy currently. There's three specific people I have in mind, and while not entirely familiar with their decks, I can give a rough gist of them. These are the normal winners and they're who I'm hoping to take down/stand up against.
One plays a blue artifact deck with (I'm like 90% sure) runs Arcum Dagsson as commander. It's focused on getting infinite mana, making all cards artifacts on the field with Mycosynth Lattice, then making all of his artifacts indestructible. He can untap regularly thanks to Paradox Engine and it's nearly impossible to deal with when he gets going. If he can't get an infinite damage combo off he can still have us sacrifice literally all creatures on our field utilizing an infinite mana combo and constant untaps on his commander.
Another plays a graveyard themed deck with Meren of Clan Nel Toth that runs multiple tutors and seems to focus on getting out some insane combos off. He runs one card that allows him to retrieve things from exile, but otherwise he can't really recover from it if the proper pieces are exiled. He uses the 'Mike and Trike' combo ( Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion )
along with Protean Hulk. Typically when the Hulk dies it's almost always game.
The other plays a mix of decks that pretty much runs the same as the first two mentioned but with some different commanders/themes. Worth noting he also has a 'flicker' deck that focuses on exiling cards for a turn, then they come back. He can untap on every person's untap phase with another card so in our games (Usually 4 players) he can exile 4 different things. This really hurts my deck thanks to losing the counters, but he's only used this one once against me.
Hey all, I'm kind of brand new to MTG still but have done quite a bit of reading and some games with friends and at the game store.
Im hoping for some suggestions on a deck to play as well as hopefully help finding a proper Budget Tron deck for modern.
I've posted in the budget forums as well but sadly it looks like this last reply on the deck posting is over a month ago.
It shows my full card collection, though it's not very robust. Mostly consists of core 19, UMA, and guilds of ravnica. Most expensive and notable card is Liliana of the veil.
Colors you like to play: Any, though blue, green, and black seem most interesting currently.
Style you like to play: Ideally.I'd love to try out a Tron deck. It looks like a ton of fun honestly. I'm hoping for a suggestion on a decklist as I'm completely out of my element there and most 'budget' decks I see are like 250+ for Tron.
Budget: I'm aiming for 100-150 max ideally. Suggestions for upgrades are super appreciated though.
Level you want to play at, or aim to build up to: Casual currently and then FNM.
I super appreciate any suggestions and assistance. I did find one deck listed at http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/budget-urza-tron-90/
But was unsure as the comments on the video poked quite a bit of holes on it. I thought it'd be best to find people knowledgeable to reach out to, so here I am.

If you're dead set on mono black, you'll want to get Damnation, Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize, Viscera Seer, Kalastria Highborn, Vampire Nighthawk, Bloodghast more Liliana of the Veil. A number of stuff can get dropped. Vampires don't need Erebos. it wouldn't hurt to use use 4-6 black fetches. But at the same time, I understand why you don't. Think of this like the Monty Hall Problem. If you shuffle your deck, you increase your chances of drawing something you need/want. However if it remains unshuffled, the card stays where it is and you keep your original 1/60 chance of drawing it vs drawing it after shuffling.
Thanks so much for the suggestions. I mostly stayed away from any multi-colored cards because I thought it might be a bit overly ambitious for my first deckbuild. I'm still not 100% sure what makes two colors pair well together. I've been trying to find some reading on it but a lot of the time it seems like there's no real rule of thumb and it's more just 'Yea, these cards just sorta work.' Nothing like 'Black/red works well together regularly or red/white is always pretty strong.' More just specific decks that are listed.
I'm absolutely up to mix into a red deck and will do some research into it. Thanks again!!
Hey all, sorta brand spanking new to MTG and just dipping my toes into deck creation for the first time. I'm sure it's probably a bit of a cluster, but I was hoping for some feedback on a deck-list I've put together. I've tried to do some reading up on things to make a semi-competent deck but an outside/more experienced eye is always appreciated.
So far it's not really focusing on anything too terribly expensive, I didn't see much use for anything like fetch lands in a mono deck, particularly since it's my first 'build.'
I tossed Liliana in after some reading and getting very lucky on an UMA pack, about the only reason she's in there honestly. I had hoped the card draw from sign in blood would help offset some of her drawbacks.
It's basically focused on attaining a large amount of life via life link and generating tokens that will eventually overwhelm with a bit of control elements mixed in.
Also considered switching out some with possibly 2+ Mephidross Vampirebut was unsure if it was needed. I plan to test the deck out soon with friends and some MTG at a LCS but any advice is greatly appreciated, especially any resources on learning more in general.
Just had a quick question. I'm pretty much brand spanking new to Magic but haven't been able to find clarification on something.
Xantcha, Sleeper Agent
In an instance where you only have one other opponent can Xantcha still attack? From reading it seems like she can still attack but she simply cannot damage your opponent or Planeswalker. If your opponent decided to block her, for some reason, would she still do damage to your opponent's creature since she's not technically attacking your opponent or Planeswalker then?
Or does she simply not attack since she has no valid targets that's not your opponent?
I'll absolutely look into making those adjustments when I get a chance Thank you very much!

Cards you already own:
So I have my full MTG collection on an Excel document and have a PDF copy to share at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RaJtSOw9ahjWnPyISgdgY0LInQKiud5Q/view?usp=drivesdk

Makes perfect sense now. I appreciate it!
