Man... Kind of sad to see the Obzedat go, as well as a lot of the Guild Leaders who have been offed by the Planeswalkers. They're killing off cool, flavorful cards with interesting abilities and replacing them with generic humanoids... WHO I CAN'T USE AS COMMANDERS.
I kind of hope everyone dies by the end of the third set of Ravnica.

You have a Theater of Horror in play, exile some cards with it and then it is destroyed. Is it possible to cast the exiled cards with a new/second Theater of Horror? Or is this forbidden due to the ‚memory‘ of the cards?
I think it is forbidden, unfortunately. That's my biggest gripe against these kinds of cards, and often times why I don't play them. I wish WoTC would change this ruling so that way it would apply.
Jan 7, 2019Posted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from Dunharrow »Soul of Shandalar may be needed as a removal/mana sink card. Actually, you will end up with a lot of mana sinks, so Seedborn Muse is needed.
You need Sakura-Tribe Elder and Farhaven Elf. Probably also Solemn Simulacrum.
Voyaging Satyr and Arbor Elf will get you extra mana with the general.
I would play a bunch of creatures that let you play extra lands too. Azusa, Lost but seeking, Oracle of Mul Daya, etc.
I have an Gruul deck that plays an infinite combo that would work:
- Something that gives hast, probably Urabrask the Hidden.
- Temur Sabertooth
- Either Voyaging Satyr + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx (infinite mana any color) or Karametra's Acolyte (infinite green mana).
To me, this combo will be ideal since you have so many mana sinks.
Eldrazi also seem good. Since you will have trouble interacting, I think you need to try to win quickly.
All of these are good ideas.
I feel like winning will be some combination of "Going Tall" with things like Eldrazi, as well as "Going Wide" since you will typically have a higher creature number on the board. Using things like Ant Queen followed by a End-Raze Forerunners feels pretty good in a casual meta.

Interesting Morph Idea.
Fortunately for her, there are a lot of good creatures that can somewhat act as the spells we would be leaving out for this build.
Jan 7, 2019Nikya of the Old Ways seems like a fun card with an interesting drawback, but strong potential if built correctly. I would like to throw some ideas around with everyone to see what kind of deck ideas we have for her!Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Nikya is a 5/5 for 5 mana that doubles our land mana production, but restricts us to only casting creatures. This makes us want to be in a predominately creature build. Fortunately, Gruul is the perfect color combination for creatures, and there are surprisingly still a lot of creatures that essentially will do the same thing as spells for us.
- Skarrgan Hellkite
- Dragonlord Atarka
- Reclamation Sage
- Burning Sun's Avatar
- Acidic Slime
- Chaos Maw
- Bane of Progress
- Eternal Witness
- Loaming Shaman
- Temur Sabertooth
- Ruric Thar, the Unbowed
- Yeva, Nature's Herald
- Sylvan Safekeeper
I also believe Nikya will be a fan of mana sinks. So let's brew this deck!

However the mana production only seems to work for abilities and playing creatures. What abilities are there amongst the grul that need lots of Mana? Ideas?
I'm looking for creatures that draw me cards, honestly. Just use that huge mana boost to allow yourself to drop a ton of creatures with valuable effects.
Dec 21, 2018Happy Holidays everyone! I'm new here, but I enjoy making custom MtG cards so I figure my first post should be some card designs.Posted in: Custom Card Creation
