And lots of people are predictably, and somewhat justifiably, very annoyed by this because there's no good reason to name it Fountain of Ichor if they didn't want to invoke speculation - the word doesn't even have anything to do with oil outside of MTG's use of it as an alias for Glistening Oil. If you draw your definition from English in general, it's a badly chosen nonsense name. If you draw your definition from the context of MTG, it's yet another obnoxious red-herring meant to stir speculation, which I would have thought they would learn to do better or not do at all by now.

How could they call it to avoid the issue? Fountain of Oil would be even worse...

So tar is just able to animate statues now? Interesting.

Is it surprising considering that Creeping Tar Pit exists?

Inbalance certainly looks more likely than cramming two multicolor cards before the Abominable treefolk. Which isn't impossible of course.

So it does force to destroy itself? If there are no other artifacts in tge battlefield? Correct me if I am wrong.

How can it force you to destroy anything if it says "up to one"?

    - So, nothing biological can pass through the Planar Bridge . . . except for planeswalkers. What? This was another point they hammered ever since the Planar Bridge was made. Yet, in this story, Ob Nixilis, Dack, Karn, and Samut just walk/fly through the portal into Amonkhet. The explanation is that their sparks somehow protect them.

Didn't the Planar Bridge destroy organic matter due to sending it through the Blind Eternities, from which effects the spark specifically protects? Not that it makes the whole book any better, but still.

Not a strawman given I’ve seen people say things like “Bolas and all the other walkers would die and basically reset the roster” as one way they expected the story to go. Do you want me to go dig for posts to prove my point? It’ll have to be after work but I’m more than able to show that people are saying these kind of things.

It is, since you're basically commenting as if that was the number one stance presented by people - which it isn't. Sure, you can find some posts with such sentiments, but you could also find ones where someone expected Fblthp to be the hero of the story or become a planeswalker. Doesn't mean those should become the focus of the discussion.

None of the premises to me read "everyone dies and Bolas wins" or "half the known Planeswalkers die in a borderline pyrrhic victory". If that's how you're reading it then that's fine, but it's far from the only interpretation, as it is with literature. We had the bleak story with Amonkhet. That was one where it was rather obvious things weren't going to go well. We had it with the last round of Innistrad as well. Those were ones where it was rather obvious the story was going to be dark, and they delivered fine on that.

Nice strawman you're building there. Unless you truly believe there is no room between "almost no planeswalkers die" and "half/most die", in which case discussing this is kinda hard.

Also sharing a quote that sums up my thoughts on the whole need for bleak/dark stories.

Not all stories need to be bleak or dark, but something built on a premise WotS was, kinda doesn't really lend itself to a light tone.

So, is this Lily wins, the block? I mean, she got two things that were hanging over her dealt with (the contract and now the Veil). Guess we'll see if there isn't a card that shows her destroying the Raven Man Wink

The leak is due to possible illegal activity and due to such we are not allowing it on the forums.

Aside from the fact that we have no real reason to suspect illegal activity (benefit of the doubt anyone) the cards we have seen in the Rumor Mill have already spoiled Gideon's fate, how Lily was spared despite going against Bolas, which side won etc. Are people not allowed to discuss those?

Did you really receive a book bound backwards?!

Not me - saw it on youtube.

Still, going out to mention "possible illegal actions" of the leaker leaves a bad taste in my mouth - they mentioned the store gave them the book early, and tbh I don't see no shred of evidence to suggest otherwise.

And considering Wizards' track record over the recent years, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave the shop a wrong date to distribute the books - if they can send an upside down, backwards bound dnd book, who knows what else they can **** up Wink

So, we'll get up to one Oath in WAR, and if we do, it'll be multicolor, meaning it has to be one of the hybrid or gold PWs. Kaya or Vraska seem most likely.

Seeing the flavor text of Tamiyo's Epiphany, I'd find her a possible candidate. One more likely than Vraska anyway...

Weeellllll Avacyns unmaking was his doing. She just got crazy. He sold her for an army of vampires.

And what was he supposed to do when she went completely mad and threatened to wipe out the humans she was made to protect?

The rest was Nahiri. While Emrakul invaded Innistrad after the unmaking of Avacyn. So maybe she was holding her back somehow.

Wasn't that Nahiri's plan? Avacyn was the key of Innistrad's protective magic and she wanted to force Sorin to remove both said magic and the angel.

    Quote from Xeruh »
They’re absolutely both in the wrong. Sorin couldn’t even offer up a “my bad” to his actions. And he then decides to leave someone trapped for ages. He’s abysmal at communication.

Of course he is. Still, he imprisoned Nahiri only after she wouldn't relent and kept attacking him in her misguided attempt to earn his respect.

Did the Helvault have a switch that allowed one to release things?

So, Sorin supposedly gained white when he came back to Innistrad to represent his obligations and position there. Now he seems focused solely on Nahiri but keeps the white? OK...

    Quote from Gutterstorm »
And then when she got upset with him he locked her in the Helvault and just left her there. Not like he couldn’t have let her have a time out and then get her out when she’s cooled off. No he left her there for millenia while Avacyn was locking demons in there with her. Nahiri has a right to be upset with, and feel betrayed by, Sorin and Oldwalkers are known for their long memories. Again it doesn’t justify bringing Emrakul to Innistrad but it also isn’t just something you “get over.”

He locked her up since she wouldn't relent. She could have left, maybe return later (or leave Sorin in her past completely) but Nahiri decided she needs to beat him and force him to come to Zendikar. She struck the first blow, and ignored everything other than "beat Sorin here and now".

Also, did the Helvault even allow for releasing things imprisoned within (aside from destroying it)? I don't recall such a thing being mentioned, and since the purpose was to bind threats to Innistrad within, it isn't that improbable that it was a one-way thing by design.
