Variance is a big part of magic, you just have to take the hits as they come, the up's and downs even out eventually, you also seem to draw very often, the remedy for this is pretty easy(play faster), just a thought as to how not to draw so often.

theres also the problem of this event saddling pro's from smaller countries with people that won 40 man events, basicly eliminating them from the event from inability to "carry" the other members of the team.

I would like to note to the people saying people at there stores are homophobic because they use words like "***" and tell each other to suck there dicks doesn't make them homophobic, it might be a little insensitive, but those things just like overuse of the word "rape" etc. are part of gamer culture, and don't actually mean anything about the people.

Also, at least in my area, I think at least 85% of the people that play magic are liberal, you've kind of reversed what actually brings people to magic, Its much easier to start playing from a liberal background because you kind of free to do your own thing(as I was as a child) were the conservative will have an array of problems with the game, stemming from religious beliefs, and general non-acceptance of alternative lifestyles.

    TL:DR
Conservatism is slow to change, and magic being labeled a "nerd" game as well as "demonic" etc I think would drive away conservatives much more than liberals.

Did you just compare Aces in Poker to having to fork out $600 minimum to play the best deck during the Caw Blade era?

Honestly each format has its own barrier to entry, if you cant afford it... sorry looks like the formats not for you, either use your "innovation" to figure out how to do without or play something else.

i honestly wonder what kind of decks would turn up at fnm if coverage of big tournaments was non-existent. or to take it further, people just all didn't even attempt to make a deck that they saw one time, but instead go out and make a name for their own new crazy concoction.

guess we will never know Slant

Eventually? exactly the same, since those are the best decks in format

In Russia there's a nation wide 10 day break, they found it was easier to just give people the time off then force them to work, since productivity slumps so badly.

Its really hard to figure out what to say here, basicly you have to be realistic about this, gp's are awful for making money(as is magic in general) you really need a strong base fund BEFORE attempting to grind in, and you need to be in position for it, to be honest I would put it on the backburner for a while and try to spike a ptq, if your possibly going to be homeless you should focus on that problem first, this is also a bad time to try to break in for the year( even if you spike a gp your gana get pro points that go way in 5 months) at a minimum I would hold off trying to go "all in" until then.

If you're using Congress as a measure of the political beliefs of the two parties as a whole, then that must mean all Democrats are hardline socialists except for those who voted in Blue Dogs.

But we both know that isn't accurate, is it?

No but with the democrats you at least see some diversity from the norm, with the republicans... again, just point me to a couple that are.

You'd be surprised. Conservatives, as a whole, are non-religious and pro-choice. But the highly vocal NeoConservatives are very religious and pro-life. The left wing fixates on them, and acts like every Conservative is actually a NeoConservative.

That is little different than me saying every single Democrat is a Welfare Queen (or King) simply because a minority of them are.

I, myself, am Conservative; Pagan (non-Christian, in fact...Christians tried to wipe us out several times); pro-Choice; and anti-marriage entirely yet feel that as long as marriage is legal for one group (heterosexuals), it should be legal for homosexuals and polygamists. And there is even a group of Republicans who are gay and flaunt it - the Log Cabin Republicans.

Trying to blanket the Republicans into one stereotype is about as effective as trying to blanket stereotype the Democrats. And just as ignorant. But some people choose to willfully remain ignorant of the various types of Republicans just so they can make comments like your's and Grant's - and try to make all Republicans seem the same.

I said in either house... like any of the people Conservatives vote for... The reason every Conservative in politics is like the stereotype is because that who you vote for, or if your a Conservative and don't vote for these people then your in the minority of your party? Really has to be one of those because if many of you really were pro choice then it would'nt be a huge talking point of your party would it?

That's only true if you believe the left wing propaganda machine that tries to make a vocal minority of Republicans (the religious zealot NeoConservatives) look like the controlling force behind the Republican Party.

Here's a hint. Most Republicans are not like that.

how many non-christian OR pro-choice Conservatives are there? In either house?

1st one is correct. the 2nd one is not. most republicans want individual freedom that you as a person can go off and do what you want without government getting in the way to stop you from working toward your goals.

that is the main reason that i vote conservative and will continue to do so and hope that my kids do as well. i want them independant and self sufficient. it leads to a better society than one that is dependant on government for ever basic need.

Or want an abortion, or want be non-christian, or any of the other conservative social restrictions.

That doesn't answer my question though. Won't these people then stop going to FNM and if they do won't they hurt the FNM groups as far as number of players in a night?

it really should'nt, they still need the point from grand prix bye's
