Does anyone know if there is a mature multiplayer Commander group around for MTGO?
It seems a lot of the casual communities have gone away on MTGO...I used to run a Commander Cube online and used a third party site to do the actual drafting portion, and then I would trade out the cards, but then I ran into people stealing.
Last night, a guy spammed "Daddy's Home" repeatedly as he made a bunch of obnoxious plays.
I miss playing the paper version, but if there was a group that occasionally got together to play more social Commander it would be pretty awesome!
I live in the same area as you, and there is really only one answer unless things have changed; CCG House. I believe they mostly do online now, but before I totally switched over to Magic Online only they had a retail shop in Vancouver.
Power and Toughness of creatures MUST be equal. (2/1 3/4 etc annoy me).
Cards with * as their power or toughness cannot be in my deck.
Basic lands must have the same art.
Basic lands throughout the deck must be from the same set.
All cards must be from the latest released set.
2 or 4 of's only.
Cards are either all foil or all normal.
No white bordered cards allowed in my decks.
No future-shifted/planeshifted cards in my decks. Basically, they all have to have the same border. Forementioned cards are too few to make a deck out of.
Looking for some card improvements. Pretty fragile to removal which is why I have the duress/inquisition to get rid of enchantment/creature destruction. Land count is a little low, but I don't really want more than 3-4 lands per game.
Idea is to get life to at least -7 so I can swing for 20 with Death's Shadow or fling him with Rite of Consumption.
wow that those are awesome suggestions def gonna pick up sovereigns fierce adn three dreams but im lookin for a more aura based deck vs equipment sooo sum more things based around that would be awesome
That's what I ended up doing. I found equipment to be too slow. Since you are going more of the aura route, Nomad Mythmaker seems very good.
I agree that this list is really unfocused. I play a similar deck with the purple hippo for political reasons and it basically has one major theme: search for enchantments and beat face with the hippo. Other than that it is all other various tutoring, ramp, draw, removal. Stuff to help me reach my objective and disrupt other players as I do it.
A few of the unfocused cards I would consider cutting:
Beacon - Search for a lifelink enchantment if you need lifegain
Verdant Force - Your general is going to be a beast, win by general damage. Or keep this if you really think you are going to need to win via overrun.
Garruk - See Verdant Force
Fracturing Gust - Counter productive if you are running lots of equipment and artifacts.
Final note. The most important (and most expensive) part of your deck should be the mana base. I will however suggest some cheap options as you are running a lot of basics and not a lot of mana fixing (signets, etc). These are all very cheap (under 2-3$).
Few things:
I find that Brainstorm and Squadron Hawk are good synergy together. However, on their own I just don't feel them. Hawk also dies very easily and needs Bone Splitter to be a threat. Instead of those I play Ponder and Guardian of the Guildpact. Ponder draws me a card, and I can shuffle if what I desperately need is not coming up. Guardian of the Guildpact is a serious threat to a lot of decks. Once equipped he HAS to be dealt with IMO.
I got tired of Oblivion Ring being bounced and destroyed. I have instead put in Mana Leak. It gets rid of a card you don't want, and puts the fear of possible counter spells into the minds of your opponent.
Other than that I put in a singleton Tumble Magnet. It is really good and I can bounce it when its out of charges with Kor Skyfisher.
If we are going to cut Dingus Staff we need an alternate win condition, other than creatures, because if the opponent lays something to stop them we have no answer.
Didn't we just get rid of two-mana acceleration creatures? Also, we still need two more lands.
Look, we have four 1cc accelerants, that means we have (what, a roughly 50%?) chance that we can jump straight to 3cc on turn two. On the other hand, you hit the 2cc the second turn after playing End. In other words, the 2cc slots should be filled with more silver bullets and fewer (if any) accelerants.
I pretty much agree and it's another reason why I cast third vote to Werebear.
Werebear is was accel - only secondary it was ment to be a 4/4. Not only is the deck's curve ending high, but also it's mana base has to support the cumulative upkeep of HE. I think we should (almost have to) add another two lands now.
@ cmetc1999:
- You can't cancel my minus vote on Ferroped with your vote to cut only one. (that's like countering a -0/-2 counter with a +1/+1 counter on Frankenstein's Monster :))
- Could you explain why the Ferroped is worth more than one slot?
Oops, I forgot to leave your minus counter on there
As far as more than one copy. I thought about this and I figured it would be nice to draw because I don't think I would ever tutor for it over the other 3cmc cards very often. And now that I have realized this I am going to change my vote to agree with you.
