Ah, fair enough. Is there any particular reason for RW/ Sun and Moon's success?

Yes, it is a prison-style deck that specializes in blocking its opponent from playing spells, generally by playing Chalice of the Void on turn 1, or Blood Moon on turn 1-2 by using fast mana granted by Simian Spirit Guide and Gemstone Caverns. Since Modern is about mana efficiency, a Chalice on 1 blocks a lot of decks from functioning.

It also is a Planeswalker-heavy deck, which most decks in Modern are unsuited to deal with, except by attacking them with creatures. Thus, it runs several board wipes.

As for graveyard decks, and artifact decks, playing white allows it to play Rest in Peace and Stony Silence in its sideboard.

It has not seen much play in the past year, since it appears to be rather weak to Control decks and some combo decks, and because people don't like playing against Prison decks at casual and FNM events.

Yeah, this about sums it up. The RW Nahiri runs land destruction in the side as well, or at least I do. As far as not wanting to play them at FNM, they can scoop if they want. There's me (Pyro Prison and RW Nahiri), a guy on lantern, and a guy on grixis whir so I'm not even running the most obnoxious prison lol. With most people at my LGS on Phoenix decks, I can't think of a reason not to run prison. Pyro is better atm because bridge though. I have noticed a recent influx of KCI at both of the stores I go to, and if you ask me that's the deck I would rather not play against. I have it, and it's a good deck, but man it sucks to play against...

Edit: I think you mean Gemstone Caverns instead of mine.

I started playing Arena in the last week or so and only dropped the $5 for the welcome pack. I already have my Runaway Red deck except 3 chainwhirlers. (Just replaced them with Lava Coils for the time being.) The main issue I see is that after the first deck, any other decks are a bit of a slog to attain. Especially if they don't have a color in common with the original one you build. That said, I'm fine with only having the deck I actually own in paper. I can see how this would be more of an issue for others though. It's probably a little harder to build Golgari Aggro or Jeskai Control on there than mono red lol.

Damping matrix, damping spheres, stony silence, Leyline of the void and Chalice of the Void are the hate cards I've seen be effective. Still have to have them on a clock though or they'll fight through it eventually, as the deck is really resistant to hate.

At this point in time RW needs something that makes UWx a winnable match and something to make the deck perform faster against the linear decks without too much disadvantage. The pyro prison lists offee a fair bit. The answers are there for some decks. but selection is still awful.
I just can't see it right now.
I guess given where the meta is I would go all out for E bridge and take my chances....
The new cards are ok, I can't see them being what the deck in any of its forms need.

So, I run Pyro Prison and was wondering why bridge doesn't see much use in the RW version. I normally just use mom and pop to blow up bridge if I need to, so maybe that would be a good idea to still keep the Emrakul/Nahiri play on.

You could just use Aetherflux Reservoir as your wincon. It's only like $5.

Has anyone experimented with Runaway Steam-kin in the deck? If so, what have your results been? I was gonna try the 8-Rabble list that fluffy posted -2 warboss and +2 steam-kin and replacing avaricious dragon with koth of the hammer tonight, but I got off work too late to catch a ride to the FNM that has modern.

@raystack I have actually been thinking about the cratermaker for exactly the reasons you stated. I knew it was a good card the moment I got it at the prerelease for GRN and was trying to figure out what I could move around to make it fit, so that list works really well. I'm relatively new to the format though so I didn't even know about witchbane until reading about it on this thread lol. Seems really good for burn and decks that run Leylines.

@eriksdungeon Wouldn't experimental frenzy be a better play in this deck with all of the accelerators to keep it going? You can always get rid of it for 4 mana if you're trying to keep a low hand count for bridge.

I think I'm going to try out the 8-Rabble that Fluffy posted. Seems I can get the cards I don't have for around $20 total so it's not a huge investment lol.
