like I said I only know the beast whisperer elves Version without any companies.. it's the only case I agree where I would cut them, too. http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=21591&d=344963&f=MO ..I played against this guy and of course i lost to him. I was 6:2 in the end and place 12. There was another elves player ranked before me
..another tournament of 77 Players I went 5:2 and achieved rank 9
Elves seems fine now, although phoenix is kinda rough. you need the answer to thing in the ice
@kysg why you're asking this? in GB aggro elves it's the best card in the deck.
In a combosih beast whisperer storm it's not great tbh, but I would say GB elves is better although the combo elf player mate I met at that tournament hasn't that opinion.
Hey,
I'm thinking of buying this deck, but I want to exclude the expensive cards like the moxes and crypt, imperial seal, wheel of fate and duals.
Do you have some suggestions what to put in for it?
played on a modern event with 177players last sunday. I reached rank 12 and 2 other elf players in top 8.
(might be up in a few days in mtgtop8, location Dülmen)
I played 6:2 and only lost to mirror (haha) and Humans.
My list is pretty standard bg. The human matchup is for me a dice roll race. Don't know what I'm missing since everywhere it seems its favoured. I think I was very unlucky. But I lost to him in an FNM before. SB plan was -2 leads, -2 Ooze +2 dismember +2 trophies
@spec.ops ..it would help if you post your deck and maybe matchups. I went to a bigger tournament 2 weeks ago.
Went 3:4 but every matchup was close.. dont think it's so bad as you describe
lost humans 1:2 (unlucky since we're favoured)
Ur thing 1:2 (last match he won the long run and I havent found removal)
jeskai mentor 1:2 (unlucky.. last matrch izzet staticaster destroyed me)
hardended scales affinity 0:2 (too much pressure for less answers)
@spec.ops ..the discussion about nettle sentinel vs mana dork isn't a closed thing.
In comboish/toolbox (devoted druid, viizier) chord versions I would say you dont need the Nettle sentinel and dork provides better keepable hands.
In aggroish decklists it's difficult to say. Pro and cons. haven't figured out by myself. Played a gb elves list with elves of deep shadow, but wanted to test nettle sentinels. It' s better to hit colors for the assassin's tropy when you play some in the sideboard. or stain the mind in your case.
there's a reddit forum for rg ponza and this is a list from someone who has done a guide for the meta right now.
Interesting list, raking canopy is fun
Saw a sultai list like this with mystical teachings, growth spiral and the wilderness reclamation.
Why no Opt? is better much better than the anticipate -> especially with the growth spiral landdrop.
Day of Judgment could be also considered as supreme verdict replacement.. and is cheaper than the wrath of god
but all in all it looks like a fun budget list. Want to play growth spiral by myself.. such a beautiful artwork
@MikePemulis ..the list is really interesting and funny, but not really tried by myself.
Maybe I buy a craterhoof and build that together and try it for fun.
the SB with so many removal I find.. mh interesting. These removals are good vs many decks, but the midrange game with so many removals seem clunky? What you think? (VS izzet phoenix, boarding in leads and the removals would blank the CC and LEad targets?)

G1 Deathshadow 2:0
G2 Elves with beast whisperer 0:2
G3 Bridgevine 2:0
G4 Bg rock 2:0
G5 Eldrazi stompy colorosless/white 2:0
G6 Abzan 2:1
G7 Humans 1:2
G8 Rg aggro, eldrazi, bloodbraidelf 2:0
The guy from game 2 played a lot the normal bg aggro built and found more succes in comboish build. https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=20644&d=335958&f=MO was his list before and got a good result.

gruul was tested when bloodbraid elf was unbanned "to fight" jace. dont tested it by myself

Stormy elf list with beast whisperer I would go for nettle sentinel for the heritage druid and nettle sentinel synergy
This is my standpoint on the issue
and a pseudo goblin bombardement.

Serum visions might be good as well, 1-off spell snare, negate and logic knot (instead of the Sinister Sabotage?

since i thought with the uprising of phoenix decks elves isnt in a good shape, I didnt played them, but SCG Indianapolis had elves in top16 https://mtgdecks.net/Modern/elves-decklist-by-branson-schlemmer-779243
