With the ban of looting, the people will play less Gy hate, so we can play reveler safe again.
If sfm becomes a thing, Kol Kommand should be our best answer.
Yes, we lose looting, but our deck is well possisionated in a midrange/control environment, so maybe worths at least trying and see what can we do with a worst cantrip like Cathartic Reunion and see how the meta shifts.
The Skelemental are basically for the tron and big mana storms that comes to the meta.
Imho, i think that sfm is more a controlish tool than that a midrange companion suite. The Pyro suite works in a very good way against the midranges and control decks because it has a recursive engine To put creatures in the table with very few mana. The ‘achilles heel’ of the decks always has been his speed, to diference to Jund, we dont have a Tarmo to outrace a tron deck or a combo one, for that reason, I was very enthusiastic with skelemental-unearth tandem, but the ban of looting ruins all the engine of the deck. I don’t see how sfm can solves the speed problem of the deck, by other side, adds a lot of cards with zero sinergy to the deck.
I don’t say that sfm cant fit in a suite in mardu colors, but I think if that occurs, it will be in a very different way that how it works this deck.
I see the sfm suite in a deck more controllish oriented like a death and taxes one, or a azorius control, with counterspells and things like that, because in other case, the combo and big mana decks will outrace him.
What problem solves the inclusion of sfm to this archetype? Sorry for the question but, i dont think that card fit good in this deck. Tron, Dredge, and all big mana decks still will be a problem. The midrange and control mu are very good, so this adition dont fit anything.
I think that smiting helix is cluncly with or without Faithless Looting. I prefer a more solid suite of removal like Dreadbore or Path to Exile, even angrath’s rampage that if sfm becomes a thing, that card will be a good answer against it.
Despite looting got banned, I won't leave Mardu. I just really like all the cards
Therefore, I came up with a build which only requires a small investment and is still competitive.
I went for the Nahiri / Emrakul combination. The +2 from nahiri could give this deck the consistency in the late game. And Emrakul is the finisher Mardu never had ;-)
Therefore I went up 2 lands. And threw Blood moon in the sideboard.
I know Bedlam Reveler is a nonbo with Emrakul. But if I'm upticking Nahiri to discard Emrakul (to ult her next turn), it wouldn't have matter anyways.
But if Bedlam feels wrong, I can replace them with Seasoned Pyromancer (or even a Dreadhorde Arcanist).
I really regret the Looting bann, but wanted to share my thoughts. May it help mardu rebuild
Mardu for sure still be competitive. The colours have the best removal suite of the format.
The death shadow variant of Mardu is great, and Unearth gives a great way for play recursive treats with low cost creatures.
The TTB version with emrakul is without a doubt a very interesting option. I will test it for sure
You believe that? I think its the start of decay of modern. Modern is the most succesfull format of magic because his diversity, and that diversity was created in a great way thanks to Faithless Looting. I Dont know whats pretend blizzard with this move, create a legacy clone format? The diversity of midrange decks Will decrease, and the gy strategies will goes very underpowered.
Hi guys.
This weekend im playing at my local magicplace.
We have a league that goes a whole year and this is a top 16 fight for a bye at the finals this fall.
Im going with this list and would love some help on the sideboard.
These are the decks im almost certain will show up:
Tron
Elves
Monored goblins aggro
Jeskai tempo
Storm
Burn
B/W prison
Humans
Lifegain sisters
Is Mardu pyromancer still a deck? Thinking of building that one when the meta is unfavored towards my death shadow. Or will it have the same bad matchups as shadow does?
Should I be looking at burn or combo decks?
Mardu Pyro is great against all the fair decks. The bad mu are Big Mana decks in general, but you can win even that decks with a correct sideboarding. It's a deck who rewards the expertise of the meta because is highly customizable. For me, is totally underplayed in relation to his power level.
Last deck talks about us, what do you think about ?
B00NTY
idk if that will be have good results, but the fact is that all the powerfuls non cost spells (wheel of fate, living end, etc.) starts to increase they prices because of Electrodominance.
Try using Ransack the Lab, is a very good replacement of FL.
2 Mountains
1 Plains

I think this kind of deck use the emra combo like a finisher. We dont need to search desperate the combo, for that, we have a great mid and late game.
This should be my approach to a TTB version:
2 Mountains
1 Plains
2 Swamp
1 Godless Shrine
3 Blackcleave Cliffs
2 Blood Crypt
2 Arid Mesa
4 Bloodstained Mire
1 Sacred Foundry
2 Marsh Flats
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Seasoned Pyromancer
3 Emrakul, the aeons torn
Spells
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Thoughtseize
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
4 Lingering Solis
2 Unearth
2 Collective Brutality
2 Dreadbore
2 Path to Exile
1 Kaya’s Guile
4 Through the Breach
2 Painful Thruths
The card should be banning is ancient stirrings, not the urza land.

That card cant be sub it. Is the core of the deck.
2x Anger of the gods (Humans, Elves, Goblins)
1x Engineered Explosives (Humans, Elves, Goblins, Prison)
2x Ensnaring Bridge (Humans, Elves, Jeskai)
2x Kambal (Storm, Burn, Sisters, Jeskai)
2x Goblin Rabblemaster (Tron, Burn, Storm, Prison, Sisters)
2x Wear (Prison, Tron,)
I have a Hazoret in the main, u should be too becauses ur pairings. if u dont want it, put 1x in Side to included in Tron, Burn, Storm, Sisters.
The other slots can be GY hate, like Surgical Extraction, Nihil Spellbomb, or Whatever.
Hope this help u a little.
Greetings.
With the grixis version of the deck, you can play both
