and it is wotc's responsibility to give you an appreciating asset?Quote from AtraxianShade »
until you try to buy or sell something, that something is worth exactly 0$ and most collector would never sell their collectibles. So, what does it matter if these cards are worth money or not on the secondary market? (unless you see them as an "investment" instead of a collectible, of course).Quote from SyntheticDreamer »
To be fair, these collections aren't exactly meant for competitive players - they're meant for collectors.
Collectible bad cards don't hold value. Just go look at many of the past SDCC cards. The ones that see play are astronomical. The ones that don't are $20-30.
I have spent the last several years buying and selling the sdcc Planeswalker sets. I routinely go with several of my friends at Comic-Con to buy these. I generally make enough money to sustain keeping one set, and making a reasonable profit selling the rest. (the only one I still actually have is a full color-matched signed set of the Terese Nielson ones from last year). This will probably be the least productive set they've ever done; considerably worse then the amonkhet ones 2 years ago.
It's a shame, because the art style and design is absolutely amazing. I wish that would have been done to Teferi, Narset, Karn, and cards that actually see considerable play.
I think not. some collectors will think they look good and buy them and others will not be interested. that is why they are produced as a limited edition. if they were meant for mass appeal they would not be con exclusives
Jun 26, 2019It is an exciting moment on Yakulea, where the Thirteen Pillar-Priests and the Trackers of the Rivenhall have finally come to an understanding and all forms of magic can freely be used once again. Innovation thrives and new mage-schools are opened every day even as the most ancient spells too are rediscovered and the plane hums with mana... strangely, more mana than it ever seemed to have before the ceasefires...Posted in: Custom Card Contests and Games

Jun 15, 2019void_nothing - interesting, the zombie part makes it seem like Meren's spell, not super powerful thou unless you already are doing experience countersPosted in: Custom Card Contests and Games
Subject16 - super nice and perfect flavor, I personally love Ugin
Eventide Sojourner - seems like it could result in way too many cards drawn for too cheap lol
Artorias - too much like a fancy Soul's Grace, not that original but is probably fine balance
Cardz5000 - wow I reall like the flashback extra effect...super nice card I wanna play in mizzix
IcariiFA - modal makes this cool, seems like a cycle, wanna see the rest of the cycle

[Color Identity RW] Sorcery (Rare)
If the madness cost was paid, Sky Ride of Avacyn deals 3 damage to each non-Human non-Angel creature. If the miracle cost was paid, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control and Human and Angel creatures you control gain double strike until end of turn
Jun 10, 2019Jimmy Groove: nice and super flavorful for a zombie but using ability while suspended might be bit too muchPosted in: Custom Card Contests and Games
LnGrrrR: doesn't reall feel like ghave because no saprolings, seems more like skullbriar also confused about how putting +1/+1 counters while exiled works
IcariiFA: really cool angel, seems like total mythic however it is very pushed
Algernone25: love it but suspend cost seems too high or too many time counters to be useful
void_nothing: pretty cool but too wordy and creates too much mana
Hemlock: definitely a broken card but would be fun to use, so many cascades lmao
