Zahira smiled and nodded encouragingly at Wynn's words of wisdom, but also spoke a soft warning to her companions, especially to her 'student': "Yet we must never keep our guard down. Whether in war or peace, there are always amongst our fellow beings those who would have the life drained from our body if they were to have the chance."
Zahira trusted in Wynn's judgment of the situation, and followed her carefully. She did her best keeping control of the tide of mana at her disposal, as they might need it very soon indeed.
ooc: How long can we remain in control of our mana sources?
Zahira nodded to Wynn, and, remembering the magnificent keep that was once her mentor's home, she called upon its might. "Well, they've had their warning." she said with a slim smile upon her face.
A burst of blinding radiance suddenly emanates from Zahira, leaving the goblins momentarily dazed, and unable to advance upon the three mages any further.
Zahira did not feel strong with snow under her feet, and so she thought back to her homeland, the rolling plains of Benalia, and its power and majesty was soon in her veins. She realized the best way to go was to hold off the goblins, and confuse them if possible. "Let me hold them off for a moment, then strike." she spoke in a clear tone, a command as much as Wynn's words were. "... Unless they don't break the law of course, but they probably will, knowing goblins." It was as much a joke as a lesson, for an Azorius that did not abide the law wasn't an Azorius, that meant as much as 'let them strike first'.
Zahira is quick to turn to the subjects of Jenika's alarm. Squinting her eyes against the sharp wind and bright background of snow, she tries to determine the name and nature of the advancing creatures, and to discern their intentions, drawing upon the teachings of the man she now so vividly remembers to do so.

"We can always go on a holiday to Shiv when this is over." joked Zahira, her ancestral homeland was just as hostile as this place, just in a different way.
If Zahira was anything, it would be vigilant. But the necessity of pushing onward despite of the invisible threat lurking in apparently every dark corner, behind every sharp turn, grew heavier. She thought it preferable to be in, or even better out again, by nightfall, because who knew what wretched things the slow passing of time in this abandoned place might have spawned?
ooc: I suppose something should happen now: either we get to the fortress, or we get some action, or some roleplaying opportunity, or any combination thereof. Just, as a wise man once said: Get on with it!
Shirin was attracted to the chest, she felt an invisible chain pull her towards it. Her mind screamed for her to resist, but at the same time sought a way to unlock it. But... in a realm of thought, was it not thought that could unlock anything, like a dreamer could steer his own dream with the necessary amount of willpower? She thought then of nothing more than the opening of the lock, pouring her will into the apparent keyhole as if it were acid that melted through the metal.
Even if she wasn't ready, she had to. The only path Shirin could take that moment, was the one that pleased Whitney. She set her mind to work, reaching out with long tendrils of thought to probe Whitney's mind, gain a foothold from which she could leap into that vast ocean of thought and knowledge. Without, of course, letting herself get overwhelmed... Shirin hoped she could.
"So, um... can... should I try it on you?" Shirin asked, which was perhaps stating the obvious, but with Shirin some things just weren't ever obvious enough until she was assured of it by someone. That... and she was a bit nervous about connecting her mind with Whitney's, as she didn't know what the consequences were, what unwanted things could, unknowingly or not, happen.
