This is accompanied by a change in how stores are ranked with WPN. It used to be they needed a number of unique players, now it's changing to be based around repeat regular players.
The promo packs are going to be different depending on the level of the store.
When we spoke to wizards they said that there are only 18 stores in the world that might qualify for the highest tier status.
I think Standard is doing fine in every way except Bo1. That format is a dumpster fire. What still boggles my mind, however, is that Rampaging Ferocidon is banned. I picked up a foil playsets at release to combat all of the Anointed Procession/Hidden Stockpile decks in my meta, and it gets banned. Super powerful cards like Teferi, Hero of Dominaria and Nexus of Fate are an acceptable power level, but Rampaging-flipping-Ferocidon isn't?
I'm actually glad Rampaging Ferocidon is still banned. If BO1 being a mess is a legitimate concern then I don't think giving red more toys would help the matter.
It should be noted that it's simply a stamped foil Planeswalker. It doesn't specify War of the Spark Planeswalker.
I think they might just do 5-7 planeswalker in War of the Spark. Then include Domri, Dovin, Ral, Kaya, Vraska and maybe even Bolas as possible War of the Spark stamped cards in the prerelease kits.
You can have a 3.99 price point, or you can have reprints of expensive modern staples. You're not getting both, forget that.
Why? We’ve had supplemental sets like both Conspiracies and Battlebond that have done just that. The Selesnya guild-kits had a wanted card worth the price of the box. WotC makes none of the extra money hoarders charge for holding old product, so why support them?
None of those products had the same level of reprints for Modern as any of the modern masters sets.
I guarantee if they put a Tarmagoft in the Selesnya guild kit it wouldn't sell for MSRP.
I can't wait to see janky decks targeting their own Beamsplitter Mage with this thing for value.
Honestly, this card is potentially playable in modern and will see plenty of play in standard.
I've double checked the rules, and it certainly DOES ignore timing restrictions. Jeskai control will be using this to end step Teferi or instant speed Deafening Clarion with a bit of punch. Hell, if I have the mana open I have no problem Sinister Sabotaging with an extra bolt tacked on.
Thousand Year Storm borrows from Storm, but is not Storm.
Besides being slightly different functionally, if Storm was printed as a set mechanic it would do very different things to standard.

They're all on the same team. Each guild with a Planeswalker is aligned with Bolas.
Actually this card seems to indicate that they're all in on the plan together.
Honestly Jund seems more likely

It has versatility and it's reasonably costed.
Icy Manipulator IS in standard. It's in Dominaria
