The End of an Era

    Maybe I could change Urban planning to:
    Urban planning (A deck cannot have more than 5 district lands.
    Each other card in your deck that shares a name with this lowers your initial life total by 2.
    Before the beginning of the game if your deck contains one or more district land choose two basic land types.)
    Or something like that

    My cube is 360 cards so there are about 1.5 lands per pack. The probability of getting more than 2 with the same name is not that high but not that low eighter. With a double cycle of fetch/shock lands you would actually have a lower probability of getting them in the color you need forcing you to get them as soon as you see them and ignoring other cards before the player with crucible of worlds snatch them all up. They also take up much less space in the cube and don't trigger my OCD like breaking cycle would. 360 is already tight and taking out 50 cards for lands would bee too much (at least in my mind).

    Not an expert eighter but my thought was that since you have a higher probability of finding the same card in a later pack you have no real reason to pick it over some other card and since you can only have two of these with the same name in your deck you have no real reason to pick more than two of each of these cards.
    Maybe I am wrong but as I said I haven't tested them yet.

    I was thinking about replacing the lands in my cube with more adaptable versions of themselves to make them lower priority picks and improve drafting with fewer people.
    So I remade lands I would have already put in my cube accessible to all colors.

    Some of them share a type and ability.
    The ability is this: Urban planning (Names are all WIP)(A deck cannot have more than 6 district lands and no more than 2 district lands that share a name.
    Before the beginning of the game if your deck contains one or more district land choose two basic land types.)

    The lands I plan on putting in my cube are:

    8x Land Lot(fetch land)
    Land - District
    Urban planning
    T, Pay 1 life, Sacrifice Land Lot: Search your library for a land of one of the chosen types, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.

    8x Urban Sanctuary (shock land)
    Land - District
    Urban planning
    Urban Sanctuary is of both chosen types in every game zone and can produce mana as such.
    As Urban Sanctuary enters the battlefield, you may pay 2 life. If you don’t, it enters the battlefield tapped.

    4x Academy Library (scry land)
    Land - District
    Urban planning
    Academy Library enters the battlefield tapped.
    When Academy Library enters the battlefield, scry 1.
    T: add one mana of any color lands of the chosen types could produce to your mana pool.

    4x Mana Refinery (check lands)
    Land - District
    Urban planning
    Mana Refinery enters the battlefield tapped unless you control a land of the chosen type.
    T: add one mana of any color lands of the chosen types could produce to your mana pool.

    4x Mana Well (bounce land)
    Land - District
    Urban planning
    Mana Well enters the battlefield tapped.
    When Mana Well enters the battlefield, return a land you control to its owner’s hand.
    T: add two mana, one for each color lands of the chosen types could produce, to your mana pool.

    All these lands heavily limit you to two colors so I also added:

    4x Iridescent Mine
    Land
    Iridescent Mine enters the battlefield with 2 mining counters.
    T: Add C.
    T, remove one mining counter: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

    3x Grand Coliseum

    I have yet to test them but they seem like they will work fine to me.

  • posted a message on [375][Unpowered] First Cube, any suggestion?
    I'm new to Cube and a returning MTG player after some years of inactivity.

    I like drafting a lot because it offers a more fair environment for players where everybody starts with the same pool of cards.
    But sealed drafting gets costly pretty quickly, so I decided to build my first cube with some cards I had laying around and some cards I plan to buy.

    This is my current list: http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/123806

    Is there any suggestion you have for me before I commit to buying all the cards that I'm missing?

    Note that I rarely draft with more than 4 people, so I probably put in a little more dual lands and mana rocks than necessary.
    That is to compensate for the increased difficulty of putting together a 2 colors deck with only 4 players and half the pool of cards.

    I tried to support the following archetypes:

    White: flicker with a little bit of control, life-gain and tokens (all flicker related);
    Blue: control and bounce/flicker;
    Black: reanimator and control with a little self-mill and discard;
    Red: burn and tokens;
    Green: ramp and +1/+1 counters;
