I never get why they put Channel into these sets, like what is the point. It isn't legal anywhere because it's crazy busted, so what's the point of it, to deck out your cube with it (where Channel also tends to be a controversial card)?

I'm sick and tired of the DFCs...

They certainly turn the game more and more online, as DFC's are fiddly to play with in person. Like can you imagine if you had a deck with like 20 of these in, which could be very possible in upcoming Standard.

There's a whole lot of text here, but I can't actually see much playability, but maybe I'm overlooking something.

This feels horrifically bad tbh, like they knew Simic mythics have been dunking on everything recently so gave it this dross.

I bet the white draw 3 card is something like draw 3 cards then each of your opponents may draw 6 cards

A few friends suggested blink as the new keyword. I could see it, since i dont even need to explain it and we all know what it means

One issue with blink is there are different variants of blink, namely some blink effects blink so something returns immediately, others not until end of turn. It's not even like they favour one over the other and one is outdated, both are in standard right now. Because of this I think it could be hard to keyword the ability as you could create more confusion than you solve.

So they take a card that was included in a commander deck as a bulk rare and now upshift it to mythic.

    Sad times.
Reprints in Commander precons hold their last known rarity, so it really doesn't matter. What matters is that this entire cycle got upshifted because some cards (*cough*we're getting Hypergenesis in this set*cough*) get mythic status for being that annoying in Limited. Knowing Magic players, splitting them up will annoy more people than this specific upshift.

Yeah. Apparently [card]Sprout Swarm[/mana] didn't make the cut even after debating putting it at mythic because it made too many nerds upset. I don't get why they couldn't have just printed it at rare? How different is it than some of the other S tier limited bombs they pull? R&D is dumb.

Also how is wheel mythic level? Did they just not have anything better in red to throw in here?

The Sprout Swarm couldn't be printed even at mythic for limited purposes is complete nonsense. Its reputation is actually higher than its power level, in part because it was common meant it showed up in every draft, if it was originally printed at rare it simply wouldn't have this reputation. There have been far more obnoxious limited cards even at regular rare in recent times. If they wanted it in the set at mythic it could easily have happened, this idea it would have ruined limited at mythic is rubbish. I imagine it's more the backlash and visual of upgrading a common to mythic in a premium priced product wouldn't have gone down well.

On top of this the whole x is at y rarity to protect limited play really doesn't wash with me in these premium products ever anyway. Premium products get drafted far less than standard ones, they are mostly drafted once and never again. Even the huge hit of Modern Horizon's I think at my LGS there was interest to draft it for about 3 weeks. Online most people will draft the set phantom. The limited experience should be far less of a factor in these products, yes it should be playable, but it shouldn't be the overriding factor in set design.

The mythics in this set are so hit and miss it's not even funny. I mean imagine opening this as your mythic.

I guess one of the issues is there simply isn't enough cards of value in Time Spiral block to cover enough mythics for a set, especially across all the colours. So they chose this cycle as most mythic feeling even though pretty much the whole cycle is worth nothing these days (and will be after this at least).

I feel like these are real feel bad mythics for players to open though, as they are even complete garbage in draft.

This is very, very good as blue removal goes. Yes you don't want a deck with like 5 of them in limited as they don't multiply that well, but locking down their best creature for 1 mana is an insane tempo play even if you take like 4 in the process.

This is terrible imo. If you compare to something like Abominable Treefolk it doesn't really match up that well. An 8/8 with no evasion is just meh by the time you will actually be able to play it. The ice part isn't as good as it looks as it doesn't actually tap the creatures, so they need to be tapped in the first place, and the protection while ok if the rest of the card was decent will likely mean you probably can't even replay it next turn. It's not even playable in limited given you won't be able to support it with enough snow lands.

Insane how a 4/4 for 4 in red with minimal drawback is just a run of the mill common these days.

Absolutely terrible card in real terms. You've got to invest 2 mana and 6 power of creatures for a 6/3 with no evasion with an ability that is probably mostly useless by the time you can crew this that will likely just trade off with their 3 drop. There's the Giant Ox combo, but without the combo they aren't particularly cards you want in your limited deck.

I actually wish they would push vehicles a bit more, it feels like they have gone the way equipment went for several years, where they are all terrible.

They've been pushing aura's for ages. Still I'm not really sure what would want this. Bogles style decks want 1 mana aura's or something even more pushed than this, so then you're looking for a deck that wants the becomes every creature type part, and I can't really think why any deck would want that on an aura. So basically you are left with a card that in limited you bring in when you think your opponent is light on removal to cheese them out.

Yer I don't see it for this. The 1st chapter is likely to just be gain 2 life. Foretell generally has the problem that it involves taking turn 2 off, this card wants you to pretty much take turn 3 off as well, you just can't do that in competitive Magic, you will be too far behind by the time you are getting to the board.
