For a lot older collections, near-mint basic lands will often hold more value than most of the commons.

Of the cards that aren't in your first image and which haven't been mentioned, Ankh of Mishra, Zombie Master and Mana Flare stood out as cards you could probably sell above bulk prices.

Eh. Thraben Inspector, Palace Sentinels, Gearseeker Serpent, Pulse of Murasa, Dinrova Horror and Burning-Tree Emissary were all recently printed at common, and are format-defining Pauper staples, and Tarkir had Delve commons that saw both bans and widespread play in every eternal format.

I dislike the NWO complexity principle as much as the next guy, but try a simulated Ice Age or MIR-VIS-WTL draft to see how many cards there were that weren't just mediocre, but completely unplayable.

Nostalgia is a hell of a rosy lens

Seems heavy on Ral. He's not going to be as easy to jam as Teferi; it will take 8 mana to play him with countermagic protection, and BG's getting a whole new cheap spell to protect him from.

I think you're eventually going to want to replace 2 copies of Ral and 1-2 copies of Ionize with Negates and/or Essence Scatters - but until there is a meta, the proportion is anyone's guess.

Are't Wildgrowth Walker and maindeck Unmoored Ego just bad?

do you mind explaining why? all the discard is to hopefully setup a good unmoored ego, and wildgrowth is just a way to gain a little life and pump with the explore creatures. i dont see how they work against each other at all...

I don't think they work against each other, but WGW is just a random 1/3 that might occasionally be an undercosted 2/4 - it just doesn't do much. I think there are better things you could get out of early drops, even if it's just removal or hand manipulation

Ego looks like a good sideboard card for when there's a specific card you just can't beat, but Jester's Cap effects have a history of being really weak due to negative tempo and card disadvantage, unless you're specifically playing against a 1-Win Condition control deck or combo deck. Spending a turn and a card to keep the other guy from playing a Steel Leaf Champion or Goblin Chainwhirler doesn't get you anywhere if he just plays a Thrashing Brontodon or Legion Warboss instead and keeps attacking

The scariest decks I see transitioning from the current meta:

    Gb Stompy (AssTro + SLC)
Rw Aggro (Chainwhirler + Burn + R/W filler)
UWR Control (Current UW with a nearly free splash for burn)
UR Tempo (UR Wizards + much improved counter/burn)

I think there are going to be a ton of people trying to force GB Midrange and Grixis Tapout, but those seem way meta-dependant.

It looks like you don't have a plan. Almost all those 1-ofs are just bad cards that are really high on the mana curve, and you have no ramp

Why add White? It makes your mana worse, and you're pretty much just getting removal that BG can already replicate.

If you're trying to build around Stitcher's Supplier and Glowspore Shaman, have you tried making the whole build lower to the ground to make the 3/1 body relevant? I haven't worked out a good build yet, but I think those two are going to fit together with Charnel Troll, Plaguecrafter, Thorn Lieutenant and one of the green Hexproof 4-drops in a more aggressive build.

    I'm loving the new cards.
Here's a Sultai control build I arrived at, based on some things others have posted.
    -snip-

Check the rotation schedule - a bunch of those cards are out of Standard when GRN rolls in

    EDIT:
Didn't recognize the post w/o deck tags in the previous quote. Disregard.

I think cutting Thief of Sanity is a good move.

The more I brew, the better Thorn Lieutenant looks - you get so much value against an Assassin's Trophy, and decks running red removal also look like they're going to be running 1-toughness attackers that turn TL into a 2-for-1. I'm just not sure it's at home in a deck that relies on 6-drops. Are you worried about larger aggro/midrange decks like Stompy just ignoring him and attacking through?

What's Deathgorge Scavenger for? Are you just running it as a 4/3 attacker, or do you have a specific Graveyard interaction in mind to try to hate?

Why Status // Statue before the 4th of either Vraska's Contempt or Assassin's Trophy? Seems like you'd be better off maxing out on Trophies before going into either of the more expensive cards.

You don't have a sideboard up, but I think Plaguecrafter is going to be a must-have somewhere in the 75, due to 3 undercosted green Hexproof fatties around, especially since he's still a live 1-for-1 against 'walkers and empty boards.

Common Annihilate makes my first thought "lolno."

The gold Common/Uncommon Instants and Sorceries beside Sizzle look bad, but the skeleton of Red removal and blue surveil creatures and card advantage looks pretty solid at the common/uncommon level.

I mean I like me a Suntail Hawk, but broadcasting this effect and waiting a turn kind of kills it.
This is something that's just way better in spell or ETB form

The ton of 4-/1-of's are a huge giveaway that this is an early draft, but I'm trying to play Assassin's Trophy in a deck with some resiliency and lategame.

Trying to go heavy black because I think Cabal Stronghold is one of the strongest things you can do - especially if AssTrop is seeing any play - and because the really integrated BG decks look pretty bad IMO.

Golgari Locket looks embarrassing, but I suspect I'm going to end up with more than one copy - it seems like it does a lot of things I want, from ramping toward 5-6 drops to buffing Karn tokens to adding card advantage v. control.

Plaguecrafter seems like it's going to be a necessary card when it comes to fighting both Stompy's Hexproof dudes and creatureless Teferi decks. Jamming as a 4-of, even though I know there's a good chance he trades for a 1/1 against Red/Boros/whatever that deck looks like post rotation.

Treasure Map + Karn, Scion of Urza is durdly as hell, but I think it's the best card advantage engine BG gets, and spamming artifacts makes Karn's -2 do more to protect itself or to close out the game. They (and the Duresses) might constitute too much of a focus on beating grindy UW matches, but I think Teferi is still going to be one of the boogiemen after rotation.

I tend to like maindecking some number of Duress, but if Nullhide Ferox sees frequent play, that number will probably be 1.

Doom Whisperer is so pushed, but I have a creeping suspicion he's not going to be good as long as removal exists. Still worth a try, even if he ends up getting replaced with something more resilient.

Dread Shade looks pretty dorky here, but I think it presents a real threat at a low enough mana cost that I would be happy trading with an AssTrop or Contempt, just to give the planeswalkers a better chance to stick to the board.

Anyone else brewing along these lines? Curious where other folks wind up

    EDIT

    19 SEP:
-2 Doom Whisperer -1 Treasure Map -1 Sentinel Totem
+1 Cast Down +1 The Eldest Reborn +1 Vraska, Relic Seeker +1 Ritual of Soot

I'd like to see a Standard viable deck with Doom Whisperer and Mnemonic Betrayal in it.
The deck would be called Demonic Mnemonic.
    The key cards should have first letters of D, E, M, O, N, I, and C.
If people ask what's in the deck, you could easily name them with that handy mnemonic.
Because DEMONIC would be the mnemonic for the Demonic Mnemonic deck.

You're the worst kind of person. :p

The only hope I have in avoiding that dystopian future is the dearth of good I's. Except Island. And **** Island

Elvish Visionary is deceptively great. I'll jam this guy in limited, but I don't think I'd play Thraben Inspector in constructed without its type benefits or flexible timing on the Clue.

    Weird.

If you built a deck for one of the dozens of sources of +1/+1 Counters to refresh it each turn, would spamming its activated ability even be good?

I don't think I'd be upset to pick this dude up early in draft. At worst he's a bear with {2}t: Shock or 2 pings.
