-Double mana cost.
-Hits softer.
-Only can ferry one creature at a time.
I guess Atheros just got really sleepy after being so proactive in the original block.
Also what is that goop on Elspeth's spear?
It is a Buy a Box promo, so it's meant to be unplayable by any means, even though Nexus exists.
I agree with everything you say, specially about overreacting on internet forums for no apparent reason.
Also, it has been said there's a theme on "building your own monsters" so that's most likely it, and we can pointlessly speculate on that. You get creatures that can be targeted by certain spells that will give your creature certain stuff. I want to think that it will be like the dice on Dice Forge, you know. You have a basis, then you customize your creatures as the game goes along.
If I had to guess, I'd suppose that box is a paper deckbox, described by Wizards as "perfect for carrying your spells while playing Magic® with your friends(!!!)" that fits exactly 60 sleeveless near mint cards (shall be throwing that into the garbage once you shuffled the deck twice), that comes with a promo card with full art, old Game Day promo style.
But of course, once this is revealed in due date I'll be atleast 85% wrong and people will likely be let down for whatever reason.

And the other one, it's just five lands!
FTV but no playable cards outside EDH (where every card is a staple) and you can't buy them anywhere.
You're not alone.
It is likely a card product, not a lore filler book.
I don't think players will be quiet until they print a boat. A regular boat.

I'll accept the warning even though this is the absolute truth.
