OK, so you can use LED for mana if you activate it BEFORE casting a spell but not afterwards until the spell has resolved, is that it? So there are only a handful of instances where you would be affected by the limitation I take it?
If Morphling is declared as a blocker and during the combat phase you use three mana to give it +3/-3, it would block the attacker, but not inflict any combat damage (just like all other instances where a creature is killed before getting to the Combat Damage Step), is that correct?
Does anyone have any suggestions for a blue card that would keep it alive so that it COULD still assign it's damage to the attacking creature?
Nevinyrral's Disk's activated ability on the stack is not an "artifac[t]" so it won't return to its owner's hand or otherwise be affected by Hurkyl's Recall.
But Nevinyrral's Disk does not get returned to your hand as per the first reply? Can someone explain the reasoning for that so I can apply it to future situations?
If I were to tap/activate Nevinyrral's Disk followed immediately by casting Hurkyl's Recall on my myself, then no artifacts (neither mine nor opponents) would be destroyed and all my artifacts would be returned to my hand, is that correct?
Sorry, what I am asking to confirm is that it only costs 1 colorless mana to activate the Circle of Protection: Red to prevent the damage from Kaervek's Torch and not an additional 2 mana.
If False Prophet is exiled/removed from the game (e.g. by Swords to Plowshares) does his ability/effect still trigger (all creatures are exiled)? According to what's printed, it would not, but according to Oracle text it would (I think).
Can you use Zuran Orb in response to a direct damage spell that would otherwise bring your life total to 0? Under the "old rules" I think you could, but with the more modern rules, I see people quote:
104.3b If a player’s life total is 0 or less, he or she loses the game the next time a player would receive priority.
Having last played during the Urza block, this doesn't really answer the question for me...
Here are two different scenarios which may or may not affect priority differently:
1) I'm at 1 life, my opponent casts Lightning Bolt on me. Can I respond using Zuran Orb and sacrificing two lands to stay alive? I guess what I'm asking is if I have the opportunity to put Lightning Bolt on the stack.
2) I'm at 1 life, I cast Earthquake for 3 points of damage to all players (and non-flying creatures). Can I respond using Zuran Orb and sacrificing two lands to stay alive?
If my opponent has three plain vanilla 1/1 non flying creatures in play (e.g. 3 x Dwarven Trader) and I have Repercussion in play on my side and I then cast Earthquake for 5 points of damage, would that cause a total of 20 points of damage to my opponent?
