  • posted a message on Lifeline + False Prophet
If I have Lifeline and False Prophet in play and Wrath of God is played, a ruling for Lifeline says:

"If more than one creature is on the battlefield and all the creatures on the battlefield go to the graveyard at once, then none of them are returned at end of turn."

Doesn't False Prophet go to the graveyard at the same time as the rest of the creatures and therefore Lifeline would fail to return it to play? I read somewhere else that False Prophet WOULD be returned to play and wasn't sure whether that was a mistake or whether there was something I was missing (more likely the latter, lol).

Very interesting, so Lifeline would keep bringing the 1/1 creature(s) back at the beginning of each end step and Aether Flash would keep frying it/them each time and this would continue so long as there was a creature in play each time Lifeline triggered (and nothing else changed obviously).

Thank you. What about something like Lifeline + Aether Flash? At the end of the turn, assuming there is still a creature in play, a 1/1 creature is returned from the graveyard to play, only to get zapped by Aether Flash. When the 1/1 creature hits the graveyard a second time, it would not get returned to play by Lifeline, correct?

Oh boy, not sure how I missed that text on Lifeline. OK, thank you, makes sense.

For someone like my who doesn't understand the nitty gritty as well as yourself, it seems that the moment Weatherseed Treefolk dies, both the creature's ability and Lifeline would trigger at that exact moment. Of course I know you're right, but what's the rule of thumb then for telling which actions happen immediately at trigger and which are delayed?

When the text on two cards instruct you (or seem to instruct you) to do something contradictory, which of the two take place? For example, take Weatherseed Treefolk and Lifeline. When Weatherseed Treefolk is put into a graveyard, assuming their is another creature in play, is it returned to your hand or put back in play?

  • posted a message on Bosium Strip + Counterspell
I wrote "So new spells/abilities may be added to the TOP of the stack during the resolution of previously played spells/activities on the stack" but what I meant was "So new spells/abilities may be added to the TOP of the stack during the resolution of the stack". OK, thanks for making everything clearer, this was very helpful.

Ahhhhh, this whole time I had the stack upside down in my mind. I thought I had read that things resolve from the "bottom" of the stack first, so I envisioned an inverted stack where the first card on the stack went on top, and the next ones went on the bottom (and then things resolved from the bottom upward to the top). It makes so much more sense now. The stack in MTG looks (and works) like a real world stack of paper. OK, so let me REPHRASE my question. So new spells/abilities may be added to the TOP of the stack during the resolution of previously played spells/activities on the stack? For example, a spell/ability at the TOP of the stack can resolve and then a new one can be added (to the top) whilst the original (BOTTOM) spell/ability is still unresolved?

EDIT: Oh, I just read your earlier post and I think you answered this, possibly after your edit.

And new spells/abilities may be added to the bottom of the stack DURING it's resolution? So a spell/ability at the bottom of the stack can resolve and then a new one can be added (to the bottom) whilst the topmost spell/ability is still unresolved?

Just to clarify, Lightning Bolt goes on the stack in Step #2, right? And if so, then I guess what I was missing is that new spells/abilities could be added to the stack AFTER some spells/abilities at the bottom have resolved. Or am I still mixed up?

In response to my opponent playing a spell, if I have Bosium Strip in play and the top card in my graveyard is Counterspell, can I activate Bosium Strip to play Counterspell to counter my opponent's spell (assuming I have the necessary mana)? Having last played in the Urza Block, I'm new to the stack, but if you put things on the stack in the order described, you'd have the opponent's spell at the top, then Bosium Strip's activated ability, then the Counterspell at the bottom resolving first and it seems the last two should be in reverse order (i.e. Bosium's Strip activated ability should resolve first, allowing you to play Counterspell). Is it because if you play two things in succession, you're allowed to choose the order in which they go on the stack, is that it?

  • posted a message on Two Booby Traps = 20 Points of Damage?
If I have two Booby Trap cards in play, each naming the same card, and my opponent draws the named card, I can sacrifice one Booby Trap, then the other, for a total of 20 points of damage, correct? I don't see any reason why not, but just wanted to check.

By the same token then, if I played Yare on Will-o'-the-Wisp to block three attacking creatures, I would only have to regenerate Will-o'-the-Wisp once as the combat damage is dealt all at the same time, is that correct?

  • posted a message on Earthquake + Repercussion + Circle of Protection: Red
If I have Repercussion in play and cast Earthquake for 5 points of damage and my opponent has 3 non-flying creatures, he would have to activate his Circle of Protection: Red three times in order to prevent the 15 points of damage from Repercussion, as Repercussion is hitting him three times for damage (once for each creature) and not all at once, correct? Of course an additional activation is needed to protect him from the 5 points of damage coming directly from Earthquake.

  • posted a message on Can you accumulate more than 3 counters on Pursuit of Knowledge?
Note the first ability on Pursuit of Knowledge is a replacement effect, that you can use whenever you would draw a card. Now just during your draw phase.

Thank you. So if you play a card such as Brainstorm, do you place 3 counters on Pursuit of Knowledge at once? And likewise for Sylvan Library, during your draw phase you could skip drawing the 3 cards you're entitled to and put 3 counters on Pursuit of Knowledge at once?
