Giant growth in standard and draft O_o . I thought GG was the green lightning bolt and would never be reprinted. I guess after divedown and blossoming defense they figured "why not?".
Well, you aren't entirely wrong there. It's technically the green lucky charm. A cycle that includes both Ancestral Recall and Healing Salve. The first is restricted in Vintage and banned in legacy the other has been deemed unprintable because of its low power level. The other 3 fall somewhere in the middle. Giant Growth stopped getting printed for a while to give it a rest, it was one of the most printed cards in the entire game.
The Lucky Charms are the life gaining artifacts printed from Alpha through Eighth Edition. (Ivory Cup, Crystal Rod, etc.) The cycle you’re referring to, which Giant Growth is part of, is the Boons.
Is it possible WotC has something hidden about A25? Have they ever not revealed something about a set before it released? Treasure cards from Zendikar come to mind. Just something that has been in the back of my mind...
I am not going to comment on Lulu, because I refuse to register for a site just to post one review.
First of all, the story was too short. When I saw "1/5" at the top of the Adobe Reader I expected it to be five pages, not paragraphs. This read more like a piece of poetry than a short story, as most of the word count was devoted to waxing lyrical rather than telling the reader anything of substance.
The story opens with a solid two paragraphs of the narrator whining about his lost love. This does not make him empathetic. This makes him look whiny. Notice that he doesn't actually say anything about what makes HER such a fine catch - it's always "Woe is ME, why doesn't anybody love ME, ME ME ME!!" I wouldn't blame her for walking out on a man with such emotional issues either.
Is this supposed to be historical fiction, or set in an alternate universe? Without knowing where, exactly, "out East" is, the impact of the line is lost.
The next paragraph is actually quite good and had me immersed in your imagery, although there were a few bizarre word choices in spots. (A moving ship as an "obstacle"? The briny smell of the water as "perfume"?)
The ending, unfortunately, is very abrupt. In my mind's eye the narrator has been looking down at the water up to this point, not up to the horizon. And the ending itself leaves me as baffled as the sailor. We get a few quotes straight off motivational posters but the narrator's thought process - why he decided to forget about his lost love, or what possibilities he sees beyond the horizon - is never really explained.
Thank you for your thoughts. I would have loved for it to be longer, but unfortunately it was for a short story contest and 600 words was the maximum. Perhaps some time I will work a little more on it.
I write a lot of random things, and I really like feedback. Here is a link to download an ebook version of a very short story I wrote. It is FREE. It's also available in the iBookstore, for those of you with an apple device... I would welcome any ratings/reviews, preferably on the site below.
I was starting to really suspect Beary as scum, but I couldn't find proof. That's why I tried to bring up the flavor thing. Oh well. It was an interesting experience.
Especially when you consider that the scum either 1. do not have fake claims, in which case they'd just choose whatever, or 2. have fake claims, which wouldn't be so easily modgamed.
I don't see how it is modgaming as much as flavor gaming... Not sure if that's any better. In a game where everyone seems to have unique flavor, there would be no reason not to basically use the flavor as given even when lying... Just my thinking.
My biggest issue with voting right now is something I noticed about the flavor of claims... All of the mafia kills so far have had the flavor of the victim being burned and of all the claims we've seen, two have basically mentioned that heat or fire could make them stronger...

WotC said this is the last Masters set in he foreseeable future. So... you may want to check out the dictionary entry for ultimate yourself...
For me the flavor fails when I realize that after one turn it abandons its web and goes on the offensive. Vigilance would have been great here.
*EDIT*
Apparently I can’t read this early in the morning. Thought I checked multiple times.

So, how are we going to get to absolutely sure?
@DKD - I actually was trying to get the answer of who ELSE you think is scum.

So, any actual case to present?
