The End of an Era

I am not sure, my first thought is no. As whoever goes first needs only a creature to play on turn 3 and a removal spell for turn 4.

Mana screw would end the game immediately.

Red cannot have any burn that could hit a player

Black cannot play any pay life effects or any effects that make players lose life.

I think the games could end very quickly I’m unfun ways.

However, the easiest thing to do is to build two highlander style decks, for this format and see how they play against each other before you sink too much time, energy, etc. into a cube.

thanks for the help guys, you have given me a lot to consider.

Yeah, I like the instant speed with upside. You can attack in and get the boost by addendum, or protect against a board wipe. It is also easily splash-able.

I didn't realize he had opened voting.

I certainly did not mean to step on Morphlings toes.

Is there some way we can move that thread to the main "cube forum" board. I would never have seen it if you had not told me. It has been up for over a month and only 8 people have voted and that includes me, just now. I think we want all the feedback possible.

So, it looks like it will be time consuming, but not that hard. Thanks to everyone who tried this. So, my strategy for doing this is to allow twenty entries for each color, 10 entries for each guild, and 10 non-dual land entries (I am curious what utility lands people play in cube). I was thinking about letting players list top shard cards, but I think we would have to do them all in one list.

A card would be assigned points based on where it ranks, and then its points average. so 20 for first place, 1 for 20th place. Any thoughts on this, and how long should we wait after allegiance to post the survey?

I really like a blind survey, to help prevent people copying others answers. Then we can just average the numbers. I have made a practice question below, can a couple of you take it, so I can see how practical it will be to sort the results.

I am pretty good at deck building, but new to the format, how do other players respond to mill decks?

I have also been looking at Zedruu.

Thoughts on either of those strategies?

    The Kaervek idea is interesting.

So I have a very optimized Niv deck and while I love him, he wins a lot.

I want to build something that is fun for the table.

Suggestions for a commander or deck that will be fun for the table to play against even if it is not Uber powerful.

Basically I want a commander deck to which to after game one. I don’t want to wear my group out with Niv.

Yeah, I think so. Combine it with other aristocrats cards like murderous redcap, and sac outlets, and you’re there.

Altough at 600 it will be more janky. An 8 man pod will see 360 cards, so you should see at least one a draft, probably 2.

I think ideally you would want one more effect at 600 cards, but at four there will be some drafts that are really good for it, some that are average, and a handful where it is not practical.

So I did the math, and be because Judith cross pollinates with Rakdos Aggro, I think running all four is perfectly reasonable.

Okay, so here is a related question. How many blood artist effects do you run to push aristocrats?

    Blood Artist
    Zuluport Cutthroat
    Falkenrath Noble
    Judith
    Poison Tip Archer

My cube is 405, and I want to support aristocrats, but I don't want it to be over supported, or take away from other archetypes. I want to support aristocrats.

Also, I really like Judith, aristocrats plus aggro support is really flexible. Not to mention, with Judy on the field, all your creatures trade up, kill any 1/1s who don't block, or help trade up for even bigger creatures by dealing multiple points of damage to something across across the board, makes blocking really hard for your opponent, and late game can be a finisher.

With recurring creatures gutterbones, gravecrawler, she is even more crazy.

Well typically control beats midrange, Aggro beats control, and midrange beats Aggro.

You might consider strengthening control to help push out some midrange decks.

I am curious to hear how this works out for you. My gut reaction is that it is really unfair. By drafting a voucher, I would effectively be drafting 1 or 2 cards more, per voucher than everyone else at the table. I think if you are going to do this, then the cards on the voucher need to be incredibly narrow, so that they only work together and not in any other decks. Otherwise the vouchers become the best draft pulls in the cube, and I think it could reduce diversity.

If you feel that the midrange strategies need more help, you can provide it, and remove the payoffs of more busted/fast mana-things. When I feel the format is getting stagnant, I pull out "packages of cards," and add in packages. I actually have a separate binder with different cube "packages" in it. Like a side board for the cube.

If the moxen are overpowering what you want the cube to do, add more hate or briefly remove a couple.

Maybe Eldrazi "invade" the cube for a month or two, and then disappear. I have actually been considering that myself lately, and I would remove a set of lands, and put pain lands and other colorless lands in their place to help support the eldrazi. Go down on other artifact creatures, or maybe pull a handful of cards from each color, and create an eldrazi section. 3 cards from each color, and 1 from each guild, is 25 eldrazi support cards.

Lately, my cube is visiting Ravnica and features multi-color (gold cards) heavily. I have added 20 new multi-color cards (1 per guild and shard) and more rocks that produce any color mana, and pulled 4 cards from every color and switched a few artifacts.

Also, I pulled out black hand destruction, and added in aggro instead. That way my drafters never quite get comfortable, but I don't have to over-haul everything.

If you want your cube to play differently, change it around and nudge your drafters in that direction, but again, I am supper curious to see how the vouchers work out.

Either way it is cube, so feel free to experiment, just listen to your drafters, and keep the play experience fun.

So, it doesn't load my list even after I put my cards in and it says, "list uploaded." and there does not appear to be a way to organize cards by curve, and see breakdowns by creatures, instants, etc.

Yes, I have a flicker/bounce in archetype in UW, and Venser is part of that. Do you think Doven is better than him even with the archetype?
