Why does Remulos Initiation exile itself???

It's a relic from before it used +1/+1 counters as a memory aid.

Werewolves are too rich a resource to reserve only for Innistrad and to restrict with DFC baggage. Expanding on that, what would werewolves be like on other worlds.

First, I believe the world where werewolves would best fit thematically aside from Innistrad is Theros. This is because the Greek myth of King Lycaon would fit perfectly in the Greek Mythology world of Theros.

    Examples below!

    Lykanus, Heretic of Heliod
    BRG
Legendary Creature - Werewolf Warrior (M)
    Hexproof from enchantments
Whenever a creature you control becomes monstrous or deals combat damage to a player, you may exile target artifact or enchantment.
    4/3
King Lykanus and his sons bargained with Phenax for a disguise Heliod would not see through. Many would say Phenax over-delivered.

    Lykan Ransacker
    3R
    Creature - Werewolf Warrior (C)
5R: Monstrosity 2 (If this creature isn’t monstrous, put 2 +1/+1 counters on it and it becomes monstrous.)
When Lykan Ransacker becomes monstous, you may discard a card. If you do, draw a card.
    3/3

    Curse-Spitter Lykan
    1BB
    Creature - Werewolf Shaman (R)
Whenever a player casts an enchantment spell, target player loses 2 life.
    2/3
The first child born a lykan made it clear to Lykanus that their transformation was not merely cosmetic. And thus his hatred for the gods grew.

    Oreskos Lykan
    4G
    Creature - Werewolf Warrior (C)
4G: Monstrosity 1 ((If this creature isn’t monstrous, put a +1/+1 counter on it and it becomes monstrous.)
    5/5
The lykans who despised the gods, yet did not share their kin's propensity for revelry or slaughter, found home among the leonin.

Roman mythology, while having no stories about people turning into wolves, does have the the two founding members of Rome being raised by wolves. So, it's not too much of a stretch to put the werewolf tribe on a Roman-based world.

    Examples below!

    Luto, Voice of Remulos
    1RWG
Legendary Creature - Werewolf Praetor (M)
Whenever a spell or another ability would cause you to create a token, create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token and 1/1 red and white Soldier creature token.
    Creatures you control have haste.
    4/4
"My cohort is like a family. The bonds we share ensure our victory."

    Remulos Initiation
    1G
    Sorcery (U)
Put two +1/+1 counters onto target creature you control. If it's a Human, it becomes a green Werewolf in addition to its other colors and creature types. Exile Remulos Initiation.
The blessings of the Wolf Mother are many.

    Howling Legionnaire
    2GW
    Creature - Werewolf Soldier (R)
Battalion - Whenever Howling Legionnaire and at least two other creatures attack, create a 2/2 Wolf creature token tapped and attacking.
    3/3

Going back to cultures with lore about men becoming wolves. Norse culture has its berserker lore, about humans turning into unfettered manimal fighters.

Thus, Norse based worlds like Valla, Kaldheim or whatever, should definitely have werewolves. Of course, they'd all have to be berserkers.

    Examples below!

    Fostr the Frenzy Fang
    2BRG
Legendary Creature - Werewolf Berserker (M)
    First Strike
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to an opponent, it deals that much damage to every other opponent.
    6/3

    Warg Herald
    RG
    Creature - Werewolf Berserker (U)
Warg Herald attacks each turn if able.
    4/2

    Ravenous Ulfrmann
    1BG
    Creature - Werewolf Berserker (U)
Whenever a creature dies, you may exile it if it was dealt damage by Ravenous Ulfrmann this turn. If you do, you gain 1 life.
    3/3

And lastly, for now anyway, I find the werewolves in Gaelic Mythology to be adorable. I'd like to see some if we ever return to Lorwyn or a world with similar source material.

    Examples below!

    Cathcrag the Wise
    3UG
Legendary Creature - Werewolf Druid (R)
    Vigilance
Whenever you draw a card, you gain 1 life.
At the beginning of each end step, if you gained 3 or more life that turn, untap all lands you control.
    4/4

    Clique-Guard Wulver
    1G
    Creature - Werewolf (C)
Kin to Faeries (Can't be blocked by Faeries. Gets +1/+1 if you control a Faerie.)
    2/2

    Wulver of the Bounty
    3G
    Creature - Werewolf Druid (C)
When Wulver of the Bounty enters the battlefield, you gain 3 life.
    2/4

And that's all I've got. Feel free to post your own idea. Happy howling!

    Tower Lightning
    3R
    Instant (R)
Tower Lightning deals X damage to each opponent and each commander you don't control where X is the number of commanders on the battlefield plus 1 multiplied by the number of opponents.
A cause that can't survive without its figurehead is a lost one.

    [X= O(C+1)]
