There is some talk of people being like "Well Force of Will is better because so much fanservice that MTG won't do" as a pushback response. Yet if people wanted fanservice on their cards in MTG, there is this handy thing called alters which allow for much creativity and fanservice is one of those areas.
As for no complaints being made when the art looked sexy, its so false I don't even know where to start.
New Trostani feels really bizarre. One part anthem, one part etb soldiers, 2 parts brooding saurian...? What's the plan here? I can't see anything but GW good stuff of the oddest variety.
I mostly hate it but I do wonder if there's almost enough of this sort of creature to build a Blasphemous Act deck in Modern yet... It was definitely too fragile to build that deck around just Boros Reckoner but a second redirector might make it...ummm... plausible?
In some aspects, this is actually superior to Lazav, Dimir Mastermind. 2 less power for 2 less cost, hexproof traded for surveil, a repeatable activatable ability instead of a triggered do-or-don't one.
