BRAWL IN STORES
Another popular request has been having special Brawl events and support in stores. And with Throne of Eldraine, that's becoming a reality!
During the Throne of Eldraine season, there will be a Brawl event October 26–27 at a local game store near you! It's called Magic Weekend: Brawl, and it is a special multiplayer Brawl day!
Come on down, bring your Brawl deck (or pick up one of the new preconstructed ones!) and prepare to play! It's casual and fun. Additionally, anybody who participants in a Magic Weekend: Brawl event and has an MTG Arena account will get an email with a unique code for a Brawl cosmetic item in the game!
And that's all in addition to whatever your store owner is offering, too, of course. We don't recommend putting prizes on winning at these events—we find multiplayer is best when it's light and the focus is on the fun—but there may be prizes awarded in some fashion. As always, you'll want to get in touch with your local store to learn all their specific details.
@Mimicvat and kysg Aether Gust should be a 3-of in the sideboard. It doesn't deal with a resolved one, but it sure does put one on the stack back on top of their deck (it doesn't counter, so "cannot be countered" is irrelevant) and it time walks them. Much better than Transmogrifying Wand.
I wouldn't say either is strictly better it's up to personal preference. To even present that idea is ridiculous when it comes to sideboard.
I've found mono blue still has serious game in 1v1, but in bo3 I'm not a fan of that damn pro blue dinosaur being boarded in. Its almost "5 mana, win", though I did manage to beat it in one game where I was massively ahead by the time it dropped.
what are you talking about...could just play Transmogrifying Wand out of the board for that. Shifty can't do anything against that.
That spirits deck I don't think is going to stick around very long. Though, I think we will move away from tempo in favor of a more Aggro stance, we lost most of the cheap counters that made the deck effective.
its not about budget, it never has been about budget, the origins of this deck thread was about developing competitive decks.
I mean, right there in the second paragraph of the original post:
“One of the advantages of Stompy in Modern is it's an inherently cheap deck that doesn't require any truly expensive cards.”
Whether you like it or not, whether you agree or not, whether you like to lord your collection value over others or not, budget IS a consideration in this deck and has been from the start. A reason people are drawn to mono color builds as modern entry points is because they’re budget accessible in a way that multicolor builds are not. Also in that paragraph, “As such, if you're brand new to Modern and are looking for a starting point, this is a great one. ”.
You might as well remove that paragraph entirely if we start to take the “you need to run a $200 landbase in this monocolor build or you’re not welcome to talk here” attitude.
Dunno, really hard to talk about budget when it comes to this deck.
What do you mean by afford standard? Are you playing aggro/control/midrange? if you get an aggro deck it will be way cheaper or stick to mono-colored. A midrange or control will cost you serious cash if you aren't careful. 3-color decks will cost way more just because of the manabase. Also do want a Tier 1 build or Tier 2? Those should help figure out where the costs should be.
I'm oblivious to current standard prices, but a few years back? A competitive, non 'copy the latest PTQ winners deck' could easily run someone a few hundred dollars. Today may be different. Again, I've no basis for your answer beyond prices 'back in the day'. Though, if anything in Standard is at all historical, it's still right difficult for a monocolor/aggro deck to take out a properly made tri-color. In essence, GL winning.
You should take a look at Decklists from SCG tour/ 5-0 competitive lists on MTGO / Mythic Championship qualifier/championship lists. You might notice one deck that shows up a lot and that is mono-red aggro and that deck is not that expensive, I think it is around 100$
Prices you can check at Mtggoldfish/Tcgplayer.com/cardkingdom.com
and some mono-colored decks have worked their way to the top of the food chain, Mono-Blue Tempo was one such deck and White Weanie had gotten there as well.

Hopefully this kicks it back into high gear.

is Lotus Field a 1-of? or it just doesn't have a place due to Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx?
Also, I thought we had way more tutor cards for less?
we do have some interesting tools at our disposal.
Also how is Brightwood Tracker a good mana sink, 6 mana just to find a creature with 4 mana investment?
T1 Stomping Ground + Llanowar Elves
T2 Land + Blood Sun
T3 Lotus Field so should have 6 mana. Play Samut, Tyrant Smasher. Play 2CMC creature
T4 Land + Drakuseth Maw of Flames, -1 Samut, Drakuseth is 9/8 Flyer with haste
Go to Combat
deal 4 damage to opponent, swing for 9, opponent down to 7
T5 Land + Banefire = Game??
or maybe this
T1 Stomping Ground + Llanowar Elves
T2 Land + Blood Sun
T3 Lotus Field so should have 6 mana. Play Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner, untap Lotus Field, play Samut, Tyrant Smasher. Play 2CMC creature.
T4 Land + Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, -1 Samut, Drakuseth is 9/8 Flyer with haste, untap Lotus Field, Play Ghalta, Primal Hunger, ghalta has haste.
Go to Combat
deal 4 damage to opponent, swing for 21, game??
And this is not to say you couldn't play multiple Lotus Field
or for that matter Rhythm of the Wild or Domri, Anarch of Bolas or Domri, Chaos Bringer
