Ive dropped him a few years ago, but with some of the strong on curve creatures and ETB effects attached to them, Im wonderong if I should give this guy another shot
Anyone still using this guy in the BGR section?
I have a larger cube and kept him because he was an OG, but looking at the other 6 drops in black, red, or green, he gets passed all of the time.
Which card in this three color combo did you replace him with?
The addition to Blink effects make this card great.
The other part of this card is that cantrips and anthem effects make your other guys that much stronger when one character dies.
So for powered cubes this guy is great in ramp to go wide and still maintain presence after losing 2 satyrs. Otherwise hes a bit slow. Our testing has found him to be a huge game changing BOMB, sans a boardwipe, the trample changes the game!
I love this card. It just needs to be dealt with, period.
Try this with cards like Sneak Attack or other cheat cards if you dont feel like splashing all 3 colors
The unblockable alone can be an autowin
I played this card long ago for its flexibility, or so I thought.
The 1 red mode is not doing enough and the 3 mana mode in most red decks was too slow compared to other huge playmaking 3 drop options.
Now, if you have a house rule that you can play both sides of the card at once, then this card at 2RR is still not citting the mustard when other cards such as Hellrider would be more preferred
I dropped Harrow for Cultivate this past year.
Note that our cube is powered, but we still have slower games.
Harrow just wasn't having the impact it needs with the relative increase of power and speed you are seeing at the lower end of the curve from cards being printed over the past few years.
It honestly was great before, but now it just feels too slow and was being used more as a reaction to strip mine effects, or suboptimal when a turn could have utilized a 2 mana or 3 mana high impact card that put the opponent on the ropes versus setting up a combo thay may not fruition until 2+ turns later, when the match had already been decided.
The 3/2 trample body was enough to auto include for 1G.
The potential for recurring card draw and replay after turn 1 or 2 is what makes this guy just insane
I feel that in aggressive white/X decks, especially weenies, Hero of Bladehold is the icing that put the deck over the top. It just has the power to finish games, and what I love is the +1/+0 effect to your weenies and tokens, the extra two bodies is gravy.
Is it critical, probably not, but for example is R/W Agro or Midrange, it reliably keeps that pressure up. Throw in damage, removal, blink, etc from White and a shared color (like red), and this thing becomes a necessity for your opponent to deal with as she can and will spiral out of control quickly.
I love this card as a reanimator/discard and a potential blowout. Even later in draft, this ia a great pick. It big win is its "unpredictable math" which can shape any many directions - i.e. a Fact or Fiction can add a total of 2-3 cards to the GY and 2 to 3 to hand as insta fuel, which isn't uncommonn in these colors
I still enjoy this card very much. It is a great reanimator and tinker target, and works well in "Artifacts Matter" Decks. It's lifegain has been nifty, even with a one time connect
Has anyone played this card with one of the new pitch creatures yet?
Grief - Pitch, remove a card. Then Mimic Vault again and continuously on your opponent's draw step to lock them out of the game.
I been a bit reluctant to play this as it takes 6 mana to essentially gain your first activation and I feel its a bit too slow for today. How are others finding this?
Yes this card was great with the Lorwyn Evokes, and further shines with the MH2 cards.

The Exile deals with a lot of painful creatures
