    Hej zetabass,
its no one ofs. WotC decided to have open decklists but the sideboard is not showing the number of cards, only which different cards are included in the sideboard. thats why theres only 8 cards.
I don't think that even two Militia Bugler increase the probability of hitting a one of sideboard card enough to justify a lot of one of's. I think you only want one of's in the sideboard if it's a 4-drop thats a little harder to cast and cards that you don't want to draw in multiples. Another case would be if you can't effort to play more because you need you're sideboard slots for other, more important cards.
On the 4-Thalia topic: as long as phoenix is one of the best decks (if not the best) in modern you want 4 thalia, i think thats a no brainer.

    Hey hey,
what do you think about Mirran Crusader as a sideboard option (for Hogaak, Jund and maybe Dredge)? I am going to play a big event (MKM Series Frankfurt) the upcoming weekend and i'm not a big fan of Leyline of the Void or Ravenous Trap in the Humans sideboard. Drawing a leyline when you need pressure or a relevant piece of interaction is just horrible and the trap is just a one-shot and we play Thalia (I shave some but they block so well against bloodghast/Gravecrawler and slow Looting and the likes).
The Crusader blocks Vengevine and any other creatures except for hogaak and hits really hard while never beeing blocked. Also i saw no red removal spells in the lists at the Mythic Championship so far, only black/green stuff. It's really good versus Jund except for Bolt but the same is true for Mantis RIder which is a powerhouse against them. As Jund performed well at the MC i'm excpecting it to have decent metagame-share, the same is true for Hogaak.
I think we can beat Hogaak without playing to much gravehate: a friend of mine went 9-2 (2. place) yesterday at the MTGO Modern Challenge going 5-0 against Hogaak with only one Cage in the board. Naming Hogaak with Meddling Mage and/or bouncing it with Reflector Mage gives us enough time to start pressuring, the biggest problem then would be multiple Vengevines which we can easily beat with Crusader.
I'm also considering either going up to 3 copies of Plague Engineer or including one Izzet Staticaster in the board.

Im looking forward to hear what you guys think about that, i will be testing it later today.

Could someone explain to me the choice to have 2 basics, soecifically island+plains? I thought forest+plains would be more intuitive, if we're planning to play basics at all

You need basics in Path to Exile/ Assassin's Trophy/ Field of Ruin matchups to at least get the mana advantage from Path to Exile/Trophy.
Island + Plains is the choice because you want to cast your images and deputies of the island frequently and you have a lot of white and/or blue spells. Also you cant cast t2 mantis rider if you go forest into noble on turn 1. Island is the basic land i get first most of the time when i get pathed or field of ruined. Also you have no green cards in the maindeck except for noble hierarch which you can cast with 16 of your 19 lands. The sideboard cards like collector ouphe or gaddock teeg are sometimes hard to cast but one basic forest won't change that so we'll have to rely on our Canopy and rainbow lands or vial to do the job.
I hope that answers your question

    Hey folks,
i play humans since february and it was a blast. I have a matchwin percentage of 70% and it feels like the most powerful deck i ever played in modern. But now i have a hogaak problem so i worked on a new 4c list. Let me know what you think about it.

Some explanation on the card choices:
To beat the Hogaak deck and have a better dredge matchup i cut Kitesail Freebooter from the deck and added 3 Rest in Peace. Also i think Unsettled Mariner is underrated and black doesnt add much to the deck right now. The only reason to go black would be Plague Engineer which is quite good but i think Deputy of Detention/ Izzet Staticaster are just as good.

By having access to a cleaner manabase we not only get Rest in Peace but also Path to Exile, the most efficient removal spell in the format. That's relevant in the face of all the new Midrange brews popping up with modern Horizons as well as being real good vs Izzet Phoenix. Rest in Peace, Gaddock Teeg and Collector Ouphe are of relevance against all the new Urza decks.

Looking forward to read your opinions on this.
