Hey @Breathe1234, you mentioned this card in the other thread - how is it for your crew? I feel like since we don't have as many 1-cost spells as in constructed that it's tougher to fill the gy to make this consistently efficient. But I haven't tried it so am curious how it's been for you.
Haha yeah I think it's the thick short neck that makes it look wee.
I've been liking it a lot and it's been reminding me of primeval titan and teferi-5. PT in the sense that it's a threat they have to deal with that is also ramping you (and keeps ramping you the longer it lives), and teferi in the sense mentioned by OP, that it's a 5 that sorta costs net 3. I like GD's mid-turn treasure a bit better than Teferi-5's EOT untap b/c the treasure lets you double spell the turn it comes down.
it's less than half as good as the wheels in the combo b/c it doesn't refill your hand at the same time, so if they're already low on cards it doesn't do much but it does have 2 other modes that can help keep it from being dead?
With more people playing narset/leovold/breacher wheel combos, has anyone tried running this ok-but-not-great card again as an extra copy of the pitch hand and draw X effect? or is it still just too clunky to be worth it?
I was hoping to get some feedback this week, but I think it didn't end up being in the draft pool. When he was played in our group a few weeks ago he went off once but the other times probably would have been better as a carnage tyrant. I'm still hoping it can get there.
Yeah, same. Was a bit surprised as it seemed like the ~3 turn mill clock would be pretty brutal in some matchups, as stated here - but we just haven't seen it happen. I think one player got it to work alright when we were briefly running self-mill combo. Just surprised how quiet it's been in our group.
Thanks for sharing!
Cosima was pretty good for us too, the game I saw I think it came down a turn early and drew 3 cards when it came back? Share the concerns about it being kinda slow and clunky.
Battle Mammoth was very solid in the GW midrange deck I saw it in - drawing a card off an opponent's Primus trigger.
I really want Vorinclex to get there, it hasn't happened much yet (one player did get to immediately ultimate a Nissa WStW which was fun, but otherwise it just ate removal where both Primeval Titan and Carnage Tyrant would have been better. Going to keep hoping though cause it's a wacky card.
I'm still very skeptical of the reliability of Masked Vandal, but if it ends up being good, would love to play it!
Haste & trample is a rare combination in green, am hoping the immediate value of an evasive attack makes up for the real concerns about the lateness of the doubling season ability. It's such a fun effect (immediately ulting PWers, +1/+1 counter wackiness etc), so we're giving it a shot.
