This is the current decklist I'm looking at, holding off on purchasing some of the cards until I've figured out a couple more details. Appreciate any thoughts on the below:
3. Milling - Undecided on Hedron Crab vs Embalmer's Tools. Hedron Crab has synergy with The Gitrog Monster and is a creature, but I like that Embalmer's Tools allows the use of untapped zombies and yields potentially more Sidisi triggers.
4. Lifegain - Is lifegain needed in this deck? If so, is Whip of Erebos worth including, and what would it replace?
5. Scroll Rack - How good have people found this to be? Any suggested card to swap out for it?
6. Cavern of Souls - As above, how good have people found this card to be? I'm considering swapping out City of Brass.
2. I wouldn't worry about the land count personally. I've got 35 lands in my deck with 2 mana rocks and 2 mana dorks, it hasn't been an issue in my games.
3. Crab is a good include I think.
4. I don't think life gain is really needed. Plus it exiles cards if you use it's activated ability.
5. I've got no experience with this card in this deck. Personally I don't think it's for this deck.
I want to build Ezuri, Claw of Progress as an Elf Tribal deck. I tried a more Competitive build and found it kind of meh for my liking. At the same time I don't want something complete jank and casual.
I found an Unmoored Ego in my collection and will test it, along with other removal. I like that it searches nearly all zones for the named card, so I'm nearly 100% sure to find and exile it.
With Praetor's Grasp I can only search the library, but I don't have to name a specific card.
As Xantcha, Sleeper Agent enters the battlefield, an opponent of your choice gains control of it.
Xantcha attacks each combat if able and can't attack its owner or planeswalkers its owner controls.
You confuse ownership of a creature with control of a creature.
Yes, however the 1 piece of Equipment in my deck (Nim Deathmantle is removed, I need to update the list) is Hero's Blade and it attaches itself to a Legendary Creature when the creature enters the battlefield. This gets around the usual restrictions.
I don't think it's possible to equip Xantcha when it's under control of an opponent as per rule 502.33a.
[Quote]
Equip is an activated ability of artifact Equipment cards. The phrase "Equip [cost]" means "[cost]: Move this Equipment onto target creature you control. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery.
I've been told it works with Xantcha but I'll double check with a Judge friend.
Tree of Perdition should definitely not be in the deck.
Why not? The tree could be sac-reanimated, and if you eternalize the tree you could turn target player's life into 4 instead of 13.
It's not a control card, and it is a huge threat. Try casting this and see what happens before you can activate it the next turn. You will be targeted by everything and it will probably just die.
Target player loses 27 life is not a control card, it is a burn card. If you play this, you better be applying a lot of pressure.
Unless you want to use it as a combo piece - discard it and reanimate it during someone's end step, kill them on upkeep.
Thanks for all the suggestions - I'll have to sit down and do some more work on the list when I get some time.
Here's the list as it sits now and it certainly needs some work.
I've only taken apart some of my Competitive decks and 1 or 2 casual ones - Zur (Shimmer Myr version), Ezuri, Claw of Progress, Inalla and Grothama. Those at least are the ones I can remember. I've certainly proxied up several decks to try over the years but found out they weren't for me.
Outside of Sidisi which I'm actively tuning right now, most my decks haven't changed too much since they were first built. The only exception to this is Mizzix which did go to a full storm build and I've since changed to use Thousand-Year Storm.
Nope, unless there is a "target" in the text it's not targeted. Same thing with Godsend, you just exile one creature that blocks or is blocked, even if it has shroud, hexproof or even protection from everything (aka Progenitus when it blocks your creature with the Godsend on it).
To keep this on topic:
This friday, I'm going to play again. I'm still pondering which changes to make and what cards to cut. The RiP is hanging like a sword of Damocles over the table and I need to find a way to tackle it. Voidslime is an option, but I don't like one-time-use effects.
Ah that's true.
Sounds like you may have the problem of RiP solved, let us know how it goes.
I don't mind if something like RiP hits the field as long as I've got a response and not too full of a graveyard. I've had my yard nuked multiple times in a game last week due to a curse (I believe that's what it was) and just accepted the fact that I was going to lose that game.
My issue with getting to the 32 different colour combinations is that sometimes I like multiple commanders that overlap in colours. I now have two BR decks, two Karador decks (one is optimized, one is Spirit tribal).. and I am working on two BG decks.
Also, life is getting busy. I used to build 3-4 decks per year, now I think I will try to get one done per year, and focus on updating my decks.
I've got a lot of overlap now and several of my decks do Graveyard things, which I'm ok with.
My biggest issue is not updating deck which is something I'm trying to do now.
Please. I have 450 decks. All casual vintage (and 10 EDH for fun). I make like 5 new decks a month and I don't like undoing decks. Complain when your whole collection doesn't fit in one box.
wat.
Do they have any money cards in them? Do you buy new cards for each or just put them together from draft chaff or something? Are they anywhere near competitive?
Since everyone is sharing, personally I've got 7.5K commander cards, all sleeved in black dragonshields, but I only have a few decks together at a time. Zirilan (since 2013 or so), Phelddagrif (since 2017 though I've built him multiple times before), and then whatever my most recent couple deck(s) are from the main collection. Also every commander precon, favorite draft deck for each color pair, and a few random legacy/modern/casual decks. Plus a few complete set cubes (khans and SWTG fan set) and one near-complete set cube (conspiracy TTC). Sold off all my sealed product recently for almost a grand, except for my last box of CNS.
It all takes up 3 of those big 12-box honeycomb things BCW makes, although there's still quite a bit of free space (happily). And it's all in some shipping container somewhere. kiiinda nervous about it.
Personally I think keeping so many decks together at once is kind of waste since you've ever got to move cards around, use proxies, play subpar manabases, or just spend a ton. And generally I only ever want to play my most recent one anyway. But to each his own. I don't stay very attached to my decks - few weeks and they're usually toast. But I've created nearly a hundred at this point (currently...90? Maybe 91? I forget).
I've taken apart far too many decks over the past couple years (all formats). Most of my Commander decks stay together but rarely get updated.
1. I like Filth, with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth you can have unblockable creatures. Lazav, the Multifarious is great too, can be any card in our grave.
6. I don't think Cavern of Souls is needed in this deck.

Win Cons - Combat damage via Overrun effects or Triumph of the Hordes or Craterhoof Behemoth.
I've got Cloudstone Curio and Aluren in here to get repeated value out of my ETB creatures, maybe it's too cute but I kind of like it.
Suggestions for cuts?
I can't bring myself to cut Void Winnower, he shuts down so many decks!
I'd put Preator's Grasp in because it's so versatile.

Put in the actual pieces for the Food Chain combo with Eternal Scourge, Tidespout Tyrant and Walking Ballista. I'd like to fit Lazav, the Multifarious in here some how.

That's sort of the idea.
Here's my list - https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/10-09-18-apl-xantcha-sleeper-agent/
Xantcha needs protection like Lightning Greaves and Nim Deathmantle.

Outside of Sidisi which I'm actively tuning right now, most my decks haven't changed too much since they were first built. The only exception to this is Mizzix which did go to a full storm build and I've since changed to use Thousand-Year Storm.

LOL, I've got the following Commander cards just sitting here waiting for decks - Lazav the Multifarious, Emmara, Soul of the Accord, Circu, The Locust God, Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Edgar Markov, Karn, Silver Golem, Breya and Sygg River Guide. I certainly don't need anymore.
I've taken apart far too many decks over the past couple years (all formats). Most of my Commander decks stay together but rarely get updated.
