I don't have an issue with combo decks. I play a mixture of both and sometimes a game just has to end, combo is a means to an end.
I remember a recent game with my [[Chainer, Dementia Master]] deck. After about 3 miserable hours the game was finally over. A combo from any one of us could have gotten a few more games in that night. They other table playing with us had 3-4 games to our 1!
I do play some all in competitive combo decks (actual cEDH decks) and they are consistent. A way to power down combo decks is to remove Tutors. An example is my [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] deck which has a [[Food Chain]] combo. However outside of [[Sidisi, Undead Vizier]] and [[Razaketh]] I've got no tutors. I've only ever had the [[Food Chain]] combo go off once because usually the pieces or tutors are removed right away.
This brings me to my final point - run interaction. Removal, counterspells, protection, etc.

Jan 30, 2019Posted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from philosifer »i cannot reccomend enough a camera bag off of amazon. Its similar to the pirate labs bags that have the customizable dividers. i have 10-11 decks at a time in ultrapro 200 ct boxes and each has a section
this is what mine looks like
you can get them for about $30 and there are pockets that hold paper, pens, and dice just fine. the tripod staps work great for rolled up playmats as well
I used a Camera back for a while.
Jan 24, 2019I've got my play sets from my Modern days (my Legacy deck don't play duals because I don't have enough) but that's hardly enough for the amount of decks I own. Thankfully most places/people I'm play with are fine with proxies if I've got the card.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
I think the signets would be a good fit if you can find room. While not perfect they are good mana fixing.

Apart from that I find the Signets really useful in my build.
Yeah, fetches aren’t really in my budget. I’ll probably pick up the other two shocks now that they’ve been reprinted, but I think generally the lands have just been screwy draws, and it’s as much a draw thing as it is colour fixing. One thing I really want for the build is Corpse Harvester, which will get me either swamp shock as well as Fetid Pools. Otherwise I guess I could go cheap fetches with Evolving Wilds and such. I’m just not keen to spend money on Fetches when I don’t run anything here to get more than one use from them. It is a good suggestion, though, thanks for the input!
I understand that, they are getting on the pricey side.
Corpse Harvester is a nice stand in and can get Zombies too. I haven't actually played him yet.
I play fetches in all my decks because I own them, the deck thinning is mostly mute in EDH but I like insuring I have access to the colors I need.

People are starting to run more just because of my Sidisi & Karador decks. I'm leaning towards Assassin's Trophy & Caustic Caterpillar but am open to suggestions from anyone else that has had to make the same move.
I highly suggest slotting in both cards if you can find space.
Assassin's Trophy is a staple for me now in BG decks, it can hit so much.
Quote from arcane trouper »A couple ideas I have been going through in my head...
- I think people are overvaluing the value of the Prime Speaker Vannifar. I could be wrong, but wouldn't we just rather play Birthing Pod as it doesn't have summoning sickness? And that Birthing Pod is a fine choice, but that option has always been open to us. Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't seem like Prime Speaker Vannifar is providing much of anything new to us.
- I previously disregarded Underrealm Lich as a card that looks great, but in reality is slow and doesn't provide that much value for how much it costs. Maybe this is old news, but did people realize the potential with Sylvan Library? I missed this at first, but now I'm thinking including them both is worth it.
I think the big thing with Vannifar is the fact she is creature which lines up well with Sidisi. I'm not sold on her mainly because I'd have to retool my entire list.
Underrealm Lich and Sylvan Library are totally worth the room especially with The Gitrog Monster. The card draw is very realivent and has been nothing but great for me the couple times I played it.
Jan 20, 2019What happens when I go through my binder and find a Darksteel Plate and Umezawa's Jitte that need a home? Well I build a Voltron deck naturally. It's probably the only EDH archtype I haven't tried.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Here's the list:
I'm going for more of an Enchantress build with some Equipment sprinkled in.
Only had a couple game with the deck so far and it's been awesome. Estrid's Invocation is broken, double up on your best enchantment helps to close out the game quicker. The pillow fort cards help with crack back. Plus the super secret spicy tech of Tawnos's Coffin throws people for a loop.
As of right now I want to find room for Bloom Tender, maybe drop another land since my Average CMC is 2.74.
Comments and suggestions welcome.

Same here but for my Rafiq deck too.
Unobtainable (because I'm not ever spending the money) Mishra's Workshop.

The price spike is probably due to Prime Speaker Vannifar.
I'll probably add in Intruder Alarm simply because I run Seedborn Muse and lots of things that tap to activate. So anytime I get a zombie in play all the other creatures will tap and I'll be able to do more in a single turn. Also, it just combos too well with Prime Speaker Vannifar.
She definitely did plus that mill Adviser creature.
It will also synergize quite good with Mesmeric Orb.
Jan 15, 2019While my play group would probably be fine with Wish cards I don't want to run them in the deck.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Erebos, God of the Dead is great and I've slotted him into this build (more for card draw) but his effect goes away if he's removed. Stigmalasher's effect stays.
I'll likely keep Gibbering Fiend just because he's a lower CMC.
I miss read Marionette Master, oops
There's certainly some sub optimal mash ups in the deck, I've tried to leave those in the side board for now. They might even get cut after trying them and seeing how bad they indeed are. However I do want to slot some in so people see the deck isn't truely broken.
I've added some consistancey to the deck with my changes. Spell based discard/wheel/entomb/mill effect is 7 now vs the 5 of my first rendition. Plus discard/mill on creatures is up to 6 vs the previous 3.
The only way to tell how the deck will work is to test it, hopefully this weekend.
Also how exactly does Murderous Redcap + Flayer of the Hatebound = auto win? For some reason I'm missing something and want to be able to explain it.
Jan 15, 2019Now that all of Ravnica Allegiance has been spoiled I'm looking at slotting Prime Speaker Vannifar and Intruder Alarm into the deck.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Any help in coming up with B. Pod chains and sequencing?
Jan 15, 2019TheHiscock posted a message on [Focused] Sidisi, Brood Tyrant: Zombie horde and shenanigans! (3 versions!)Why not run Intruder Alarm to run tap the creatures easier?Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
It's something I'm considering with my build (though I hope you have one considering the price has spiked).
