If i m not mistaken the original price on those are like $200 (for the box with walkers on boosters)
If they are out of boosters (already opened) it is better to compare the price on Starcity games or Card Kingdom
.
The msrp was $249.99 for each of the sets. The first set sells for about $650, the 2nd set for about $350. The singles about equal out to $700, and $350 on the secondary market.
star city games and card kingdom have very high prices. Tcgplayer and ebay have more market price prices.
Well Krosan grip has split second. So you can’t fetch any lands with that on the stack. You can only tap lands and resolve triggers in response to krosan grip.
Sliver Queen seems like another spike, for the same reasons (I was going to use her as my Superfriends general, and then Atraxa got printed). Some people really want all five colors. Some people just want to throw their opponents for a loop. And some people just like 2: create a 1/1 token.
Some people like to buy reserve list cards that have a high casual appeal.
Sliver queens price has almost nothing to do with Planeswalkers in any capacity.
It’s price is a direct result of popularity of slivers. And the fact that it can’t be reprinted.
Rings of bright hearth is a card that spiked because of this set.
What do you think? Proliferate makes a comeback, will we go back to New Phyrexia/Mirrodin with that mechanic in Standard? Infect part 2 ??? -1/-1 counters part 2 ???
Maybe its been mentioned but I'm ready to see Karn go back and see what happens.
I think these Planeswalkers that care about artifacts in standard with literal zero artifacts is the bigger clue that we’re going back to Mirrodin. Or the giant hanging plot thread from Dominaria. Ya know where karn says he’s going back to blow it up.
Ok, so I've done drafting at the local card shop for years. And I've never ever gotten owned, scoring 0-3 multiple drafts in a row.
And yet here in arena, that's exactly what happens for me. Repeatedly.
Arena routinely offers me drafts without seeing many playable rares. Mostly, the rares I see are lands.
The opponents I'm coming up against regularly have decks full of top-picks playables, rares and mythics. Tonight I wrote it down mainly because the first deck I came up against was stupidly powerful, dropping bomb after bomb. FWIW, I was running Black/White lifelink with 2 Mortify, an Ethereal Absolution and a Basilica Bell-Haunt
So I thought I'd come here to ask if this is normal for Arena.
I'm just finding that drafting is mostly like this on Arena for me, does anyone else routinely get offered absolute rubbish and get owned by something resembling a constructed deck?
It's not fun, it's totally ruining Arena for me if I can't draft without getting smashed.
Maybe blow off steam with your pals? This just seems like your complaining. Perhaps you should take a break? And then start drafting a different format after your break.
16 spoilers tomorrow! Hopefully we get something good.
Edit: Overall I'm pretty dissapointed with the spoilers today. 2 of the 3 mythic planeswalkers were spoiled, and nothing seems even close to playable for this deck. Liliana could be alright in a tokens build I guess...
Lili ultimate pretty much wins the game on the spot. It’s not like we don’t play any walkers who are only good because of doubling season
Obliterate is a better Jokulhaups, depending on your meta.
Also the guy above who mentioned running basics is spot on. 10 duals 10 shocks 10 fetches is a terrible mana base. Non basic hate will crush you, and you are also giving up all the basic land ramp. You will find you will probably only need a couple R/B sources and much more W/U/G.
As for the walkers themselves, compile a list for us to comment on, there are too many now. I would prioritise ones that create tokens to defend themselves, or have a powerful enough minus that you can cash in and hope they survive.
Strong disagree about the mana base. If the meta has no non basic mass land destruction it is superior to basics. Let’s not get it twisted. You can still run the 2 drop green ramp spells that get non basic forests. Plus artifact ramp as well.
It is very expensive. But that doesn’t mean that a pile of basic lands in your 5 color deck is ideal. It is not.
That’s not true. I want to cast it for 6. Commander players don’t just eat up all the unplayably high cmc cards with a spoon.
It’s most playable in commander or kitchen table. But we want cool good cards, just like everyone else.
8 is where it has to be because it does so many things.

glacier
Snow waste
Tap add diamond symbol.
Although glaciers are litteral desserts, I feel like wotc would make it a waste and not a desert.
They brought back deserts for Amonkhet, but they built the whole set around desert synergies.
I feel like a one off would be a waste.
But hey it’s your cool set.

The trailer and bolas card makes it look like he wins. Can’t wait to see how he loses.
I would go heavier on the token theme.

If that’s really what you want, I suggest Teferi mage of Zalfir.
I have found that the sweet spot is between 20-30 walkers personally. I am at 23 plus clever impersonated in my list.
