The End of an Era

I began playing MTGO about 2 years ago and almost immediately started noticing one very particular anomaly.

I know there have been extensive "tests", independent and otherwise, on MTGO's shuffler and I'm not here to dispute those findings. I'm not even here to argue those findings. Here is what I have noticed.

The majority of my MTGO play is in the limited format and so the majority of my data concerns 40 card, 16-18 land decks and not 60 card 23-25 land decks. While I didn't keep track of 100% of the games, I did create a spreadsheet and logged 173 games.

Whenever I am dealt an opening hand with 5 or more lands I keep it no matter how bad it might be just so I can observe the results of the game. 95% of these games result in me drawing land at a rate greater than 80% within the first 10-12 turns. The other 5% I'm drawing land greater than 50% of the time.

Running a 40 card, 17-land deck you should draw land at 42.5%. After your opening hand and 5 lands are missing you should then draw land at around 36% and I'm not seeing anywhere near these numbers when I play a 5-land opening hand.

Has anyone else noticed this in their game-play?
