What do you guys think about running mission briefing as a replacement for snapcaster in this list? It flips delver and the UU doesn't matter to us since we're mono U.

Snapcaster provides a body for clock, which is very good.

Also, while I really really like this deck, it's dead in modern (dunno why though)

New Goblin may be the sideboard card we were looking for vs tron. If we cannot finish off tron by land 6/7, they get back on their game and crush Pyro prison. But Goblin Ctratermaker can hit that Karn or Ugin that are looking to turn the tides. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/price/Guilds of Ravnica/Goblin Cratermaker#online

    looks pretty good.

I've moved away from 3 sarkhan down to 2 and up 1 avricious dragon for a total of 2. I'm still without koth since I'm running 5 non mountains maincheck. Since I have one less card against control post g1 I added 1 more boil to the SB. Devastating against UW control, where blood moon doesn't shine as much as against jeskai control

    Small 10 player tournament report:

    Round 1 against Grixis DS.
G1. My opponent goes first and plays faithless, I think I'm against hollow one so I play a chalice on 1. Turns out he's on grixis death shadow, so I play a blood moon the next turn and lock the game out.
G2 goes the same, I land a chandra and a sarkhan under a bridge and his 8/8 death shadow can't do anything.

Round 2 against mono G tron:
G1 I go first, land a rabblemaster turn 1 and a blood moon turn 3 and it's gg.
G2 I mull to 5 and fail to find pressure or blood moon and my chalice on one doesn't stop karn on turn 3.
G3, I ritual out a rabble , followed by blood moon, followed by Soccerous spyglass, he reveals a hand with 3 lands and 3 oblivion stones. I name O-stone and close the game.

    Round 3 against grixis control
G1 I don't rally know what to say, he scoops after a turn 1 chalice and turn 2 blood moon.
G2 I play chalice on 1, followed by rabble, then rabble, he doesn't draw removal and I win.

3-0 so I'm overall pretty happy, although I felt like some matches were won out of pure luck.
Sarkhan confirmed himself to be a great at filtering

I'll be playing against skred dragons tonight. Any advice on the MU?

What is the "combo" between sarkhan and avaricious dragon you are talking about?

well it's not an infinite combo. You can ritual out sarkhan on turn 1, then follow with a 4/4dragon on turn 2 and practically draw 3 cards every turn. Really shines on matchups where you need to play the control role and draw the right cards.

Congrats Wolf on the deck feature!
I'll be trying pyro prison tomorrow at a local event, running 2 boils and 2 avaricious dragons in place of cage and koth.
I feel like the sarkhan + a. Dragon combo is too strong not to include

Can you suspend rift bolt with a chalice on 1 since suspend is an ability?

Absolutely. The CMC remains what is printed on the card, not how much was paid to put it on the stack. Faitless Looting, for example, still gets countered by Chalice on 1 even if it's cast with flashback.

While playing at last GP side event I had a chalice on 2 while playing against hollow one. He played an ancient grudge, which got countered. Then he played it from the graveyard for the flashback cost. I told him that it was countered, and he called a judge. The lvl 2 judge explained that the cmc of a flashbacked card is the one showed on the flahback cost, so I should have had a chalice on 1 to counter it. That seemed very strange to me but you know, it's me against a judge so it was kinda pointless to argue

Local mountain slinging L1 here. That judge made the absolute wrong call. The cmc of a card is always its listed cmc. The only time that is different is when a card with an x in its cmc is on the stack then x will be x+other normal costs. Like a banefire for 3 will cost r+3 so its cmc will be 4

    that's what I thought.

Looks like we got a 5th place in Toronto with pyro prison. I like the 2 mainboard hazoret, I think I'll try them out since casting it always ended up winning me the game when I used to run 1 in the MB.

Speaking of pyro prison, I'm still testing out the 2 Sharkan/2 Avaricious dragons build. Took out 2 walking ballsita and 2 Chainwirler. it feels awesome to have them both out, since you'll be able to essentially draw 3 every turn. Avaricous dragon is awesome with bridge, the only downside is not being able to respond to a threat with abrade on you opponent's turn, but drawing 3 each turn is absolutely gorgeous

Tough luck, Skycrusade. With a little better luck you could've been 2-1 of not 3-0. Keep grindin!

About KCI, Sai, Master Thopterist is a thing that has been brought to my attention by Fluffy's stream. This is a problem. Post-board strategy discussion?

I'd like to go 3-0 by being skilled, not by having luck;)

I totally agree! But when you didn't bring Cages and your opponent Dredges up gold every time, you could use some luck lol.. 3 O.Stones? The god hand from Infect? Draw a Damping Matrix against Tron or an early Moon/Chalice vs Infect and you probably win those games right? No skill can save you if you don't draw the cards. Keep working on the skills, but you need a little luck to win any game of cards!

Yeah, I was particuallary unlucky. Thinking of their play it was kinda perfect, I'm also pretty sure I made some mistakes against tron

Ok, just came back from modern GP Turin side event. Playing Russ classic list, except for 4 abrade since tron reigns supreme in my country and also 2 boil over 2 grafdigger's cage cause I miss those. My 1st match was obviously Dredge.

    Game 1 vs dredge
Match 1 he starts off with insolent neonate, I play mountain, exile simian, rabble. He sacs the neonate on endstep, dredges 5 on draw and gets conflagrate, 2 amalgam and 2 bloodgasts. He makes a landdrop, passes. My turn he conflagrates my board away, dredges again and I fail to find a bridge.
Match 2, same as before, I exile his gy, but he finds all the right cards, conflagrates my chandra, breaks my bridge and proceeds to win, also no Anger of the gods in sight even though I drew half of my deck.
    0-2

    Game 2 infect
Match 1 he starts with hierarch, I cast chalice on 1. Next turn he plays Viridan corrupter, breaking my chalice and passes. I get a bridge down l, he plays another corrupter and pumps him. I'm out of answers and lose.
Match 2, I lead with chalice on 1, then get down 2 bridges, a chandra and a chalice on 3. On to next match
Match 3 he wins on turn 3 by pumping his nexus, I try to abrade it but he plays blossoming defence, then try to abrade it next turn and he plays another blossoming and beats me. Really nice Danish guy anyway, we chatted alot after the match.
    1-2

    Game 3 tron
Match 1 he starts, I try to blood moon ok turn 2, turn 3 he plays oblivion stone, turn 4 I fail to draw pressure, he breaks everything on turn 5, then casts a wurmcoil followed by next turn ulamog.
Match 2 I win with chalice on 1, blood moon, chandra and damping matrix. He kept trying to cast Stirrings and I had to point at my chalice every 30 seconds.
Match 3 he topdecks oblivion stone three times, wiping away my board twice while casting karn and ugin
    1-2

So overall I went 0-3. I feel pretty bad but I'll keep on improving. Walking ballista proved itself to be an all-star in the deck. And I just love casting chalices and pointing at them when players try to cast spells.

Going to GP Turin tomorrow for the Modern Event.

I made some changes to my list, taking out 2 koth of the hammer in favour of 2 walking ballista.

I'm also thinking of switching my 2x SB Boils for 2x Tormod's crypt. Will test a bit today and then decide

I've been testing Sharkan for a few days. I came to the conclusion that it's either good with dragons OR there is a chance to use it for filtering, which is very good since you basically reroll your draw, and, using Pia And kiran, you can sit behind a bridge, assemble an army of dragons and then sac the bridge and attack (happened to me just one but it was pretty good):

Anyway, I'll nee to test it some more, cince on paper I'm on a classic list and can't find spots for him. I'd probably go +2 sharkan +2 Avaricious dragon -2 Walking ballista, -2 Chainwhirler, although losing ballista would hurt alot,

For card filtering we also have KARN, which costs one more but also makes token to sac to pia and kiran (Although I like sharkan more).
I would LOVE to use Jaya, but it costs to much
