Does this technically untap twice during your turn in 2HG even though you can't use it for mana during the untap step? I know you take your phases and steps at the same time but are their two untap steps?

I consider this a better Grip of Phyresis. I guess it doesn't hit protection and hexproof creatures, but you could steal more from your opponent.
What if you have no creatures and all they have is a Batterskull on a Germ token and a True-Name Nemesis with your name on it? You're stuck putting the Batterskull on their TNN or just plain not casting Fumble. At least you can fully claim their Batterskull with Grip of Phyresis.
Yes, thank you for finding the most niche, corner-case situation. Kinda like how Shock is better than Lightning Bolt when you're getting Mindslavered and you've got nothing but 3 toughness creatures in play.

I mean, you could've just pointed out that many popular equips give hexproof or shroud, so targeting the equipment is more reliable than targeting the creature, but, no, it's fine; your example's way better. Wink

It's not that corner case when both Batterskull and True-Name Nemesis are commonly played in Legacy--often in the same deck. I could replace TNN with Stoneforge Mystic, but TNN is funnier because it has protection from YOU but is still a valid creature to have your equipment forcibly attached to.

Batterskull being able to bounce itself for 3 mana is the bigger problem, but I've seen Grip of Phyresis several times in Legacy sideboards.

While this will attach the Betterskull I'm pretty sure it would then immediately fall off when state based actions are checked, since this gives you control over the Batterskull and True-name can't be equipped by things you control. Not that shis interaction is the most important factor in rating this card.

But yeah seams more of a card for RDH, casual and possibly cube (and I'm not an expert on legacy). I do also like the corner case of bouncing one of your opponents creatures with a pacifism, or similar aura, to move it to a new more powerful creature that they just played.
