My sibling recently purchased a Card Kingdom Battle Deck, Dragon Horde to be specific, to learn Magic with. The strategy of the deck is to ramp into big flyers. They want to start playing with my friends and I, but a $10 deck isn't up to the power level that we play with. Our decks aren't crazy powerful, (mostly around the $20-$35 range) but they are a heck of a lot better than this current deck. I'm looking for some budget upgrades to the deck that can boost the power level and increase the consistency.
My sister wanted to get into Magic and play with my usual playgroup. Our decks are pretty good, (being semi-budget ourselves) and we're looking for a deck that can compete but doesn't cost much. I found a $10 budget goblins aggro deck from Strictly Better Mtg on YouTube. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFhCgaLzAr0&t=792s) This deck looks decent, especially for the price, but was designed for standard. Since we play kitchen table, I wanted to know if there are any cards out there that are better alternatives to some of the in-standard cards in the deck. I changed it up slightly from the original, here's the decklist:
I built this deck that focuses on token generation. It has Trostani, Selesnya's Voice and Impervious Greatwurm as the main power cards. An issue it has is that it's pretty weak early game, and it probably doesn't have enough removal. I'm looking for suggestions about what removal to put in and what to remove to make room for it, along with any improvements in general. Thanks!
First question (high power) or second question (low life). I was saying that Quietus Spike doesn't change the creature's power, but it does lower the opponent's life total very quickly. That was an important distinction because there are cards that care about the actual power level, and I didn't have enough details about the deck to know what you were looking for at the time. It's also the reason I listed higher mana cards - they pump the creature's power more than any 1cmc or 2cmc equipment, but they definitely take longer to come out.
If it's the second, Quietus Spike is awesome - even on a 1/1 unblockable, the first hit drops them from 20 to 9. After three swings, they're at 1 life.
