I haven't tested it myself but I could see it ruining some fair decks that rely on attacking with creatures to win. Maybe worth testing in a UB/Grixis/BUG control deck, or in a board. My concern with main decking it is that against so many decks it does nothing. Tapping out on turn 3 vs. Twin, Pod, Tron, etc. to do something that doesn't impact them scares me.
I'm not really against overpriced singles at the LGS level.
If you are willing to pay the price, you get a few bonuses that aren't really factored into online prices.
1.) "Instantaneous shipping." You show up for a tournament, and realize you left your Steam Vents at home. Sadly, nobody has them to loan you. Your favorite online retailer can't save you here, you need them RIGHT NOW. The store has them in stock, and you can play.
2.) You are paying for a store, and all the benefits that provides. You might pay $1 for a Doom Blade you could get for 25 cents online, but you have a place to play Magic, meet people, practice, and have tournaments. It's easy to take an LGS for granted, but they shut down so frequently that you really should enjoy them while they last. If that means paying an extra $5 on Magic cards every few weeks/months, I'd say its worth it.
Also worth mentioning, if you don't want to pay that price, just order online.
And @OP, if you are curious about the price of a card before they tell you if they have it in stock, try asking them a simple question, like "How much are you selling Doom Blades for?" It just might work.
Being that you are red, Bolt is pretty top notch. While it might nail every Angel every printed, it goes a long way. If you expect to see that Angel deck, Combust is worth looking at for the board. Black also gives you tons of options, in Go For The Throat, Diabolic Edict, and others.
I've seen Scepter Chant in the past year (once). The comco itself can be good, but it's far from as good as it on e was. You need both pieces, which doesn't always happen.
There's abrupt decay to worry about, or it can get countered. Also, vs. Sneak Show, thay can just counter the Chant when you Scepter it. Vs tempo decks, they can often slide in a creature before you get an activation, or just Force/Daze/Pierce the Chant.
It's fun, but its just not as game-ending as it once was. I feel like Counterbalance/Miracles kind of took over the space where a Scepter deck wiuld be, and that deck is solid, while each piece (cb and top) have solid uses even when you don't have them together.
For the record, if a Scepter deck does emerge, I'd be all about playing and tuning it, as I really like Scepter.
3-4 Jittes is not a bad way to beat burn when you intend on attacking with dudes. Once you get counters you are in a good place vs. burn. You can threaten to gain life, or pump the guy to make it unkillae.
I've played legacy off and on since Shards block, and one thing that has been confusing me lately is that there doesn't seem to be any decks with both Delver of Secrets AND Dark Confidant.
I realize that there is no inherent synergy between the cards, but both cards often appear in very aggressive decks that want to attack their opponent to death.
There are also many frequently played legacy cards that appear along side both Delver and Bob, which just adds to my confusion.
Is there any big reason that these aren't played together, other than "they haven't top 8d an SCG open together"?
Needs to be from battlefield, discard/entomb does not work sadly. Even so, this card could be good. Especially with mana-free removal, ala Liliana of the Veil, Garruk Relentless, Royal Assassin type stuff.
Your comment about aggro and Tarmogoyfs suprises me. On paper, it seems like this deck should have a reasonable enough time with loads of creatures, given the Pox, Lilianas, Bolts, and Jabs. Even though Flame Jab itself is weak against Goyf itself, it allows your edict effects to get them by clearing out Hierarchs and Deathrites before hand.
I'm not doubting your results, I'm just a bit surprised.
I'll be taking a similar deck to Portland, and I'm thinking I may toss a few Abrupt Decays or Go for the Throats in the main. While these two spells can be poor against affinity, the red removal (Flame Jab in particular) really smashes them.
Does anyone know of any good sites/articles with tipsa on such? There are usually 7-10 people at my LGS playing legacy and 90% of the time it's the same decks.
Blue Zoo.

BG control
those are the decks typically seen. Thoughts on what deck you would choose? Or how would you make a deck resilient to those and still wins?
Well, I am biased towards certain decks, but IMO you'd run BUG control. Abrupt decay x4 murders lots of things in this meta. A crucial elf, a cranial plating, a tarmogoyf, aether vial, counter balance, many of the cards in this meta eat **** to decay.
Counterspell is a murderer against Show n tell that has a game plan of sacrificing card advantage for a fast emrakul, (as does liliana and innocent blood).
Life from the Loam recovers Cards vs critical spells that had to be forced, getting back wasteland or mishra's, and works well with bstorm/jacestorm dredging.
Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.
I agree that Negator is a big risky to run right now. Lightning Bolt, Snapcaster, Vendillion Clique, and just plain creatures you can't kill will all be bad news.
Another sweet black budget spell is Diabolic Edict. Better against Reanimator, Emrakul decks, and can kill Nimble Mongoose.
Otherwise, the deck looks pretty sweet. Duress and Hymn are in really good positions right now in Legacy, and if you ever get to connect on turn 2 with a Hippie, you're in good shape.
Hey, I've been to BDG. Ownerseems nice and they were either just beginning to do MtG or they just opened up shop. I've been wanting to give them a shot, but I don't mess with Standard. Maybe if we start getting more and more people into Legacy, we could bring it into the light?
The owner is a nice guy, but he really neglects Magic. We've all talked to him to try to get more Magic stuff on the calendar, and more professionally run singles case, but he usually just laughs at us while mysteriously losing FNM cards and release promos. We also just lost our head judge to Eudemonia, and he was kind of the only person the owner listened to as far as Magic stuff went.
So, I doubt Legacy will ever start being played there tournament wise. There are a handful of people that play though, and you can count on getting a few games in during FNM or a weekend Magic event.
Unfortunately, this is the only legacy tournament action that I know of around here.
Some people at my local shop (Black Diamond Games in Concord) have started acquiring legacy cards and started bringing decks, but it's nothing serious. Usually I might squeeze in a couple of games between rounds of FNM, or if our rounds finish early at SCGIQs, but that's it.
There's always Cockatrice, or the random SCG Opens that come around about once a year or so...
There's legacy in Dublin, CA on Wednesday nights now. $5 entry, 10 proxies. It's just starting out, and needs help. I went this past week and there were 7, so 3 rounds.
It's a shame that San Jose legacy died, but that means there's some room for Dublin to grow. A 3 round tourney isn't the best, but it IS something, which the bay lacks right now.
If you know the old Who's on 1st location, it's at the same place. Who's on died, and turned into this store; Galaxy Games. Starts at 7 or 7:30 on Wednesday night.

10 proxies, $5 to play, and store credit for prizes.
Strong alternative Dark Ritual friendly creatures include Vampire Nighthawk (yes, seriously), Abyssal Persecutor (3-4 dollars), or Geralf's Messenger (just because he's a zombie doesn't mean you need to go zombies).
