I tend to draft more than anything else these days.

And I've changed my mind on The Great Henge. It's much better than good. If you're playing large creatures that come into play early on, I'd say this thing is an absolute staple. I'm looking forward to trying it in constructed with other staples like Steve etc.

It is a 4-drop roughly 80% of the time. 4 out of 5 times you cast this. I'm considering it a 4-drop "most" games.

This is likely where we differ. BUG are the 3 good multiplayer colors and have the highest representation at our tables.

    Pretty much this.
I suggested this card due to me usually playing larger (think 4-6 players) FFA's. If it's different for you Morphling, fair enough. I wuold say the ratio% of 2 to 4-drop would favour 2-drop in my group.

    To add one more to the list of interest;
I've been quite happy drafting Midnight Clock. It's card draw pay-off is slow of course, but I like it for the ramp too. And I'm sure there's plenty of ways Simic can abuse this thing outside of Standard, so I'll be picking up a set of these for sure.

Fires of Invention Control is busted.

Yep. I came back to post about that one. It's probably best in a planeswalker-heavy deck I feel.
Think I'll pick up a set of these

On further inspection, Murderous Rider is amaze-balls.
A lot of Knights in this set I like - Tribal knights gettin a big shake-up.

Dance of the Manse sounds idiotic, but the card has legs. This could be very very good in the right build.

With respect to Realm-Cloaked Giant I'd advise ignoring the "non-Giant" line of text.

The set itself is interesting. Going by my grades it's mostly C+s, not many Bs or As, but there's a ton of C/C+ cards that will be fun to play with/against and very few cards like Narset, Parter of Veils and Smothering Tithe that trivialize what your adversaries are playing.

    Agreed.

Adventure cards, given you are mostly going to get both sides out of the card, look like a lot of fun.

Ok, so my view is that this set is a little under powered so far. Lots of love for tribal knights (yay)
I haven't had time to digest all of it yet, mainly considering what might fit into my current decks so far.

Oakhame Adversary looks very sweet for multiplayer.
Realm-Cloaked Giant looks the goods for some sort of giant-based control deck.
Knights' Charge will be delicious in my wifes' Knight deck running Knight Exemplar.
Once upon a Time into another 2-cmc spell (think Growth Spiral etc.) looks like a pretty good Turn 2 play, and it's instant speed!
Rankle, Master of Pranks - flexibility is usually good.
The Great Henge looks very good.
Deathless Knight another not-terrible cockroach that gets around Grafdigger's Cage
    Gilded Goose is ok

    Gluttonous Troll etc.
Food tokens are artifacts, so anything that cares artifacts to sacrifice, metalcraft, affinity etc. might find food tokens useful, but I'm thinking we probably already have better options.

All good idea's, I'll be doing some tweaking for sure.
Prophet was in this deck some time ago, along with Deadeye, and it worked well enough. I might end up going back to this.
Elemental Bond looks like a good inclusion too.

    Thanks

Hopefully someone was keeping him in check if he tried to use cards like Arc Mage, Deepglow Skate, or Inferno Titan to steal permanents using Dack Fayden's emblem since that only works with casted spells. Wink

Bwa ha ha ha - not one of us spotted that! Yeah I've never seen Dack in the wild before, funnily enough, and everyone else was cool with how everything was going, so I just assumed it was all G. LOL

What was he using to target, out of curiosity?

He had some creatures that targeted multiple opponents' stuff, think Arc Mage, Deepglow Skate, Inferno Titan and the like, plus the regular burn spells like Forked Bolt, Arc Lightning, Flames of the Firebrand etc. Nothing too adventurous. He had lots of proliferate effects, which was what stood out. He also played one of my fave cards, Spitting Image.

You might consider running a Chord of Calling package with 1-of silver bullets....

Great idea. I have these in another deck, but they would go great in here.

    Is it fast enough?

    No, it's not.
In most of my games I play, there's sweepers often enough, but the deck just doesn't do enough, or do it fast enough.
Honestly, I think the deck needs some better perms to really make the most of what it might do, think Courser of Kruphix etc. But then, that's a whole different deck approach really. The flash creatures are cute, and I wanna see a deck made from them work, but they just don't do enough in this current form.

Dack Fayden is a card I passed off as too cute when it first came out.
And... well lately I've changed my mind, c/o some random at the local card shop using it to do some very degenerate things in an EDH game.
He was using proliferate to activate its' -6 the turn after it entered play. From that point on, the deck was unstoppable given it's sheer card-advantage engine.

    So;
    What's your opinion of it?
How do you get the best use out of it?

    Hi everyone,

A while back Stunt Double grabbed my attention.
Core 2020 has given us a few more that work in this archetype, in Brineborn Cutthroat & Nightpack Ambusher.

I wanna build a deck that only plays cards in my opponents' turns.

Brineborn Cutthroat isn't good enough, Managorger Hydra makes this card look cute, however Nightpack Ambusher is 7-power for 4-cmc, so whilst it's not a strong choice, I'm gonna test it out.
I'm looking at Bant colours so far, but if you think otherwise, please tell me which cards you would play with.

Crystal Shard for spamming Squire & Counter. I used to use Deadeye Navigator for this purpose, but it doesn't last a turn in my group.

    Thoughts? Improvements?

I'm looking forward to playing with Colossus Hammer.

Yeah I have a deck with a similar aim, to cheat equipement into play and attach them cheaply, mine is RW.
I run 4 each of Kazuul's Toll Collector, Puresteel Paladin & Stoneforge Mystic with a small number of Sigarda's Aid, Brass Squire & Open the Armory.
I run the artifact lands in Ancient Den & Great Furnace with Boros Signet to help achieve metalcraft for PP.
Otherwise, my only other creatures are Squadron Hawk.

I tried running Sram, Senior Edificer, but unless you're running a lot of 0 to 1-cmc equipment, I found this guy less useful than PP.
I used to run Sunforger in this deck, but I would get hated out by the table for some reason, even though the deck was a little slow.

Once my Colossus Hammer arrive, I'm thinking 8-9 equipment total would do it, stuff like Argentum Armor, Heartseeker, Batterskull and a single Worldslayer (yeah I know...), together with the normal *draw a card* options and some removal.

I just want to point out, because this deck can drop massive equipment, and equip them quite early, I've found Worldslayer to be a crazy option that makes the game more fun, considering this is a fairly linear deck design. I reckon Magnetic Theft has game with this card.;)

My playgroup is usually with 3 other guys and the deck has a strong Performance so the Consensus of the guys was that the deck hast to be eliminated at first. My playgroup hast mideocre decks that tend to be more creature based but slow. Now i wonder how can i overcome this to not always play the role of the archenemy if we are playing free for all.

Ok, so I run a fairly typical mono-R goblin deck.
In my group, usually at least one deck is running sweepers, so aggro decks usually get punished badly if they can't grind it out.
    For that reason a typical core;
4 Goblin Matron (get Krenko), 4 Goblin Ringleader, 4 Mogg War Marshal, 4 Goblin Warchief.
I find that Ringleader here is VERY important in grinding it out against decks that just hate you out with removal, but it does require you to build the deck a certain way to get the best value from it. If you're getting opponents teaming up on you, Ringleader & Matron would be a 4-of every day of the week for me, and I'd consider upping your Krenko to 3. It's your win-con, you need to make it stick.

Outside of these, I run 2 Goblin Chieftain and a Siege-Gang COmmander, a small toolbox that I fetch up with Matron, think answers to perms like Goblin Cratermaker, and more of the ones I want to see every game regardless, with 3 Krenko, Mob Boss & 4 Impact Tremors (my only non-goblin)

For multiplayer, directing damage to only one player hasn't won me games. Impact Tremors is an excellent win-con if Krenko stays on the board for a few turns, but it looks like your new additions like Siege-Gang Lieutenant & Pashalik Mons would like Impact Tremors on the board too.

Well, it seems Core 2020 gave us another one, Battalion Foot Soldier, a functional reprint of Legion Conquistador.

Now, they're both soldiers, so Preeminent Captain, Daru Warchief, Ballyrush Banneret, Militia Bugler, Mentor of the Meek and friends work here.
I feel we have better soldiers to choose from, especially in Boros colours, however this is card advantage in colours that don't typically have many card draw options. Soldiers could easily use these in the mid-game into a lategame Finale of Glory.

  • posted a message on MTG Arena Events - What did you guys think?
Yeah the only one that really annoyed me was the first one.

Part I: Ravnica at War - Momir = Mana-screw. I hated this one A LOT. I may have ended up scooping to mana-screw for at least 20 games in a row here.
Part II: No Escape - Pauper. This one was fun, tho it took me a while to find a deck that was competitive.
Part III: Storm the Citadel - Singleton.
I actually found this one to be a lot of fun. I just played the most powerful Sultai stuff I could and killed it pretty quick.
Part IV: Commence the Endgame - Counters.
I played a RUG deck, mostly Gruul style Riot creatures with a blue splash and ended up sweeping it 10-0. I may have gotten lucky tho by the sound of it. I think playing Wrath's may have been the way to go.
Part V: Gideons Sacrifice - Ravnica = Play a GATES deck. It was easy. Dominated, even without Gates Ablaze.

Overall I liked the events. Some new challenge is always good.
