Similar by chance? Then this place would erupt with the convenience of the story and how it's not genuine.

By being straightforward and recruiting direct descendants of the ships legacy, it feels more honest. And it makes total sense for Jhoira to do so, and for the overall story. Hundreds years later and who better to fill the new weatherlight than those of heroic blood? Plus the newcomers have the right amount of space and opportunity to play supporting roles. Tiana in particular is interesting. Why would Raff know about her?...

Does it? I don't especially see why Jhoira would go off to recruit descendants of the Second Weatherlight Crew. I mean Karn sure but Jhoira, I don't especially remember any interaction between her and the likes of Captain Sisay and Gerrard Capahsen. So it comes off as fanservice and trying to recapture the magic purely for nostalgia, I don't see a story reason. Seems like she start with Teferi or Jodah, I certainly be looking to pick up an Archmage for a major mission. I am not opposed to getting the old band back together or what is close to it per-say but Jhoira doesn't really have much of connection to the Second and more Famous Weatherlight Crew outside of Karn who we know is showing up but is currently MIA.

Nope, what do we think about the new Capashen card...I think it have potential if it cost 1 mana less even and gave up a keyword.

It'd still be too cute as a two drop. Out of all the auras we play, Spirit Mantle is the only "core" aura that would benefit from the ability. Even if you consider flex auras that see some sporadic play, you then have Unflinching Courage in addition to Mantle; factor in the inconsistency, legendary typing, & fact that it's a lightning rod and we're left with a lot of risk for little reward. I honestly don't think it'd be worth playing even if it were a one drop; ideally, we want to go T1 Bogle, T2 aura, T3 Daybreak Coronet. Unfortunately, Danitha doesn't help us get there any quicker and her ability just relies on too many other factors while simply not being that great in the first place.

Open the Armory is a solid example of a card that would've been amazing for us had it only cost 1 less. I'm still salty about that one.

@FoodChain Appreciate the love, dude. Best of luck to your pops; he'd have my vote if I was in that district and not on the other side of the country lol. If he hasn't already, his campaign should reach out to Justice Democrats; they currently support 52 progressives on the "Bernie ballot" and have had some great successes taking corporate dems/gop seats without accepting any form of PAC contributions.

That is a good point I suppose what it needs more quite frankly is Uril's ability of +2/+2 instead of cost reduction as you are right the curve is already super low.

They have plenty time to merge the stories...Jace is like 6 months or so out at this point.

Well that be rich and hypocritical for Jodah...blames Oldwalkers for everything...Demon Lord conquering the plane, all the Oldwalkers gone and he is sitting on the bench twiddling his thumbs while the normals he claims to care about are put to the sword.

Amusing how Azor and Ugin came up with a gigantic slab to contain Azor's spark while Jhoira appears to have fit Teferi's into a little necklace.

Oldwalker Arrogance? Kinda like Voldemort, the optimal method of hiding his Horcruxes would be to pick a random object put a bunch of protection spells on it then drop it in the Ocean. Beyond that I assume the Golden Sun had more complicated properties then simply store a spark. It does massively enhance magical ability as well.

Well no. I mean we saw Jhoira raising the Weatherlight at the start of one but the timeline could be desynched. Plus at the end of Ixalan, Jace walks onto the Weatherlight and seeing as he is met Ajani before it seems weird he wouldn't detect his spark next to Gideon's when he was trying to land.

So we could have Jhoira try this mission and it go pretty wrong. Which makes sense I guess, I mean really when your best Mage is simply good at Illusion Spells well you cant be surprised if your mission goes south. Its super funny cause Undead at least DnD wise tend to be immune to most mind altering spells.

I agree this seems kinda rushed and I am going to need more about the Weatherlight Resparking as far as explanation. Also Jhoira didn't mention Karn so I assume he will pop up unexpected in this story.

I'm just curious, did that story have any value to anyone who is not familiar with the old stories? Unless you were playing the game and reading the novels back in the Weatherlight era that story was a whole bunch of nothing. What was so special about Gerard and Sisay that she needed their descendents. (not being sarcastic and I'm sure there's probably an answer.)

Well Urza did make the Legacy Project to create the best humans possible in Benalia as in a Super Solider Project.

Still this ties into my later point what is Jhoira's mission here? I mean I guess defeat the Cabal but she didn't really explain it. I mean I don't think it should be hard to convince the Capashen to join if the plan is to end the Belzenlok threat via decapitation strike. I am putting together a team that will use the Weatherlight to drop in unexpected and take out Belzenlok seems like it would sell better then slowing losing a war of attrition. Furthermore, Ajani is the one she is waiting for? No offense, to Ajani but that doesn't really seem good enough as your Ace. I mean Jhoira works at Tolaria and knows two Archmages and the best she can do for a spellcaster is some random Capashen? How bad is the relationship with Teferi and Jodah here? She cant get the Dean of Iteration or the Master Wizard either?

Cause I have to agree with smashkicker, Jodah or Teferi alone would seem worth more then this entire crew cause the only useful ones to me seem to be Jhoira, Tiana and Ajani.

First, Samut is not a guy.

There is a difference between losing your family manor and an entire subcontinent being gone in a void, the last known city on your plane being nuked forcing you to wander a zombie infested wasteland, or your entire plane being corrupted with most of the population genocided. Basically Nissa, Sorin and Liliana have a reasonable chance of putting things back together. Does anyone here really think Koth has a snowballs chance to restore Mirrodin? Its not really comparable at all the three I mentioned having nothing to work with at all. Now I am not saying it will be easy for Nissa, Sorin, or Liliana but its there is order of magnitudes of difference for them as compared to Teferi, Koth or Samut.

Sarkhan hardly counts, he got what he wanted in that story. He restored Dragons. Saved Ugin.

I am not even sure Jace remembered where his home was with his frequent bouts of memory loss. He does now though so I assume will go back eventually.

Its a story, the writers decide what happens and your real world anecdotes don't especially matter provided you believe free will exists. Story characters though don't have free will. And I posit that friend zoning and making your only major Black Character a quitter, is suspect. As I said before one is whatever, both though that I have a problem with. Especially when the writer says I am big fan. I can see Wells is big fan of Jhoira so far, I am not seeing much to suggest she is a big fan of Teferi and wasn't just giving the company line. My point is I disagree with the story choices. I don't care about normal family lives with normal characters in fantasy stories. I am not watching a sitcom here.

As for Gay characters, best of luck on that front. I don't forsee it coming down the pipeline anytime soon. But given the Nissa and Chandra stuff I expect if they do you will see a Bi or Lesbian Female Character before you see a Gay Dude. I too would like to see an Abzan Walker though...this Vivian seems like she could fill that roll and I did like that clan the most in Khans of Tarkir.

As for Koth, only Venser died in the storyline. Elspeth is probably not permanently dead. But yes the didn't kill the black guy first in horror story, seven years ago thus one cant complain about anything else they do with their Black Characters, you are correct. They do seem to like devastating the homelands of these black heroes come from though...Zhalfir Lost To The Void, Mirrodin Compleated into New Phyrexia, and Amonkhet already on the brink then the Gods corrupted by Bolas who makes a zombie factory before nuking it into the ground with the populace and the last God forced to wander the wasteland. Samut and Koth should share notes.

I meant Vraska in a pool of her own blood not Jace Dead...no Jace won't die. Vraska though especially considering stabbing Bolas in the back doesn't tend to be good for ones health or their families.

Zhalfir is lost in the void...I consider that a problem. And so does he considering he is depressed about it judging by the flavor text.
I mean sheesh Urza was a douche sure but at least he had drive he pushed onward for centuries or millennium. Teferi tapped out in under 60. I think I have made it clear I don't particularly care about him or care for the story decision of him having a family with some character we never heard of. Sounds like a conciliation prize. He lost his spark, lost his country, lost the girl...but I suppose to be happy with a normal family life in a fantasy story with a character I never met before, yeah no thanks.

I never speculated Nissa was dying, I said she was warming the bench based off Maro's Tumblr Page.
Jaya based on her articles of clothing spread across Chandra, Teferi and Karn in art plus Old Mentors in Fantasy tending to not have longevity.
I admit Vraska is pure speculation though.

Are Humans likely to ever fall off without a serious disruption crashing meta diversity? I mean WOTC seems to love trying to make tribal work which will always help Humans more then any other race cause Humans appear in pretty much every Set and always have among the most diverse effects. You can pretty much always expect to see a few 1-3 CMC useful Humans in every set, its certainly more likely for Humans to get some useful then pretty much any other deck outside of general all purpose artifacts. Additionally, Humans are unlikely to get banned cause the Deck makes at least one tribe viable something WOTC loves and cannot 20-0 you in a single round.

Oh I think we all expect to have Jace holding Vraska in a pool of blood at this point.
Cause, honestly the Gatewatch probably needs to higher personal stakes in the fight against Bolas.
Bolas has at best done indirect damage to the Gatewatch, another reason why Jaya is not long for this world.
And the one he did the most to in Nissa (via Maro) seems to be warming the bench for awhile.

Which reminds where is Ajani? Still finding allies in the Multiverse or did Bolas and Belzenlok grab him on landing in Dominaria.
It also felt weird to me for the plan to be to rally on Dominaria to fight Bolas considering the Gatewatch member with the most experience with Dominaria is Liliana Vess who was never the most reliable member. While also being the home plane of Nicol Bolas, I suppose they might not know that but Venser -> Elspeth -> Ajani should suggest they do. Tamiyo should know that as well considering her scrollkeeping and probably should have mentioned it.

I kinda understand the point of AUTOMNTWILIGHT, even though i think he's overreacting.
I don't care of Tefeiri being rejected by Jhoira (actually i like "losers" protagonists, and even more those who don't - know when to - give up).

But him becoming a family guy can eventually put him in the case of a magical negro :
    http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MagicalNegro
, which sound a lot less interesting than the adventurous celibate guy we knew and followed.

At worst, this kind of treatment give the impression of the authors willing to put an unnecessary fight for social justice on top of that.
But maybe i'm too pessimist and he will be well-written in this story, plenty of years have passed after all and it's not that surprising he settled down.

I just notice a trend where these series to seem to be afraid of having young black guys around who might challenge the white guys with the girls on these teams. So we get comic relief or we get older dudes who coincidentally always seem to have daughters or the guys are bundle off with some minor character instead of a main girl they were actually interested in. Hence the aformentioned Mortal Kombat example of Jax, we started at. They never going to write Jace pining after some girl across multiple stories and then have him stuffed into the friend zone that is for sure. In fact, Jace is done with Vess and wants to get it on with Vraska but they still got Vess feeling sad and pining for Jace.

So take that add to fact that Teferi is quitter who can't motivate or fix any of his problems without Jhoira showing up and I remain under impressed as we continue to head into this story.

I wouldn't especially worry about it. If SFM gets unbanned I am sure WOTC will print it if only to prop up sales of another weak masters set.

I think SFM has a decent odds White needs help while JTMS and BBE didn't destroy modern diversity which should make WOTC more likely to test the viability of unbans. BBE did inflict critical damage to Abzan. Funny enough SFM might help swing the pendulum back the other way or give Naya another run at the top.

White getting a good two drop and a good removal spell and maybe it won't be Black's personal whipping boy.
