Idk even about comparing him with Grislebrand because that card is kinda silly itself in a different way, but like... Tombstalker? Way more powerful. That 4/5 for 2BB guy from the latest Inistrad block, too, is way more playable. There were other really strong ones. It's obvious they didn't want this guy to dominate formats, and I get the greed appeal his ability has for a certain demographic and all that... But it's kinda meh and looks like it's supposed to sell itself on the coolness factor alone, and it's not really all that cool, either.

He runs a necromancy death cult? You think his abilities would have something to do with that. I don't know pay 2B, Sacrifice A Creature and your opponent takes damage equal to the creatures power and you gain life equal to its toughness or something. I expect a bit more from an Elder Demon, but he is weak and not even especially flavorful, he just has a worse Griselbrand Ability, Plus Griselbrand recovers any life lost paying for his ability via lifelink. I mean sheesh at bear minimum he should be an 8/8.

So he was hiding scared while the Oldwalkers were dominate sounds about right...assuming this is a real event of note it has to fit in what Post Elder Dragon War and Pre Thran? Post Thran?

Its job is to stuff Tron and Storm and any other Big Mana deck not running Utopia Sprawl.
I think Tron survives just fine, Storm on the other hand guess they will be packing some Abrade.
But it is impossible to combo through so there is that at least.

friendly reminder: as excited as we are, we are not supposed to discuss Dominaria cards until the whole set has been spoiled. Wink

Yes he should be stronger then Griselbrand, I get not stapling an insane ability to Belzenlok. But they didn't even give him more Power and Toughness.
But much like the Weatherlight compared to say Heart of Kiran, we seem to be falling short cause WOTC is afraid to push it, in the one set they should. I mean it should at least have the remove loyalty counter to crew mechanic.

So Geek and Sundry got an exclusive trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyUgWCKDLYg

Nice...still not a fan of random daughter though. And does imply that Resparked Teferi can cancel the normal aging process.

And again I am really wondering wtf Jodah is doing. Belzenlok wasn't relevant in the past unless they retcon him in so he shouldn't be all that powerful. Thus,I am still confused why the supposed Archmage Eternal who was always dragging Oldwalkers for incompetence and ignoring the little guys decided to do absolutely nothing with all the relevant Oldwalkers off the stage (death, off plane or desparked) while Belzenlok is out collecting dangerous artifacts and conquering the plane. It was Jodah's time to shine and he is going to need one heck of an excuse not to look like the plane's greatest hypocrite. He should be called the Avatar...cause this is one heck of a disappearing act.

I am just happy White is getting some card draw options.

Well given how Belzenlok loves looting history, I wouldn't be surprised if he made his own Predator.

I don't know what the beef is with Radha. We've never seen a female Keldon Warlord before. Latulla wasn't one. Sure, she's part elf, part Keldon, but if her life is battle, against big Keldon men no doubt, do you think she'd remain small, lithe Radha from Time Spiral? It's just unrealistic to expect her to still be wearing a ridiculous crop-top with exposed midriff with little muscle mass and be able to defeat and control Keldons.

Oh c'mon let's not talk about getting realistic, i have tons of examples of skinny things destroying muscular brutes on steroid in MTG, let alone the examples of other ridiculous or cumbersome outfits.

Didn't Gideon block a strike from Ulamog? Seems to suggest muscles alone aren't what is pumping up power levels in this universe. Unless someone wants to argue someone of Gideon's size has any chance doing that without magical enhancement.

First, No one is complaining about her not wearing a metal crop top anymore. That is obviously absurd. And not related at all.
Second, again she is an half elf? Technically, she is more Elf then she is Keldon. Ergo how many roided up male elfs have we seen?
Third, physical strength is only part of the equation in MtG Universe considering you know magic exists. She is more ripped then Koth now.

I suppose you think Elsepth should have been the same right? How is she killing all those monsters without being Roided up like new Radha?

Well I think WOTC should be looking at helping out White First (needs help everywhere can start with some removal and two drop slots), Blue Second(better cantrips) thus helping these two should boost control ....Green and Black seem strong and fine. And Red? I am curious to see how the massive errata changes on what targets what impacts Red before looking at anything about this color.

That said I still think Controls main problem is too many decks you have to worry about in the format. I mean sheesh even if you just pick top 3-5 deck primers in each section of the Modern Section. You can see how much of challenge that poses to Control without an easy way to break parity and get unfair ala Miracles.

Really I see him first to die as cannon fodder. Especially since they really wanted his sister.

But yeah that is my point Latulla looks strong and the old Radha does as well...they don't look like they pumped Steroids. No one is asking for Radha to be as thin and soft looking as Nissa here.

That's why i like him. He has the odds against him, still he's willing to prove himself as a worthy heir to the name Capashen. He might be canon fodder, he might pull a Gerrard and sacrifice himself for his people or he might pull trough and impress his crewmates. I dunno, but i like the uncertainy of his character because of his apparant "flaws".

Radha looks like Karn's butch sister

Well I say he is cannon fodder cause its motivation for his sister, and we know four more powerful mages are going to show up in this story. Teferi, Jodah, Jaya and his biggest problem, Jace Beleren. Although Teferi and Jodah should also be able to cast illusions just fine. Plus considering how much Belzenlok loves making history or claiming credit for. I am sure he want to add Slayer of Capashen to his resume.

As I said earlier I thought Radha was Zurgo Helmsmasher (Khans Version) Sister. And I say the changes to her go a bit beyond artistic liberty then again WOTC struggles with Gideon maintaining any consistent coloration.

So the consensus is what Humans are King and anything that runs RG is on the rise? I don't foresee Humans dropping off anytime soon and if it does it will probably be because of decks abusing Ensnaring Bridge and if that occurs you better believe Ensnaring Bridge is finding itself warming the banlist.
