Reddit thread on Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi suggested combining it with an Inkmoth Nexus and I REALLY want to try that out, fetching a singleton Nexus off Primetime. Would be hard to make the space for an instant tho.

I've not been following the story but I presume this final showdown with Bolas is indeed the End Raze. With Ravnica torn by the ruins of war, it's certainly getting razed. I'm interested to see what kind of Ravnica emerges from the ashes, and whether it will retain the guild identities that we've come to know and love.

Ann-Crop Rotator is an amazing card...and one I think they could actually print...I wish you were at WOTC!

Makes me feel good man, thanks for the compliment. I'm going to be dying with anticipation by the time MH Previews come out. There's so much potential.

    New Question...

What can they print that would help push the Pact deck to Tier-1? Or any Devotion deck for that matter...

In honesty, it’s really kinda already there (with the correct Pact targets and board I honestly believe it can win a Modern Tournament)...but is there anything in particular you have said, “man...if they just print X...”...like I always say “I was they would m print a GG Elvish Visionary..”

Obviously we ALL are hoping for Wild Growth in Modern Horizons...but what else could they print to help us?

Wild Growth is probably the most likely contender to be reprinted, but there are a slew of other options that would greatly benefit us.
Natural Order immediately comes to mind, being a cheap way of just getting what we need directly on the battlefield (Progenitus builds?).

As for new card ideas, maybe a new devotion-helping Crop Rotation to help us find Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx faster. Something like:

    Ahn-Crop Rotator GG
    Creature - Elf Druid
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, you may sacrifice a land. If you do, search your library for a land card and put it into play tapped.
    1/1

We are basically looking for ways to: 1) Increase devotion while still getting value 2) Find our payoff cards more reliably to cast them as soon as possible.

How competitive would we say this deck is? I went 0-2 bye went home last night. I know it is a small sample size but what are people having success with right now if anything?

Overall I felt a turn short in most of my games. I did keep some sketchy hands. And one of my matchups was combo which I can’t imagine is good ever.

Edit: I am not playing paradoxical outcome as I had mentioned I might. Just a standard build with rubric thar.

I've been on the eternal-command list for the last couple months and I wouldn't consider it competitive right now. It's about a turn too slow and early disruption can really set it back. I chose this version because I expected more grindy matchups like Jund (and because resolving Primal Command against burn is always a winner), but the meta hasn't shifted that way. I think the faster Pact Devotion lists are better positioned against a fast meta, but it's still a struggle. When I get some more money to dump into MtG, I'll pick up some Pacts and try it out.

Between Phoenix and Spirits, plus some random affinity fliers, Raking Canopy seems very good right now. Sadly I do not own any.

As for Green Control, land destruction isn't really my favorite play style, but Trinisphere does seem sweet.

The only questions I’ve had after the weekend of play is:

    1. Elvish Visionary ca. Coiling Oracle - I nearly always have the blue; so Oracle May be worth it. Started testing it today in place of Visionary.

    2. Do I need more than 1 copy of Eternal Witness - I don’t love it by itself; but it is good with Command. May just run one copy.

    1. If you almost always have blue, then it's worth testing. At 21 lands, the extra landdrop won't proc all that often, and rarely you'll blow up Nykthos, but if there's no other drawback, then it might be the better card.

    2. I've been running a G/r Eternal-Command list using 3 Eternal Witness for a few months now with poor results. Too often I draw it early and have nothing to return with it except a fetchland, which usually isn't great. I'm not often in a position where chaining E.Wit + Primal Command is a great play because I usually need to search for a game-ending threat, not keep their boardstate down. I think I will drop down to 2 copies. 1 might be correct.

    P.S.

I have been playing Hydroid Krasis for a bit...it’s surprisingly powerful. I may think this simply because my favorite two cards in green Devotion are Garruk Wildspeaker and Kimora, Master of the Depths...but the two of them and card draw is tough for many opponents to beat.

I am going to try out Time Warp too. As many on here know; my lists tend to run a lot of Walkers...and it is just a good fit with Garruk, Kiera, and friends Smile

I’ll let you know how it goes tonight.

Also...Two BIG announcements that could effect us:

    1. Do we think the new London Mulligan will be good for us? I certainly do (as getting a 1-drop in our opening hand is huge for us).

    2. Do we think the Modern product being announced this Wednesday will (a) have new cards for Modern not in standard and (b) if so...did they think about Devotion or big Mana when they developed the nee, higher power cards?

Exciting time to play Modern! The next two months are chock full of Modern and they just announced the next Mythic Championship is Modern!

Yea Hydroid Krasis is good for pretty much any deck that can cast it. I just don't have the money to shell out for it right now, so I'll just wait till after it drops out of standard to revisit going blue.

    1. London Mulligan: Probably better, but not specifically better for us than it is better for other decks. Might let us run a single BoP or Oath less than usual if we can more consistently get a t1 ramp.

    2. I'm hoping that the Modern announcement is for a reprint set that is not meant to be drafted, since that type of set created a ton of worthless reprints and skimped on reprints of cards that were actually used in modern. I'm expecting a Challenger Series type product of pre-built constructed-playable decks.

I do not believe they are printing new Modern-legal cards that are not standard-legal. I don't think this is a good idea, and it would artificially raise the price of these new cards because this type of non-set product usually have limited print runs. If they print new cards that end up being staples, it'll force people to buy these new cards, which I can totally see WotC doing. These new limited run staples will immediately need reprints and we'll exacerbate the reprint problem that we are trying to solve.

If they do make new cards, I doubt they'd have Devotion specifically in mind when designing new cards, but I can see something for Ramp strategies in general, since Primetime decks are fairly common, with a few different archetypes floating around.

Finally the primer's up! Good work Curdbros! I've one suggestion for the Support Card explanation section. You've got a slot listed for Leatherback Baloth, but no mention of Steel-Leaf Champion, which can be included in that same section and provides a similar role. Having the option to swing thru chump blockers if you don't have a Kessig online is valuable and worth a mention along with the Leatherback Baloth blurb.

It's a fun deck for sure, and has some pretty solid games to win as well as can win from some positions almost out of nowhere. That being said, it is not the most consistent in terms of speed and you can get run over, as well as the games where you don't draw amulet feel incredibly different. Also, with tron and storm always being around, we will fold to some of their hate as well, which usually just means that people have good sideboards against us even if we're not on their mind. But if you can get through the fact that it will be hard, you end up with a ton of games where you get to make meaningful decisions and linear people as well as make a lot of linear decisions and midrange people. I'm biased but would def. recommend.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought I had most of the pieces to build the deck but when I priced out what I'd still have to buy, I priced myself right back out of this deck for now. So this may have to be a future project when I've got more funds saved up. In the meantime I'll probably still lurk in the thread and keep up with the deck.

Hello folks. I'm coming over from the Green Devotion thread, looking for a more competitive deck (but still ramp strategy), since Devotion has not been panning out for me. How is Amulet positioned these days? Is it worth picking up Amulet Titan in the current meta? I run into all kinds of decks at my shop so its hard to guess what's gonna be good on any given week. Primeval Titan is one of my favorite cards in Modern and this seems like a deck to maximize Titan's capabilities. I understand it is hard to learn, but I'm not opposed to practicing the different lines of play if it's going to reward me in the long run.

Sounds like I maybe need to put the deck down till I can flesh out the manabase with the proper fetches/shocks and get the sideboard more optimized. Thanks again for the tips.

GarfieldKlon, thank you for taking time to review my deck. I will see about gathering a playset of Summoner's Pact to test out that version. I tried goldfishing online a list with the Hidden Herbalists, and you're right, I would definitely need to get more fetches first before trying to make use of those.

As far as touching up the sideboard goes, I think 2 Blood Moon / 1 Alpine Moon is enough, but I could go up 1 more Moon. I could probably use more artifact hate, but I've been trying to make due with more general removal like Kozilek's Return and Dismember for artifact creatures. In comparison to Anthony S. decklist, how important is it to splash the white sideboard cards?

As for the other big mana deck threads, I'll check them out, thanks!

Been disappointed with the performance of my Eternal-Command list lately. Is the BTE-Summoner's Pact version worth shifting to, rather than the grindy-ness of Eternal-Command? I feel like Primal Command help solves many different problems regardless of matchup. Is BTE-Command a thing? I could at least test it out. Been thinking of running Hidden Herbalists too to capitalize on the Devo burst.

Current list is here for reference. It's a little on the budget side, as I'm still saving money to acquire more fetchlands and maybe try out some planeswalkers.

I realize G Devo is not the most competitive deck in the format, but I find doing big splashy things with big-mana decks to be more fun than most of the usual Modern suspects (and I can't afford Goyfs if I want to stay in green). I guess I have to decide if it's more fun to play a "deck I enjoy but lose" or play a "less fun deck and win more". Aside from Tron or Tooth 'n Nail, are there other ramp decks I could look into?

Small update to my Tooth and Nail list (now Giant-tribal?). I replaced Nykthos with Raging Ravine because I've felt that Nykthos is a bit win-more in this type of deck and Ravinge makes Primeval Titan better in slower match ups. I cut Pact and the tutor targets for Inferno Titans and with initial testing they seem good. Fertile Grounds replaced Voyaging Satyrs for being harder to disrupt and they make Inferno Titans easier to cast. I cut the Lightning Bolts from the main because now with Ballistas and Inferno Titans I have enough removal anyways.

Straight up Titan ramp-stompy. I love it.
