I've been goldfishing an Unbound Flourishing version of the deck. I don't think my numbers are quite right yet, but it's been pretty fun casting some monstrous X spells. I've found it quite hard to balance the number of X spells to make use of them but not be stuck playing a bunch of x=2 spells. If anyone else has been trying to find a home for Unbound Flourishing in Modern, I'd love to hear your take.

I'm surely looking forward to the tribe. Kiora seems better than garruk based on the games I've played. 3cmc as opposed to 4 is a world of difference

3 CmC does speed things up but hitting 2 lands on Garruk is also very strong. Plus the number of games I've won off a Garruk ult makes him indispensible for me.

I've missed this thread and you guys. I got into commander specifically because I tried getting cute with my version of this build. I ended up with a bunch of non green bombs and a list of nearly 80 cards. Oh boy.

I went the other way around and gravitated towards this deck BECAUSE I was a commander player at first.

There are a few benefits to Llanowar Tribe that may make a difference.
    1) A 3/3 body can block 2/x aggro dudes early game.
    2) It provides 3 pips for Devotion
    3) It can help you cast your non-creature spells like planeswalkers, Commands, Finales, Cocos, what-have-you. Sage is limited to just creatures.

Yes it still dies to anything, just like any other Llanowar Elves would. Time and testing will tell if this is too fragile.

P.S.. As stated above, I will get our discord up and running and will make sure we have a primer on whatever the new site is so that this amazing community can stay together.

I believe there was a discord server started up somewhere far back in this thread, but that Discord has been quieter than the sleeping dead for many months now. Would love to see it get active again, or for a community/thread leader to make and advertise a new one to get more real-time discussion going, especially if a forum home is going to be in limbo for a period of time.

Edit: Got an invite link for the dead Devotion discord in case anyone wants to revive some conversation.

    LLANOWAR TRIBE!!

Hahahaha, I just saw that myself and immediately came here.

If there ever was a card that fits into our deck, it'd be this card.

I also immediately jumped here when I saw this. I love it and will be replacing Courser of Kruphix with it. The fact that it provides 3 extra Nykthos mana, plus 3 mana of its own is bonkers. I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations.

As for Eladamri's Call, there's an argument for it, but I still think Pact is better for what we want to be doing with it.

I read the first line of Springbloom Druid about the sac a land clause and briefly got super excited we actually got a Crop Rotation variant, but then it turned out to just be Harrow and I was sad again.

I'm not a buyer on Hexdrinker. Considering it only goes up to a 6/6 for 9 mana doesn't seem like a great return. In the early game I want to be ramping, not playing a do-nothing 2/1 that requires even more mana to do anything. Even if I have the mana to plop him down and go straight to lvl8, 6 dmg isn't exactly game-winning. I'd rather have Crafterhoof and just win on the spot. This could be "fine" in a grindier shell that wants to go long, but it's just not all that exciting.

I guess it's better for more attrition-style decks that want to play for the long game and have a long-term threat. Rock would probably like this card, but can they make space for it, and is it better than Tarmogoyf?

I can also see it in mono-green stompy where getting an early 2/1 creature can be a quick start, but it requires mana to grow, instead of growing naturally like Pelt Collector or Experiment One. I know some lists run Dryad Militant, which seems like a good upgrade slot.

Yea, I was looking at picking up some Karns, but the price on Lattice just kept skyrocketing and I missed the train. Too expensive for me to go into now. I partly chose G Devotion at first because it was somewhat of a budget deck. I'm kinda terrified to play AGAINST him too. I think he may be on the shortlist for banning, seriously. Either that or the Lattice. It's too hard a lock, and too easy to assemble. But if he does stick around, I agree Devotion is in a great place to take advantage of him.

When I can scrape together the money for the lands, I'd like to try out Fulgence's white splash. Looks sweet.

I was testing some lists with Finale of Devastation and finally just decided that it was better to get to 9 mana and entwine Tooth and Nail for Emmy/Xenagos than try for 12 with Finale, even in a more traditional style Devotion shell (i.e. not running Overgrowth or Voyaging Satyr). The only pro for running Finale is that you can use it at x=anything, but Summoner's Pact already does that for free at instant speed. You have to really want a non-green finisher to run Finale over Pact, I think.

Well...I read some of the rules info WOTC out out today. A little bad news for us wanting to use Bioessence Hydra and Genesis Wave Frown

It looks like if the Hydra and the walkers enter at the same time you don’t get the counters for the loyalty of the walkers (essentially they have to have been there before the wave). Takes away some of the fun :). Still a fun card.

"... but they will cause its last ability to trigger." Yes, you'll still get the loyalty counters that go on planeswalkers entering along with the Hydra, you just won't get to double-dip.

    @Curdbros,
As for the planeswalkers with multiple nongreen-colored mana requirements (Ashiok, Narset) I think they are too difficult to reliably cast on t2/3 without having an Oath of Nissa. I think it's liable to get stuck in hand often and still be too slow to come out to be really helpful. Dovin only has 1 colored mana requirement and presuming you're running Breeding Pool, he should be castable in a timely manner.

I just built Titanshift and took it to my LGS last week, but I'm already wanting to start tinkering with these new cards in the Devotion deck. I guess I won't be able to break away from Devo, even with a supposedly "more proven" tournament deck.

Wow if this new Finale card is real, that's insane. It basically reads, if I get to 12 mana and you can't counter this, I win. Can't wait to search up a Craterhoof with this for double the bonus!
As for 3-mana Domri, I think he could do some work. 3 mana is a good place to be for this deck.
