I don't get why you switch the Enforcer for the Harrier. In my eyes, the Harrier is way better. It taps everything, and the fact, that it needs white isn't relevant that often.
I personally think the Enforcer is better, but time will tell because I could be wrong. I think there will be situations where you only have 1 white mana which would force you to choose between casting white cards or using the Harrier/Lawkeeper.
a couple of cards will go into T3 which will make it a pretty decent counter themed cube at least.
overall disappointing set, especially with the "exciting" announcment. powerlevel wise the set is horrible and i also fail to see a shift to more complex commons.
Perhaps "shift towards more complex" really means "shift away from generic/vanilla commons". But they've been taking on pointless abilities to our Grizzly Bears for years..
I like the implication of Gateway Plaza, I think it is referring to Niv-Mizzet's rebirth, but I hope it is one of the other Paruns and Niv-Mizzet's rebirth is unrelated. Also, the art is amazing.
Mana Geode is a solid mana rock for 3. It's no Darksteel Ingot, but it is better than Manalith. both of which see play in Commander.
Both Prismite and Guild Globe are fair mana filters.
I wish the Plaza name didn't sound like part of an office park or something
Oh I see what I did wrong. Even though I counted Ugin’s conjurant as an Uncommon I counted it above as common. Simple mistake. Yeah we know all uncommons. All we have left is one blue common now and we are done!
Sorry for mistake guys! Easy mistake to make I guess.
We're probably the only ones in suspense for that last blue common lol (which will likely underwhelm but oh well!)
The reason I thought the artifact would be common is that if the common land is the 101st common you would need 19/color + 5 artifacts and currently there are only four that I saw in the spoiler:
Guild Globe
Iron Bully
Prismite
Saheeli's Silverwing
The power keeps creeping. Aven Eternal is 3 power for 3 mana, two of which are flying, in blue, at common. Blue, the color that traditionally sucked at combat.
It's Eldrazi Skyspawner with +1 toughness but the token isn't a Scion that makes mana. Won't play the same in WAR though due to amass being prevalent.
I'll admit, I'm surprised that Spark Reaper gets your attention, Humphrey. I think it is very, very, very meh, but in the way the rest of the set is: Actually interesting and not effects you normally get at common, just not really all that strong.
My stance on this set remains the same so far: Lots of solid archetype support that I've wanted for ages (mostly in Red), like the sac dude (still mid-high on that one) and the spells matter cards (none of which are auto-includes but may warrant consideration). The only thing that really seems like an all-purpose improvement is the tapper, who I will admit I slept on a bit but who seems very strong to me. The excitement of these cards isn't so much their power level, although I do think that it's a little high, but that they're cards that I actually want to play with. That hasn't necessarily been coming through as much recently, especially at common.
Apparently wotc is downplaying this as not a NWO level change in philosophy but it certainly seems like it will feel like a major shift during limited. Probably more interesting for hardcore drafters (but..that is just a matter of time) but much more daunting for less advanced players. Not really sure its worth it, especially from a Pauper perspective, since it seems certain that the supplemental sets will be the top pipeline for viable new/reprint cards into the format.
I think it would be good enough if it gave +3/+3
Seems like it has to be good in Pauper

Skyspawner is a pretty strong common.
