101.5. Once all players have kept their opening hands, if any cards in the starting player’s hand allow that player to begin the game with those cards in play, he or she may put any or all of them into play. Then each other player, in turn order, may do the same.
It might be best to just write Nemesis as an amendment to CR 101.5. Or it may just be my personal love of legalese in general and the comprehensive rules in specific that makes this seem like a straightforward solution.
I'm assuming that the Nemesis rule works like Leylines, in that the player going first names a card, then the player going second names a card. However, does this happen before, after, or concurent with players putting Leylines into play?
This matters - even though Nemesis can't stop anyone from starting the game with a Leyline, it definitely influences my choice of what card to RFG for Gemstone Caverns.
Credit where credit is due. This deck (short the renewal of course) was played to second place by you Mogg, in 5CB #2. And as a relatively new player, the links to all the old rounds have been an INCREDIBLE resource for me in getting my head around 5CB. I just knew after reading the list of freebie cards that I wanted to play the Aura this week, and it was all research from there.
I did consider forked lightning, but I felt that I would rather have instant speed in order to deal with manlands. Also the wither lets me knock down huge creatures like primus using a combination of beacon and blast over several turns, reducing my damage taken at the same time. I think this list would have been great last week, which is why I picked it. I failed to consider how much it rolls over and dies to a hardcast ESG or an otherworldly journy on the puncture blast target.
5CB is clearly one of those "minutes to learn, ages to master" sorts of games. I'll get the hang of it eventually.
This is the list I'm tuning to deal with the metagame at my store's FNM. I had 6 one-drops in the list for its first two outings, where I took first and fourth in 10 man events. But they were clearly the worst card in the deck and I got my hands on bitterblossoms at last so I'm making that change at least.
The notable differences between my store and the 'pro' standard meta are these
Black or half/black control gets a lot of play (Teachings, MBC, 8wrath.dec)
Doran/Garruk aggro (just one guy, but he's always near the top tables)
Elf/Warrior Aggro is a tiny percentage of decks.
Revilark and Mana Ramp aren't being played.
Card choices that are odd:
The manabase is poor due to card access / budget issues, forgive me.
Eyeblight's Ending instead of Nameless Inversion - Almost nobody is playing elves at the store, and for one more mana I can also kill Korlash (sort of), Doran, Pyrexian Totem, and Goyfs of any size, all of which I run into every week.
Peppersmoke instead of deathmark - This is somewhat a card access issue. I could trade for deathmarks with a little effort. I find it to be a marginal substitute - it still kills turn 1 birds, and it wrecked the mirror/rouges when I ran into that.
Empty slot - I honestly am not sure what to put here. It would be hard for me to get 4 visions. I don't really want to put the 1 drop faeries back in. Ponder is an option, and while it is probably not as good as visions, it isn't a dead draw late, and I have them. It could also be a bounce spell, but I think bounce would get sided out a lot.
Empty sideboard slots- I don't think I need extirpates in my meta, the only thing related to the graveyard at that FNM is profane command, which takes so much mana that I can almost always counter it.
Bombo of the week
Titania's Song, Mirror Gallery, Gleemax, Copy Artifact
Hate to break it to you Gavin, but even with four cards, this isn't a combo. Titania's song says
"Each noncreature artifact loses its abilities and becomes an artifact creature with power and toughness each equal to its converted mana cost. If Titania's Song leaves play, this effect continues until end of turn."
So mirror gallery will not be a 5 mana artifact with "The legend rule does not apply", it will be a 5 mana 5/5 artifact creature with no abilities, and your pair of 1,000,000/1,000,000 Legendary Artifact Creatures named Gleemax with no abilities will still explode.
For a more reasonable way to get two animated Gleemax, try
Gleemax + Titania's Song + Sakashima the Impostor
Now I don't have time to think of a favorite artifact, I'll just go ahead and say that Sakashima copying an animated gleemax is my favorite artifact ever. That, or Sakashima copying Mecha-Godzilla.
The most expensive single Magic purchase I ever made is actually arriving at my apartment right now. I've been playing for several years, but until this weekend I've never made it to a prerelease. So for Morningtide I'm going all out, with a hotel room at the event site and the whole nine yards. My playgroup is crazy about drafting, and since I understand that prerelease drafting is just Mor-Mor-Mor, which is probably a silly format, I really had no choice in this matter:
Box of Lorwyn - $100
500 Basic Lands - $10
Going back to the room to draft Lor-Lor-Mor with Fonzie, Potsie, Al, and the Cunninghams - Priceless

Option 1: P1 Nemesis, P2 Nemesis, P1 Leyline, P2 Leyline
Option 2: P1 Leyline, P2 Leyline, P1 Nemesis, P2 Nemesis
Option 3: P1 Nemesis, P1 Leyline, P2 Nemesis, P2 Leyline
Option 4: P1 Leyline, P1 Nemesis, P2 Leyline, P2 Nemesis
