Hello again, so I've thought about Dominaria and the lore surrounding it, and...what about the Mending? What if there was such a card?

    Jeska's Mending XBRR

    Sorcery
As an additional cost to cast Jeska's Mending, sacrifice a creature with toughness X.

    Jeska's Mending cannot be countered.
Remove X counters from all permanents. Jeska's Mending deals damage to each player for each counter removed this way.

I put Black Mana in the cost because I reflected on how Leshrac was doing naughty black mana-influencing stuff on the old Phage herself, and some Red mana since I think that's Jeska's primary mana pool? I made a creature sac additional cost, but I'm debating whether it would be depending on the CMC or the toughness. I felt that it shouldn't be able to be countered? I'm basing it lore-wise but idk, maybe I shouldn't since some cards in Magic seem to be far fetched from what the lore prescribed them to be.
I also designed it to harass our planeswalkers out there Grin

Balanced, yet incredibly strong I think.

    Merchant Mage U
    Creature - Human Wizard

    Hexproof
1U: Exile the top card of your library. No player may look at the exiled cards.

When Merchant Mage is sent to the graveyard from play, you may cast any number of cards exiled with Merchant Mage without paying their mana costs.

    2/1

I'm having a debate whether it would be 2/1 or 1/1, regarding balance. I already made it "sent to the graveyard from play" instead of a leave the battlefield effect so Dryad Militant and other cards with exile will answer this card's effects.

She's a character from a D&D I'm playing, so... well, she doesn't have any physical capabilities and I've edited her to this:

    Teresa, Wisdom Thief UU
    Legendary Creature - Human Wizard

    Shroud

Whenever an opponent casts a spell that targets a spell you control, you may cast an instant or sorcery card from your hand with converted mana cost 4 or less without paying its mana cost. If you do, draw a card.
    0/4

I see, Noble Hierarch does really seem like a good addition. What to remove, though? Coiling Oracle?

Well, I'm still drawing a design for this card.

    Teresa, Wisdom Thief 1UU
    Legendary Creature - Human Wizard

Whenever an opponent casts a spell that targets you or a spell you control, exile that spell unless its controller pays 3.

You may cast any card exiled with Teresa, Wisdom Thief without paying their mana costs.

    1/4

Control against control, pair that up with an unstoppable Jace TMS next turn! Grin

The whole point of the change to planeswalkers was to remove the fact that planeswalker had their own version of the legend rule while every other permanent type works just has legendary. It makes things simpler.

I thought that that was the reason for the latest legend rule change? To make legends work like planeswalkers.
Now we have to slap "Legendary" on every planeswalker (which is practically tautology in MtG lore) and wonder why we have 3 different Jaces in play even then. It seems rather counterproductive to remove the old rule to me, even if it does clarify a few scenarios like Gibeon Jura's ultimate in tribal.

The planeswalker ability literally says to create nonlegendary copies. It doesn't override the legend rule to me, since the legend rule checks if: 1. It has the same name and 2. If it is legendary. The two copies are not.

I think you're looking at it at a wrong angle. Wizards probably thought of unbanning Jace a long time ago. Fearful for us players to be spending too much money on just a planeswalker that doesn't actually break the meta, they came up with an M25 print in order to at least decrease Jace's price (hopefully!). Plus, shouldn't we just say Thank You to Wizards for actually reprinting those high-up cards and make each M! community more diverse? I mean, there are some playgroups in cities that only play budget cards, so this kind of reprinting would lessen the price and open more doors for deck ideas.

Just lookin' at the bright side here.

So, I've been playing around with this deck ever since JTMS was back. Back then I had hoped he would be unbanned, my friends say it was impossible but look where he is now Grin

    So this is the deck:

    Bant Jace the Mind Sculptor

So far, I've fought Mono Red Lockdown, Eldrazi Tron, UB mill, 5c humans, Black Devo, White Enchantments and BR aggro/discard decks with this setup. So far, I can honestly say I've stomped each and every one of them (maybe lucky draws), all except for White Enchantments, got 0-2 against them. Others are a clean win, or 2-1. But there are so many ways to improve that IDK what to do.

Gideon of the Trials saved my life a LOT. Simic Charm is an odd card, but it won me games with +3/+3, helped me protect Jace and I've delayed creatures for a lot of times. Pulse of Murasa is a great card for me, since most 'counter' cards I have are creatures that I can retrieve, plus at instant speed with 6 life to boot. Sun titan reaches most my spells, but getting a Gideon or Geist of Saint Traft is what makes this card powerful here (is Reveillark better?). I've had inner debates with myself with Coiling Oracle. As an early draw, this card has made me ramp with card advantage, but is a dead draw at later, more situational turns. Thalia is there to annoy, honestly she did what she was meant to as a 3-drop that annoys the enemy in the early game. I've also thought about main boarding Path to Exile, but Simic Charm could do the trick.

Any ideas to improve this deck, maybe hoping to snatch a spot against t1 decks?

Moved to deck creation. - Torpf
