2. If they were to make a choice between changing every Halfling to Kithkin or changing all Kithkin to Halfling, I'd be expecting to say goodbye to Kithkin. Wouldn't you?
I'd much rather keep the Magic thing rather than use any other term for those particular creatures, in all cases of UB I believe it would be best to use the best Magic equivalent.
The only trouble is is that lore wise kithkin are very different from halflings and hobbits. On Lorwyn they’re bonded psychically to one another. There may be a chance for some kithkin in March of the machine as artwork shows the phyrexians battling lorwyn elves maybe down the road we’ll have a commander or lord that cares about both and you can play halflings and kithkin together.
My gripe is more with that they’re using halflings instead of hobbits lol I know even in lotr they used them interchangeably but I think halflings are mor a dnd thing. I guess if you want to make a halfling tribal deck you have more options lol.
But the complaint that the card is boring is legitimate. And Frodo's "the ring tempts you" annoys me greatly. WRITE THE DAMN RULES ON THE CARD!! I don't touch initiative, monarch, dungeon, or day/night, and I won't touch this either.
I think it’s most likely going to be something closer to poisons relationship with corrupted. Effects are going to tempt you with the ring which will be tracked like poison counters without actually dying to it and you’ll have effects based off how much the ring has tempted you like how corrupted cares about how many poison counters. That’s at least my theory. I don’t think it’ll work like monarch initiative or dungeons.

Do we know if it's just the phyrexians and battles are going to be doublesided? If not I think it would be awesome if Olivia and Edgar were teamed up and could transform into Sorin. There are still a lot of plot relevant planeswalkers that might need representation that aren't the headliners (Teferi, Elspeth, and Chandra are the most likely planeswalkers for the set.) Sorin and Arlin were both name dropped as shoring up Innistrad's defenses and I think they mentioned Sammut hiding people on Amonkhet. Heliod I think is going to be a cycle of mono color legends that gain a color when they transform into a phyrexian . Artwork has been revealed for Ayara becoming Ayara Furnace Queen B to most likely RB Rip Ayara. So most likely it will be a G to GW, a U to UB, and a R becoming RG. I could see Krenko and Geralf as candidates but that would make me sad.
City Styles is the one that strikes my chord the most. As a player with unique tastes, I have that right to participate.
One of those is the Lisa Frank one I think right?
it’s definitely inspired by Lisa Frank at least color wise but I feel that actual art style is different in my opinion. I think they made the design a little too goofy especially with the horse lol the one that looks the most like the art style to me is alm collector. I might pick that one up as a single later for the 90s kid nostalgia.
I keep being reminded of how ridiculous compleat Tamiyo's hair horns look. It's so campy and not in the good way.
What looks different than before compleation?
They point up? And they're pointed? Like some sort of cartoony horns.
They kinda always pointed up and were always kinda pointed. They're more curved now I guess? If I thought one was goofy, I'd probably think the other was too.
I think it's also the angle of the picture it's kind of like they wanted both her and the thummingbird be the focus and it's caused the composition look weird.
Nothing in that text points to and actual cure. Only that a suppressed spirit might still be inside somewhere. Their bodies are stripped down and rebuild into a Phyrexian machine. The only thing that would fix that is more time travel which would be a lazy way to go.
Wasn't the whole shtick of Mirrodin the changing of metal into flesh and flesh into metal? If they solve the Mirrodin problem it would just take time and some in-lore jump to revert Phyrexian scraps into flesh.
I have a feeling that the Simic are going to be hired to heal the compleated walkers. I do think that poor Ajani is most likely to die die. Even though he wasn't in control when he killed Jaya I could see them killing him off to make the situation less complicated.
Here's hoping for the impossible: Jace and Nissa don't get cured. Do we really need ANOTHER 13 Jaces?
I'd be kinda sad to permanently lose Vraska, since she's one of the only clearly non-human planeswalkers (elves and Kor don't count). But I for one am tired of Jaces and Nissas.
They could use this to create a "Legion of Doom" opposite the Gatewatch. If the good guys win and destroy New Phrexia completely, the compleated planeswalkers could escape easily and become recurring villains. They are gonna need some bad guys when all this is over and done.
You do realize that Chandra has 17 planeswalker cards right? I don’t understand why people hate Jace so much were you all beat up by control players in modern because outside of jace the mind sculptor all of his planeswalker cards have been pretty fair.
one of the theory is these walkers could be sleeper agents among phyrexian walkers as in they are completed but not on norn's side
That would require Urabrask, the one praetor who doesn't want people forcibly compleated. He wants you to agree to compleation. Thing is, none of those planeswalkers are red...
and ajani who was compleated by a black praetor isnt black
It could be that Jace isn’t really completed but is using his telepathy to make them believe they had completed him. But I don’t know enough about phyrexians to know if their brains can be altered.
This lets swiftspear into explorer and historic that’ll be interesting isn’t there a heroic/Feather style deck that she’s a part of in pioneer that can be ported easier into explorer?
So Phyrexian Fleshgorger can be either a powerful 3-drop to pressure the opponents really fast in Standard Monoblack decks, or a T3 Tron-powered beatstick, I love it.
That Teferi looks powerful at first glance, but I'm more inclined to believe that the high MV and the fact that the tokens it makes don't have evasion will keep him in check, still it seems risky for Commander, but I don't really know the format so I don't know how viable Monoblue decks are.
prototype mechanic might need to be kept an eye on in formats/decks that use flicker cards because if my rules knowledge is correct the new object rule with flicker will turn the wurm into the 7/5 mode if you did the prototype cost earlier
I think it works that way at least I hope it does. If it does I could see the mechanic being fun across formats. That ward ability may make people think twice about using their targeted removal on it.
Why are we entertaining intentional leak theories again? Are the tinfoil hats getting oil in them again? If Wizards wanted to truly manufacture hype with minimal damage to their spoiler plan they'd drop that last meld pair first to piss off the green-too-good brigade. A bunch of draft chaff is nothing.
Exactly what a GotC plant would say. Is the pay good?
It is getting people to talk about these instead of their 30th anniversary proxies for whales debacle. It seems to be succeeding. Seems to happen that way when they get a lot of negative feedback on an upcoming product they introduce.
Also a sneaky way of getting feedback on the Phyrexian foils as well.
Prove us wrong.
I'm not saying that wotc is beyond intentional leaks I just don't know if this is one. Phyrexia fans are probably going to eat well the next three sets wouldn't it make more sense for them to leak more Brother's War which is coming out in about a month versus a set that doesn't come out until like January? I mean they may want to distract us from the backlash but at the same time they will want our money it just makes more sense that they'd tease a recent set for us to put our money into versus a set down the road.
My favorite transformer was soundwave!!! I’m not the biggest transformers fan nowadays especially since the movies left a sour taste in my mouth but I’m legit excited to collect these!
You left the r off at the end of Raphael, Fiendish Savior
One card the space Marine might love is the Horn of Valhalla, basically it turns the x on the adventure as card draw.
Not to be a party pooper but the card Marneuas will only draw one card from the adventure side of the horn because he says when one or more tokens emter the battlefield under your control. I think the best way is to focus on repeatable cheap token creation like Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia and Bitterblossom or like Rhyperior said with smothering tithe. Could be fun with Witch's Oven and Cauldron Familiar the more I think of it he seems really fun to build.
He get the white member of this phyrexian cycle and it’s token making and that’s pretty good
but However……
WHY ARE THE TOKENS NOT PHYREXIAN SOLDIERS!?
I think maybe it’s a sleeper agent. I think it’s kinda sad it’s not an Angel but I think the theme is the angels are getting revenge cuz of the invasion in Serra’s realm so they’re incorruptible maybe.
I'm not bringing this up to be a jerk but according to Maro market research shows that they were not very popular and the playerbase found them creepy. https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/144842288893/can-you-say-more-about-why-kithkin-are-not
I don't think they are going to necessarily connect a popular ip to something that the company views as a failure for the sake of tribal connectivity.
