Dec 1, 2018Has anyone thought of testing (Risk Factor) yet. If so, how has it felt in the deck?Posted in: Control
Nov 4, 2018Hello all, I have only posted on this thread a few times, but I really enjoy reading the content and keeping up with the latest news on this deck. I play the deck quite often. I was wondering why there doesn’t seem to be very many postings lately. I used to have a hard time keeping up with all of the posts in a day. Now, there only seems to be one post every few days. Where have all of the posts gone? I miss all of the great discussions.Posted in: Control
Jul 23, 2018Posted in: ControlQuote from GPash »Anyone happen to see the 4x Sarkhan list that got posted as a 5-0 today?
Hello Mountainfolk! I tried this list this weekend in some friendly paper matches, and I was very impressed. I was able to beat Grishoalbrand, Jeskai, and UW Miracles. I think the 4 Sarkhan were awesome. I really liked the list, and I will be testing it further at FNMs. I think you should consider trying this list before you write it off. Sarkhan solved many of the problems I have when playing this deck in that I was able to find much more pressure and lock pieces when I needed them.
Feb 26, 2018So, Friday night, I replaced the two main Magus of the Moon with two Spellskite and replaced the two Walking Ballista with two Defense Grid.Posted in: Control
I ended up 2-2 for the night which I attribute to two really bad matchups.
Match 1 - Loose to Mardu Pyromancer ... never saw a Spellskite enough said.
Match 2 - Win against Grixis Control - Game one, I played a turn one Rabble Master, then finished with a Slagstorm and it was over. Game two I got a turn 1 Defense Grid. This card did some serious work! Every turn opponent tried to counter something or Snap something and I was like "ok, 3 more or 6 more mana". Opponent was very frustrated and basically locked out by this card; it was amazing! Also got to use Spellskite a bit in these games, but it only saved me a few points from Bolts.
Match 3 - Loose to GWU Company - Game one I had Chalice on 1, 2, and 3, and a Bridge; he Collected Companys into two Qasali Pridemage then rushes me for like 100 points...brutal. Lost game two quickly.
Match 4 - Win against Affinity due to turn one Chalice on 1 both games.
I think the biggest takeaway from these matches for me was that the Defense Grid is awesome if you can get it down right away.
Feb 23, 2018Hello all,Posted in: Control
I have been reading this post for a couple of months now, and I have been playing with a version pretty close to Stickballruss' stock deck list during that period too. This is my first time posting, but I wanted to say that I really enjoy reading the posts and playing this deck. Stickballruss' post this morning prompted me to post what I will be trying at a paper tournament tonight. I have been using Defense Grid as a sideboard option for a while now, and I really like it because it seems that everyone here in Atlanta plays control and I can never resolve Boil.
So, for tonight, I am trying something crazy. I have replaced the two main Magus of the Moon with two Spellskites and have replaced the two Walking Ballista with two Defense Grid. I will try to take notes and give an update on how things go this weekend.
