I agree on everything except the bit about Tamiyo. Her signature card in the set represents her realizing that her "prime directive" shtick is just getting people killed and, more importantly, causing her to lose out on valuable information.

I feel the need to point out that there is currently room for at least two multicolor Oaths, which would make sense in a Planeswalker set. My money is on Kaya, Ral, Tamiyo or Vraska.

Oof. It's been a while since we've had one of these. Sundial of the Infinite, anyone?

I hope that's sarcasm. We just had Glorious End. Different effect, but similar and comparable. Sometimes one can be better than the other.

Fair. I'm almost exclusively a Commander player, and the two play very differently in multiplayer formats. I suppose you're right insofar as the general design premise is similar, though.

    Well, I like it.

Almost certainly not constructed playable, but definitely going to find a home in a lot of commander decks.

The vamp is a Pack 1, Pick 1 in limited. It's simply bonkers.

In other news, this is the first card that lets you trigger Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign at instant speed without additional setup. So that's neat.

I'll throw my hat into the ring for more non-human 'walkers. Having an Ainok, Naga or Rhox walker walking around would be pretty swell.

On another note, can I just say that I'm starting to become exhausted with how Gis portrayed in the storyline? Like, when has a character ever been framed a wrong or objectionable for coming from a Green perspective? From the Brothers War to the Race for the Golden City, no one has ever pointed out how horrifying the Green philosophy is, in a lot of ways. And here comes Vivien Reid, the reactionary ecoterrorist who is utterly, unassailably convinced of her own rightness, plopped into nearly the only place in the multiverse where her scorched earth extremism makes even a modicum of sense. It seems a trifle convenient, really. Like, surely she must have visited other places that weren't as hyperbolically evil as Luneau (which, yes, may be an accurate representation of the evils of colonialist Western Europe, but is by no means the inevitable endpoint of all civilizations.)

I sincerely hope that Vivien is shown some kind of counterpoint to this, whether it's a city that manages to be fairly enlightened and harmonious while progressing forward (Meletis, Ghirapur, etc.) or cities that have to exist to protect their inhabitants from far worse (Thraben). Show her either second guessing herself, at least a little bit, or at least give an outside perspective on the immense harm her ideology has the potential to do, because there is almost nothing I find more grating than a character who is never portrayed as being in the wrong even as they unflinchingly vouch for an immensely destructive ideology.

As a person who plays almost exclusively EDH, I have to say, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Coldsnap. I think it contains a lot of design innovations and fun, quirky cards that were overlooked because the set, as a whole, was massively underpowered and unfocused, especially on the heels of the very tightly designed Ravnica block.

Can we get some love for the set that gave us such weird and wonderful cards as Karplusan Minotaur, Thrumming Stone and Herald Of Leshrac?

The Ninja’s Bio is incongruous with her colours

Is it really, though? I mean, she is using B means (fear, subterfuge) to U ends (giving people an equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of the privilege they were born into)

(I actually have no idea if this is the board this thread belongs on, so the mods should feel free to move it if they see fit.)

So, ever since Innistrad (or, one could argue, Zendikar), Magic has been making a concerted effort to create worlds with a very recognizable genre/thematic jumping off point that draws from culture as a whole.

What genre/theme do you think WotC is overlooking at the moment?

Personally, I'd love to see a magitech take on pulp sci-fi/weird science style stories. The kind where daring, two-fisted heroes fight telepathic gorillas on top of a city-sized war zeppelin.

What do you folks want to see?
