I'm using this card now to support mill, with Oona, Grindstone etc. Also useful in Reanimate if you got some top-deck filtering like Sylvan Library, Jace, Top etc.

I'm a lil' torn about this card as well. I see that its uber depressing to get hand molested by this with fast-mana, but black need some push as well IMO.

Any thoughts about this card? With more enchantments getting added to the cube (specially in white) and blue already got the artifact support action going on, this might be a nice reusable effect in the cube. The cost and her body, as well as the overall competition for slots in the guild might be too tight though.

It may have a potential in the BG deck using graveyard to recurring nightmare or something, perhaps? But other cards can do the job as well without that much of a "build" around me.

Thanks m8. I need to see if I can make some room in my black section.

I'm interested in the Rakdos LD subtheme. What sort of cards are considered "staples" to support this archetype? I currently run Molten Rain, Pillage, Sinkhole (considering using Wrecking Ball), Avalanche Riders.

EDIT: Nice art on that Stone Rain

Thanks for this. The results seem to go as expected perhaps. I would imagine though that Hall of Triumph might be a good card for green decks as well, and even red if you are supporting red tokens theme also. It could even "combo" with Painter's Servant :-P But even then there are other anthem effects that does a similar or better job, the colorless factor just seem tempting to have.

Thanks, I needed to hear that. I'll try it out in my future update and see what my playgroup thinks.

    Sorry for "necroing" this thread.

I've been pondering about if I should add this to my cube or not. I mean, there's no question about its power-level and awesomeness, but could there be a case where this card is just simply too powerful in the cube, or is this just not the case?

Hero's Downfall is the better choice IMO for killing creatures (and planeswalkers), but it requires a relatively solid black commitment to include in your deck. Dismember is also solid, but is more splashable, flexible and can go in nearly any decks.

You are of course correct. Yes, fetch-lands are better for the purpose of fetching lands in their color, and Sylvan Scrying isn't card disadvantage etc. But personally I like that its an instant rather than sorcery, which also makes it more flexible. The land comes into play (untapped) rather than tapped or into hand, which also can make a difference sometimes. Like many cards in the cube it also need its targets and/or support to really shine, but that's more up to the cube-environment/designer than the card's fault I would say in this case. I can see that in most cubes it might not have enough good targets to make it super :-P and that its not by all means a cube staple, but it can have its uses even with its draw-backs.

I like the card. Its a psuedo fetch-land if you like at its worst. You can exchange your basic forest with a dual-land to color fix, or find Ancient Tomb or whatever. Plus if you got Life from the Loam or Crucible of Worlds in your deck its even better. It can also "save" your land from target land destruction.

    Quote from eidolon232
A deck with Ajani Goldmane can still operate well if you replace your walker with one of the other white mass pump effects, but there is really no card available that represents a good replacement for Gideon Jura, as it combines crowd control, spot removal and a big creature in one card.

True. I was thinking along these lines as I was eating my dinner just now :-P

I really like Gideon. He is easily one of the best white cards in the cube. But I've decided to limit my planeswalkers to 2x per color and right now I use Elspet KE, Gideon, and Ajani. I'm thinking of cutthing Gideon because Ajani is good in tokens decks which I try to support, although Gideon is more bomby.

I only use the original 2 swords for simplicity and to open for other types of equipments/artifacts in an already tight list (360).
