Blue doesn't need more help. I know that folks like CFP will point out that URx is doing much worse than UWx, but that's not a plausible indictment of blue's viability. That's just a complaint about a specific pairing.
Remember when diversity of blue reactive decks used to matter? And how a deck was banned over such a view? I guess that doesn't matter anymore right? Just "shut up, take UW and like it"?
Hopefully these new tools will give some help to decks that are not UW, and I know damn sure that I will be pushing that myself. But it is absolutely justified to complain about that considering all of the past actions and explanations given to us over several years, as well as their desire to push blue reactive decks in general and promote the diversity within those decks. Instead, they let them flounder for 2+ years and then exclusively make UW the only playable control color. So much for "diversity." I guess it wasn't really that important to suppress and supplant similar decks.
man what you are talking? You have UR Phoenix, you have UW control and even grixis Shadow. Should we play now 5 different tier 1 decks all with blue? I don't understand it, really. So many blue everywhere and still not enough?? Even if I don't talk about esper, storm, jeskai, ad naseum, blue Tron.... It's enough man. You have tier 1-tier 252 full of blue P. S ON STREAM SCG Jeskai control versus Izzet Phoenix at this moment. I see 6 lands, 1 field, 1 mountain, 4 which makes blue. What this mean to you?
Each set another bombcard, another great addition to blue no matter if it's standard or modern horizon. I hope it helps crying less in next time my blue friends. You build decks and 2 months later you need build again because so many great possibilitys. Maybe it's now enough?
SSG, Serum Powder, and Gemstone Caverns have all seemed like poor ideas for any balanced format, IMO. As someone who owns quite a few of them, I'd be happy to see them all leave the format. The numbers never backed up that kind of decision in the past, but seeing inconsistent super-speed decks wipe out a few players randomly in big tournaments always seemed like poor format health to me. If they're even more problematic now, that just makes me happy to push them out with other "free" broken stuff in Modern.
broken? Which tier 1 decks using this cards you talk about? Can't see any.... Even not 1. Our ban decisions now only feelings what could be broken in the future? If there is no deck using this cards and beeing broken, so it is not needed talking about bannings
I'm still indifferent, however, I've watched a variety of matches thus far and have seen some dirty ***** done using Gemstone Caverns, Serum Powder, & Pull From Eternity. Opening hands for Dredge and Tron are just filthy. I just hope WotC will take some time to scour over the data from MTGO before pulling the trigger officially; I hate seeing bans and banning a card/nerfing a deck b/c it becomes too consistent after WotC changing the rules would cause a proverbial *****storm.
A stupid as it may sound: If they would need to ban 1-2 cards in Modern to make the game overall enjoyable for everybody else, why shouldn't they do it? That ruling is massive for limited (especially for limited) and also very impactful in Standard. Sure, from all formats Modern gets affected the hardest by this (dunno about Vintage) relative to it's powerlevel, so, if it is borderline okay in Modern (in a hypothetical standpoint), why not pull the trigger and in worst case ban 1-2 cards in Modern to increase the overall health of the game?
Greetings,
Kathal
because we are not in communism where you can be unfair versus some less people to be fair versus rest. What I mean? I allways buy decks which are tier 3. The reason is I will never get a deck which maybe banned in future. I own red prison, green stompy, 8 rack and I bought 2 years ago my eldrazi stompy... The only 1 all in foil, even Gemstone caverns Noone needed 1 year ago... My pet deck I love. Is it fair when people ban my deck now? After changing surprising rules? Is it my mistake? Could I new this like people buying 5 months ago whir prison? Is this OK?
Yeah, and Whir Prison isn't even represented that much in the top of tournament listings I see.
I just know they've mentioned Mox Opal in pretty much every ban post saying it's in The Eye of Sauron's gaze. I just think banning it would tear out Artifact strategies from the meta completely.
And yeah, people complain about Phoenix decks, but if fiahtless looting or something else like that got banned, another archetype or card would pop up and people would call for that to be banned too hehe.
I just love artifact and colourless decks, so I don't want Mox to be banned. Like mentioned earlier, artifact decks aren't really having strong showings compared to other archetypes anyway.
I would just be sad if I sink money into a playset and they get banned hehe. I'm really hooked on colourless decks, especially with the new Karn and Ugin
but that's happened with Kci. It was killed and if it was mox only, they could survived. Now whir prison come with a very high winrate, and even like Kci not played much at beginning, they will rise and rise... Till maybe next banning. I don't want this, so if this will really come true anytime in future, please ban mox and free Kci instead
I hope Mox Opal doesn't get banned. Colourless decks got two new very good cards in Ugin and Karn that can give them a boost, but I always hope attention is taken off Mox Opal hehe. I just love artifact and eldrazi decks and don't want to see them get a smack in the face.
I wouldn't worry too much about the colorless decks. Tron and Whir Prison (plus others) are definitely powerful, Tier 1 Modern strategies that do broken things. But they appear to just be some of the many powerful, Tier 1 Modern strategies that do broken things which Wizards wants to encourage in this format. Only one Opal deck has strong performance numbers right now, Whir Prison, and that deck hasn't even hit early-2018 KCI levels yet. Given that KCI took 12 months of sustained overperformance and win-rate dominance to enter the ban crosshairs, I'm pretty confident saying Whir Prison is probably fine at current levels. No other Opal deck is even close to Prison's performance, and even collectively they probably have less metagame share than something like Dredge, GDS, Humans, or Tron individually, to say nothing of Phoenix.
only because Kci was banned away. It could be survive if they targeted mox instead. It's like banning Phoenix and talking after how fine looting is
It doesn't end. If they ban looting I swear I will be here and thus time I don't say: stop it please to ban each time all cards... This time I will say : ban stirring... Ban them all... Because it's enough to me. You want bans? Yes me too. You don't stop it? OK, don't need it more, I am too on the banwagon now, it seems the only way people realize what they create for monsters if they loose soon the decks they own too
Come on, Phönix is like a new born. Yesterday born, today in his best age and tomorrow maybe dying. Can we stop crying each some weeks to ban something again? That's sooooo boring guys
